EDIT 1: now I've watched the whole thing and holy fuck is it fascinating. fascinating and heartbreaking that regardless of it's authenticity it's not real. i was particularly and especially enthralled by the art of new characters and the hints of what would've potentially happened

The casting and acting of Luke Brandon Field was so good I actually thought for a bit that they put a younger-me filter over Eric and had him act out the San Francisco scenes

the VA for dutch, benjamin byron davis, said something really interesting in that old AMA reddit thread - someone asked if dutch would have visited any of the graves of his dead gang members and he basically said “no, because it would just remind him of his mistakes” and i think that is essential to understanding why he ultimately left arthur on that cliff. i don’t think it was apathy and by that point, i don’t believe that dutch still thought arthur was the rat. even if only subconsciously, seeing arthur broken and near death was proof that he failed. at the end of the day, arthur was his boy, in a way that only applied to arthur and john. he raised them and i think he felt at least somewhat responsible for them. seeing arthur sick, dying, and brutalized by someone that dutch had let influence him to a great degree broke him. he is so ashamed he cannot bear to see his boy - his first boy - die because of him. being there for arthur in his last moments means apologizing and apologizing means admitting fault in some way.

The use of both Hosea and Dutch call Arthur their "boy" or "son" is something I've been thinking about a lot recently...

Hosea uses it as a reminder. Arthur is his boy through and through, and there never needs to be any questioning on that fact.

Dutch also uses it as a reminder, but for a different reason. He wants Arthur to remember that *he* was the one who plucked him off the streets and gave him a full belly and a place to call home. It's a reminder to Arthur of where his loyalties should lie.

Not saying that Dutch is entirely evil; in the earlier chapters I can see it being meaningful. But towards the end its clear, Arthur isn't his boy anymore. He is a tool that's starting to rust.

If i catch you buying more sandman comics or a different good omens copy you dont need or more of the graveyard book or coraline i will lose it. The man is a rapist. Full stop, all caps RAPIST. He doesnt deserve more money. The pratchett estate wont die out if u stop buying good omens. Theres plenty of authors who probably write leagues better than him and arent evil predators. He needs to die penniless and obscure.
