the misogyny inherent in the "why are you talking about transmisogyny/shutting down misogynistic trans men/acknowledging trans women's rights to be safe in our spaces when the republicans are LITCHERALLY trying to make us illegal.... trans unity 😔" shit is so transparent especially re: who it serves. the case with transmisogyny in queer spaces is the same with generalized misogyny in any community, which is that for every one misogynist you make apologetics for, there's at least a handful of women who no longer feel safe speaking, taking action, seeking leadership, or even just existing in that same space. misogynists stifle progressive movements and their power, force conformity to the violent norm, and are also very famously easy targets for fash and the state to use as informants and destabilizing assets. if you had any actual interest in building a genuine trans solidarity political movement, you would understand that expelling transmisogynists and refusing them grace, courtesy or connection is a basic prerequisite for any lasting or meaningful form of solidarity

i think the thing that is specifically bothering me about the conversation about the new hbomberguy video ("live your life in a way so that hbomberguy doesn't tear into you for 3 hours", "hbomberguy has figured out how to death note someone through video essays", "oh new hbomberguy video [incredibly dense paragraphs of text] i now despise james somerton") is that it really feels like people aren't paying attention to what hbomberguy was actually saying. like, as much as he wanted to make people aware of the plagiarism issue, he also very explicitly did not like the fact that he might even remotely have a financial incentive to make those sorts of videos. and rather than the last video, which was a "get mad about this" call to action, hbomberguy spent this whole video sympathizing with the people who were directly out indirectly affected, and wanted the focus of people's attention to be on uplifting small queer creators

but also, negativity drives engagement so i guess it's to be expected.

Clint has such wasted potential. All that we know is that he's shy and that his life revolves around his job and Emily. I want to see more of him. Perhaps make a character arc where he haves to move on from his impossible crush with Emily and learns to be more open, possibly with the help of the farmer. He has so much wasted potential. He could even work as a bachelor. It could be fun to also give him more interests, imagine if he likes to make swords and has a hidden interest in combat but he's too shy to talk about it. tbh i think it's just really important, now more than ever, that americans (and tbh, just ppl from the imperial core in general) start to actually reading up on south african history, laws and politics. there will absolutely be an uptake in anti-south african (especially anti BLACK south africans) propaganda both online and in american politics, even from so-called american leftist spaces, and i absolutely refuse to be the one who has to hold your hand and remind you that me and my people are human !
