Agent Lisa Ban shifts through the files, seeing if she can match a pending case to one of these people. That’s when she stumbles upon an anonymous female-file. Estimated height and age, but that’s it. There’s no picture, no past charges, no associations, none of that.

She enters the common area, knowing Seo has been passing through for the past hour.

“Chief,” Lisa catches him, “I need you to look at this.” She leads him into the office, closing the door behind them with her foot.

“What is it?” His eyes find the files all over the desk.

“I was going through the files and came across a weird one,” She hands it to him, “an anonymous female.”

“Thank you, Agent Ban,” He hands it back to her, “but I’m already aware of this.”

“Oh, so why aren’t we investigating to find out who she is? If there’s a chance that she might be a victim, we should try to get her to safety.”

Seo had his suspicions about you. The night Yoongi came to talk, he saw you in the car. He had never taken Yoongi for the type to want a companion around him 24/7. You were the first female he had ever seen the young drug lord with. Maybe you were someone special, it’s possible. But in all his years, he couldn’t imagine Yoongi having someone like that.

“You’re welcome to personally take her on as a separate case. But I wouldn’t trouble yourself with it, she is probably just as involved as the rest of them.”

Seo’s words linger in her mind after he leaves. The chief spoke about the woman so lightly, as if it didn’t matter if she was there by choice or not. If there is a chance that she could save a person from a life they did not ask for, she wants to take that chance.

“Attention all passengers. We will begin our descent in Busan’s Gimhae International Airport in a few minutes. We will be welcomed by beautiful clear skies this morning. Please fasten your seatbelts when you see the seatbelt sign turn on. On behalf of your flight crew, I’d like to thank everyone for flying with us and we’re wishing you all a safe and happy summer here in Busan.”

The inflight announcement prompted you, and the rest of the passengers around you, to shuffle in your seats to prepare for landing. You closed the book you were reading and tucked it in your carry on purse. After zipping your bag up, you stowed your purse underneath your seat and buckled your seat belt as instructed.

Looking outside the window next to you, you could see the outline of Haeeundae beach and the buildings that littered the area.

Busan.

It’s been so long since you last came home.

Since you moved to Japan for work right after college, you never had the chance to come back even for a short visit. The travel, and everything else that you had to adjust and prepare for, made it hard for you to find a reasonable amount of time to take off from work and make the journey home.

But this time, you were given a perfect excuse to come back home– and for a decent amount of time at that. Two of your friends who you met in college decided to tie the knot and you wouldn’t miss it for anything. They were your best friends and you watched them and their relationship happen and grow. So, missing out on such a monumental event in their life was not an option.

Besides, you would be lying to yourself if you said you didn’t miss home and everyone else in it. You missed your parents’ house. You missed that little hangout spot by the beach where you and your friends always went to after school. You missed your parents. You missed your friends. And–

Okay, maybe there was one person that you didn’t miss. As a matter of fact, just the thought of possibly seeing him again gave you a chill down your spine. And, no it wasn’t a possibility. You will definitely see him there. He was also a close friend of the couple, ( heck, he was closest to the groom) and much like you, you figured he wouldn’t miss this wedding either.

You leaned back against your seat and shut your eyes tight while you felt the plane make its descent. This was the part of flying that you hated the most. But, you appreciated the distraction it provided against your thoughts.

Besides, it had  been a while since you came back. You decided you would not let your past (or the fear of) ruin this rare trip home.

“Hey, you ready?”

Jimin didn’t realize he was staring at nothing until Taehyung knocked on the car window he sat next to. He felt nervous as a million scenarios played inside his head all at once. 

They were finally there. The day was finally here.

They had known each other ever since high school. They were an inseparable pair through the years. Even now when they’d both made a name for themselves in their respective fields.

But being at the top of their game also meant that they could barely spare time for each other, succeeding and progressing in their jobs having become a priority by now. They used to spend every holiday together or with their families. But thanks to the demands of their jobs, these shared holidays had become a rare occurrence. There was, however, one tradition they never failed to hold: their annual out of town trips.

This year, the two of them were able to get some time off during that time of the year. The air felt like the departure of summer and the slow entrance of the cool autumn season was in effect. Where else could they choose to enjoy this beautiful change other than surrounded by trees in a private campsite in the forest?
