He knows.
He knows how much the person he's SUPPOSED to be, the person he is to Voltron, loves her. Loves that cunning little firecracker of a woman. He knows. He understands.
Because so does he.
But when she looks at him with those gilded gold eyes, how can he not want to break down then and there? How can he not want to grab her, shake her and tell her to look at HIM. Not who she thinks he is. Because every soft look, every smile she gives him...they aren't his.
They're Shiro's.
The man he looks like, sounds like, walks like, breathes like. The man everyone looks up to. The man Pidge loves. The man whose lucky enough to be the recipient of such precious affection.
And he can never be him.
No matter how much he wants to be.
01. the princely delinquent
“Enjoy! If you need anything, call for Ekatrine!” She cheers before stepping away towards another table as Leona scans the menu for the meatiest dish the restaurant could cook up. “Oi, frosh. What’s the meat dish you said I could order?” “Huh?” Deuce pauses, tilting his head ever-so-slightly to the left, looking like a lost puppy, and Leona feels the mild need to ruffle his hair and feel it through the leather that covers his hands. “Oh, I recommend the Gooey Steak Skewers- I don’t why there’s ‘gooey’ in the name, because I’ve had them before and they’re quite nice! Not at all gooey, to be honest. But a bit too fancy for my taste. There’s 7 skewers in one order, and they’re about a foot long, so it’s better if you order only one plate, haha.” “Ekatrine!” Leona calls, one gloved hand in the air, and the restaurant almost quiets- and Deuce’s eyes widen as he recognises this power. This is the power of his voice- and this is what Jack-kun was talking about that day at practice, that Leona-senpai has the ability to quiet every room he walks into, has the power sitting right in his palm- and that he will never be acknowledged simply because of the order of his birth. That’s a rich person's problem that he’s never going to be able to understand, he’s afraid. “Two plates of the Gooey Steak Skewers and whatever Deuce wants- put it all on the card.” Leona says nonchalantly as he hands Ekatrine a black card. “Hurry the order along as fast as you can, though. Oh, and maybe prepare to pack some for takeout.”
02. the setting sun- side: cheka kingscholar
[this is a side story of @quillaffinity's heheheh]
“What are you doing here?” right now, he is not Cheka’s benevolent and clumsy and loving baba, he is the Crown Prince. Cheka hates the Crown Prince. “Cheka.” his wrist, small enough to be covered in one hand, is grabbed harshly, and Mr. Pimbi falls to the ground. “Answer me. Why are you not in bed?” He hates this side of his baba- this side is harsh and ugly and mean, to everyone, even him and mama. “Cheka.” “I- I wanted to see Uncle Leona,” Cheka whispers with as much courage as he can muster, but he can also see that the answer displeases his father, as golden-red eyes narrow with suspicion and mistrust. They told you to stay away from Uncle Leona. Why did you tell the truth? However, whatever he was expecting to happen did not, and Farena let go of his son’s wrists. “Go back to bed, Cheka.” The next morning, he wakes up surrounded by a retinue of guards.

“Its an alternate reality!”
He couldn’t breathe. How could he? This…small woman before had nearly killed him.
This small woman from his dreams.
Believe him, he knows it sounds crazy, but its true. Sven was born at an Altean rehab center. Meant to house potential ‘workers’ for the Altean Empire. He lived there with his parents until he was 13. His life there had been restrictive and monitored, but he had his family.
He had been happy.
Before his mild-mannered parents were killed for being ‘physically inferior’ and a ‘long-term unreliability’. After that…Sven had nothing.
And then the dreams started.
Blurry and unfocused at first, the dreams were all Sven could cling to. But they were enough.
She was enough.
The dreams seemed to be from another life altogether. Another life more peaceful and wonderful than the only one Sven has ever known. This woman in green had been different though.
Happier.
In Sven’s dreams they had lived somewhere wonderful. With green, lush grass and the sun bright and warm. So much unlike his life before joining arms with the Guns. It had been a simpler life. Where the pair of them had lived side by side. Grew up together.
But in the dreams she had always been smiling. Usually at him. Other times at inventions her nimble fingers often crafted in her spare time. Brilliant in every way. Her expression so carefree and sparkling, Sven could hardly bare to look at her. Sven used to…used to think that they might’ve been together.
Been in love.
Even now, if Sven thought about it, he could almost smell the scent of her hair from that long ago life. Or the feel of her hands, small and callous from typing, around his own. Even the look of her lips, soft and pink, had Sven’s own almost moving in a phantom memory. Memories.
The only thing Sven could cling to.
He had joined the Guns of Gamora with the hope of avenging his parents and the…very fragile hope of meeting the beautiful girl with the golden eyes. And whose to say he couldn’t? Anything was possible.
Right?
Sven had wanted to find that beautiful girl from his dreams and ask her why he couldn’t get her out of his head. Why she haunted him in such a lovely way. Both in that other life and in this one. Memories of her clinging to him like a drug, a ghost. Could they…?
Could they come together once more?
But no, the look in her eyes proved otherwise. The small woman in green before him may have those same burning, brilliant gold eyes. Those same warm, soft strands of hair around her face. Those same sparkling little freckles all over her skin like kisses. This small woman that had nearly taken his head off, may look like his dear love from another life.
But she wasn’t.
oof ok...um no one has entered...is there something wrong? :’(

And that’s it! Most detailed/in-depth answer wins! Contest will run from April 24th to May 24th to give y'all a full month to tackle this challenge! 😉
So the reason as to why I decided to go with this challenge in particular is because i wanted to show y’all my main inspirations for GM i.e Bollywood and my culture. And while i know both things aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, my hope for this contest is just to expose everyone to different culture as well as what runs through my head when I sit down to write GM.
Once again, I’d like to thank everyone for supporting GM over the two years this fic has been alive and kicking. I really, truly could not have done any of this without y’all, and i’m so thankful to have met so many amazing people via this crazy little idea of mine. So, again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart!😘❤️

THIS!!!! SONG!!!! WAS MY!!!!! JAM!!!! BACK IN!!!! THE DAY!!!!!
Was listening to “Love You To Death”, an older Kamelot song, and after not hearing it in years, of course the first thing that came to mind was a shidge au.
I mean, it’s kind of perfect imo…
When they met she was fifteen Like a black rose blooming wild And she already knew she was gonna die “What’s tomorrow without you? Is this our last goodbye” She got weaker every day As the autumn leaves flew by Until one day, she told him, “This is when I die” “What was summer like for you?” She asked him with a smile “What’s tomorrow without you?” He silently replied She said, “I will always be with you I’m the anchor of your sorrow There’s no end to what I’ll do ‘Cause I love you, I love you to death” But the sorrow went too deep The mountain fell too steep And the wounds would never heal ‘Cause the pain of the loss was more than he could feel He said, “I will always be with you By the anchor of my sorrow All I know, or ever knew, Is I love you, I love you to death” “What’s tomorrow without you? Is this our last goodbye?” “I will always be with you I’m the anchor of your sorrow There’s no end to what I’ll do 'Cause I love you”
