i'm working on a summer olympics atla au oneshot, and while i have picked some of the gaang's sports, i'm struggling a little extra with choosing sports for katara and zuko.
for reference, aang & toph are both rock climbers (for reasons that will be clear upon reading), sokka is a fencer (and yes, sokka calls his fencing sword a "space sword"), mai competes in the shooting event (because c'mon, mai with a gun just makes sense), suki does judo, and azula does volleyball (very competitively, think back to the beach episode).

romance novels and rom coms have been LYING to me because how in all of my years of life have i never been put in a scenario where the obvious solution to the problem at hand is to suddenly kiss the person closest to me, who happens to be my best friend (who may or may not be hopelessly in love with me), instantly shattering years of friendship and sending both of us down a path on which we will inevitably fall in love?
ahh hi!!!! oh my goodness @dukeofdelirium i'm so flattered for the mention/ that you've read my works!!:)<3
very very happy u enjoyed my flipping the zutara trope fic because i totally agree, after all the times i've seen katara having to escape some evil version of aang i felt like it was about time that we as a ship fandom reclaimed the trope hehe <3
thank u again!!!! so glad you've enjoyed some of my works!!!<3
you're my fav kataang blogger so i need to give u a fanfic rec i've been OBSESSED with.
their user on tumblr is @quillthrillswriting i think and their ao3 is @/quillthrills but like,,,,, their kataang dynamics are PERFECT they have one abt teen aang and another one where aang is the good dad he should be and like..... its just so so good you need to read them and give ur review PLSSS <3 đ«¶
I actually read a few of their fics last night! I love the portrayal of kataang that they have, and I especially love any kataang being parents content. I also thought it was funny that they took the whole zvtara trope of Katara having to escape Aang (đ€ą) and then flipped it on its head bc yknow what? We as a ship fandom deserve it after all we deal with lmao.
I have yet to read the Teenage!Aang fic thatâs multi chapter and I havenât read their one shot titled Iâm No Longer A Kid, but I will when I get the time! Maybe tonight đ
Thereâs truly so many amazing kataang fics to be found on ao3 and fanfiction.net (thatâs the site I wrote my first ever fanfics on and yes they WERE kataang fics). We have some truly amazing artists and writers for this pairing <3
If youâd like recs of my own for kataang, I read a couple last night in addition to the authorâs you mentioned. Exchange of Wrath by ArmageddonGeneration was incredible (3 chapters) and a one shot From the Moon to the Ocean by the same author. I also recommend literally any kataang content from chocomd on ao3 and they have some zukaang fics too if you ship that. Highly rec Without Water, Midnight Meditations, and Drag You Down, all are kataang fics!
Hopefully Iâll have the time eventually to write a kataang fic myself! I havenât gotten around to writing anything for them on my ao3 account, but one day I will đ«¶đ» only gotten to post my twilight fics on there and have tons of WIPs and working on original novel too so just gotta find the time to devote to kataang
i have been hit with the sudden powerful urge to write a lucy x schroeder fic where she's studying to get into med school for psychiatry
and its like a she falls first he falls harder type scenario where he sees how driven she is when she studies and it reminds him of the way he's driven with piano and its the tipping point for him to fall for her.......... i know starting another wip is a bad idea but the blorbos...they call to me.......â€ïž
The war has been ended, Ozai has been rendered helpless, and Zuko has reclaimed the Fire Nation with the promise of peace. Everything that Aang has been working towards since the moment Katara freed him from the iceberg has been done. He's saved the world. Now, all that's left is to confess to his forever girl. The two are finally free from all the responsibilities placed upon them by the war and the world- now, loving one another no longer means neglecting their sense of duty.
OR: Aang wakes up the morning after him and his friends saved the entire world, and the first (and only) thing he can think about is Katara. When they get a chance to talk, the two take a walk down memory lane.
---
For a moment, in his still dream-addled mind, Aang wondered what he had done to wake up this way, only to have the memories rush back the moment his fingers lightly grazed the marks. For the first time in technically a century, a looming deadline of responsibility and unfulfillable promises wasnât hanging over him.
Had it really only been yesterday when he and his friends had saved the world?
---
He remembered seeing that Katara was okay and feeling the relief so intensely that it felt as though it had reached his soul. Holding her for probably a couple seconds too long. Not wanting to let go, out of relief that she hadnât been hurt.
---
From his place on the floor, bending a sphere of air for Momo to play with, Aang watched his friends bicker over Sokkaâs drawing of them and felt so overwhelmed with emotion that he could hardly contain it. He had needed to grow up so quickly in the last year, all of them had. War had pushed them so far- each of them had lost so much, and yet, they could still smile. Could live in the peaceful world they deserved. That Aang would now be able to help create.Â
Aang felt tears prick his eyes as he wondered what Gyatso would say if he had seen what Aang had done. If he knew that Aang finally stopped running from destiny.Â
---
He turned to look at her, and spirits , she took his breath away. She pulled him in, and he wrapped his arms around her, burying his head in her neck, savouring in the reminder that she was okay , that they were okay , that they would have time now.
---
Guru Pathik was insane, absolutely crazy, for thinking anyone could ever choose cosmic energy over this girl.Â
---
When Katara had excused herself early, saying that she had to grab a few things, Aang waited until she left the hall before jumping up from his seat.
âI have to- uh- um- A-Avatar things. To grab, from, from my room? And I should probably- uh- check on Appa. See how the, um, sleeping on the balcony⊠went?â
â...Mhm.â Toph deadpanned, âSure, Twinkletoes. Just in case you were wondering, Miss Sugar Queenâs on her way to the gardens right now. You can catch up with her if you take the stairs to your left and make a couple of turns.â She elbowed Aang, hard enough to crack a rib or two. âGo get her, tigerdillo.â
---
âAs much as I hate to admit it, youâre right. It wasnât the time, no matter how much I wanted it to be.â He bit his lip nervously, then reached for her hands, pulling them between the two. The water she had been bending splashed back down into her lap, and after she gave a startled giggle, Aang helped her bend the droplets of water from her skirt. He took her hands in his once more, caressing her skin gently with his fingertips.Â
âBut⊠now could be that time. If you wanted it to be.â He breathed the words, looking into her shining, ocean-blue eyes.
the following is an excerpt from my new ATLA aang is aaged up AU fanfic!! (or at least, a teaser from the upcoming update on wednesday) (!!!!) (so excited bc u guys seemed to really like the first ch and left so many lovely comments!!
i present to you, a little sample of ch2 of "the teenager in the iceberg"!!!

The trio flew on through the sunset, until Tui rose above them, pulling the colour out of the sky as if she were weaving onyx black strands of soft wool into the most beautiful of tapestries. Katara settled on her back, tugging her fur lined overcoat closer, huddled against Sokka, who was in turn huddled against Aang for warmth. Moonlight and starlight bathed the three in enough light that neither Katara nor Aang could sleep, although Sokka seemed to be snoring away just fine. After a few hours of fruitless attempts to slip into dreamland, both Katara and Aang rose from their respective spots beside Sokka and moved to sit in the driverâs bench.
âTrouble sleeping too, huh?â Aang cocked a grin, tilting his head to Katara. She kept her eyes fixed upwards, trained on the moon and the stars, worried that if she looked away, sheâd end up staring into his eyes like a weirdo.Â
âI always feel so awake with the moonâs light on me. Sleeping under the stars has never really been a thing that works. Itâs too energising, too⊠too much. Itâs hard to explain.â
âNo, no⊠I get it. I feel the same way in a windstorm, all those breezes and gusts of wind, it feels⊠exhilarating.â She watched through her peripheral vision as he looked up at the moon. âIn times of war, I think we all tend to forget how spiritual bending is at its core. Iâd say itâs a good thing that youâre in touch enough with the origins of your abilities to feel the moonâs pull tug at you just as much as it does on the ocean.â Katara raised an eyebrow at the cheesy sincerity, and he chuckled in response. âIâm serious! Out of all the nations, Airbenders have the highest rate of benders, and Iâve always felt like itâs because of how much we connect to the spiritual aspect of all of this. We feel our element through our veins, we acknowledge its origins, we treat it as a sacred art.â
Katara nodded, puzzling it all over. âI wish Iâd gotten to learn bending as a child properly, the way you did, with the stories of its origins and the teaching of precise bending forms.â
Aangâs brows wrinkled at this. âYou- you didnât get a teacher? But⊠werenât you the one to break me out of the iceberg?â
âYouâre looking at the last Waterbender of the Southern Tribe.â She sighed, hanging her head. âEverything I know about my bending was either made up through trial and error, or scraped together by bits and pieces of the few bending scrolls my tribe held on to. Weâve never believed in building fortresses and kingdoms the way the Northern Tribe does, and so, when the Fire Nation raids began⊠our waterbending numbers just continued to dwindle as they were defeated and taken to Spirits know where.â She bit her lip, trying desperately to steady her voice.
âThat's⊠thatâs how my mother passed. I was there, in the tent, when she wasâŠkilled.â

as a fanfic writer from this point on all of my characters canonically own a cyber-truck. sorry guys idk what to tell you it's just canon now
this is honestly such a good point because like...so many people unironically say stuff like âkataang only happened because bryke wanted it toâ
okay...and? that's how....all pieces of media work. they are written...the way the writers write them. am i missing something here...?
Certain people here are acting as if bryke only created Aang and not also Zuko and Katara AND the whole series they are still obsessing over
sokka would throw a temper tantrum if he saw that toph was "strength" and aang was "the world" and his sister was "the high priestess" and he was THE FOOL đ
me every time i think my upload schedule is going to be consistent again
hi!!! i'm quill đŻan a03 writer trying to figure out an entirely new platform!!she/her
