I still remember the ace discourse.

When people were making fun of ace people just for existing, how ace blogs were harassed non stop, how ace tags on Tumblr were spammed with gore and porn (and even the pics of the corpse of an ace girl that killed herself) how ace people were homophobic just for existing, how pro ace internet celebrities were smeared and accused to be pedophiles for supporting ace people, how this "discourse" was used by terfs as a gateway to radical feminism for anti ace folks, how TO THIS DAY what happened is downplayed and justified, because we deserved to be harassed for years for being "cringe"

I am also seeing you, making fun of trans men for daring to call out bigotry targeted at them, how apparently talking about their own oppression is transmisogynist somehow, how the term "transandrophobia" is ridiculed and people who use said term are getting death threats and are being harassed.

It's always the same ,the only thing that changes is what identity is the current "acceptable target"

You know what really sucks? When you’ve come to terms with being aspec a while ago and are very comfortable and proud of it and then something comes along and makes you feel so fucking shitty and that you wish you were anything else but this

I mourn my identity on Valentine’s Day.

“Valentine’s Day is for friends too!” They would say out of pity or anger when I complain about the inherent amatonormativity of the holiday.

I don’t think alloromantics would ever understand the deep loneliness that I experience every day, especially on Valentine’s Day, where I’ve been taught from the day I was born, that it’s a celebration of romantic love.

I’ve been taught that romantic love is better than any type of love. “You’ll eventually get a husband and raise children!” But nobody talks about keeping your friends around when you’re older. Your partner and kids are the only things you should be worried about.

I know that my friends will fall in love and get married and start their own life, but where does that leave me? There’s no place for an adult who doesn’t devote their life to their romantic partner.

They can assure me that our friendships will last a life time, but I know deep down that I will always be second place in their heart.

Is it so selfish of me to keep my friends in a bubble so they won’t leave me for a life with their partner?

I mourn my identity on Valentine’s Day, because no matter how much people say that this holiday is a celebration of all love, I know I‘ll only be considered when I bring up what I lack.

Queerness is not just about sex and romance. Since the concept of queerness has been around, so have asexual and aromantic people. Lavender marriages, spinsters, vows of chastity. “Monosexuals”, “anesthesia sexual”, “anaphrodites”, category "X". Queer-platonic relationships, asexuality and aromanticism are an undeniable part of lgbtq+ history. Before there were any terms, any flags or acronyms, choosing to not conform to society’s romantic and sexual guidelines has been the very essence of queerness. The inherent queer experience of feeling alienated because you don’t love the “right” way or feel the right feelings for the right people, of trying to meet the expectations set for you while trying to build a life that doesn’t feel like a lie. These are all part of the aspec experience. We aren’t “invading” a space we don’t belong because it’s a trend, or an internet identity. We’re not “spicy straight”. We’re making ourselves known in a community we have always been a part of.

Actually we can headcanon any character as a-spec as long as they don't reveal their orientation in the story.

"But they had sex!": clearly a sex-favorable ace 🤷🏻

I genuinely feel bad for people who say a qpp is just like a friendship. like you've never felt overwhelmingly deep singular platonic love for someone? you've never felt like somebody is cut from the same material as you in the most metaphorical way? you've never shared a match of minds? never felt as if you were complimentary colors with souls attached to the same star? never existed in that third space between friendship and romance that they said humans couldn't reach? gee man that sucks get well soon.

we need a bunch more lesbian / aroace girls solidarity. gotta love that childhood experience of feeling like there’s something wrong, immature, and cold about you because all your friends have crushes on boys and talk about which famous guys are hot and you’re just… not built the same, and you don’t know why. in fact i think we probably share a lot of experiences and it should be talked about more. i love all my aroace peers in our community!!

Sakuko finds it difficult to live in a society which operates under the assumption that people will fall in love with each other. She meets supermarket employee Takahashi when she goes to support a "fall-in-love" campaign by her junior at work. She is startled when she hears him say that there are people who don't fall in love. As Sakuko's mother keeps hurrying her to get married, she decides to move out and rent an apartment with her friend but her friend backs out at the last minute after reconciling with her ex-boyfriend. Just when Sakuko is about to give up, she ends up living with Takahashi under one roof because of their similar values towards romance.

what i say: no dude kissing the homies isnt gay lol

what i mean: kissing shouldnt be inherently romantic. im tired of it being seen as such. i want to be able to kiss my friends and hug them for minutes on end and lean my head on their shoulders and cuddle with them without people looking at us as if we’re dating. it physically hurts for people to see that with me and my friends, especially as an aroallo. i wish we could normalize that sort of intimacy platonically, not just romantically.
