I'm new to sfh fandom, what fics should i read?? thanks :)

I’m always delighted to welcome new fans around here. I hope you’ve been having a good time so far!

To help with that, I made you a little list of fics. Since you didn’t specify any preferences (genres, characters, relationships, length, language, etc), I took the liberty to sort them out among my personal favorites. They are all in english, and most are published on AO3, but two are on Tumblr. I organized them in four categories: Post-Canon, Canon Divergence, AUs and Ongoing.

*There are more post-canon fics because that’s what’s most written about (everybody wants to know what happened to the main characters, after all). **The ongoing are suggestions in case you like to tag along as they are being written; I personally don’t like recommending stories that aren’t finished yet, since I can’t speak for all of it, but the ones I chose are really promising.

There are some stories (the more recent ones / some older that are long) that could probably have made the cut as well as these, but I have yet to get spare time to read. Nevertheless, this is a pretty good list for beginners. I tend to like the fics in which the characters are not (too) OOC, so you won't feel like there is a great distance between them and the original.

You know, I had this idea while watching Hwayugi. How amazing would a crossover between Supernatural and Hwayugi be?

Like Dean and Sam are hunting down a Korean ghost, but they can't see it, and Seonmi is also going after it? And maybe, while the three (or four, if you count in Castiel) are fighting the ghost, Ogong suddenly appears and saves the day?

Or imagine Castiel and Ogong meeting. Like, "Sup, who are you?" - " Oh, I'm a powerful ex-god, you?" - " Lol, I was a powerful ex-god once too, but then I drowned myself" - " Nice."

😂😂👍 I really like the idea. Quickly, somebody that can write, do it. For the greater good😏

"Bad and crazy" more like I'm going (bad and) crazy over my sexuality and gender identity watching this drama

nothing could have prepared me for the clusterfuck of "where does this footnote end/begin???" of footnootes 146 through 167

Lmao, you know what's my favourite holiday memory? I was like five or six, and my parents, my sister and I went on a holiday with a few friends of them.

One day, my parents bought some sort of bread for dinner that I ADORED. And they were like 'No, that's not for you. Don't eat it!'. Well guess what stupid me did. Exactly, I ate one.

So in the afternoon of that day, there was something about a thief on tv, and my dad told me not to steal, because, the police will always find me. So no joke, I was horrified tgat the police would arrest me for stealing bread.

So, I ran up the stairs, and fckin slipped.

I hit my head on one of the steps, but I was still fine, and then, about 5 centimeters before getting some serious brain injury, my dad catches me,

by the foot.

And like every time somebody brings this up I'm like, 'yeah, I almost had some serious brain injury because of a goddamn piece of bread'. Like, that's a story to tell

a short list of foreign queer media to watch:

- Cherry Magic (drama, 2020, Japan)

An incredibly sweet office rom com with magical elements. Cherry Magic deals with the awkward, introverted Adashi who discovers upon his 30th birthday that he can hear other people's thoughts when he touches them. And surprise surprise, Kurosawa, aka his seemingly perfect but secretly insecure and hopelessly romantic co-worker, has been in love with him for the past 7 years.

Also, there will be a movie about their relationship released in April.

- The Handmaiden (movie, 2016, Korea)

A talented thief, Okju and a conman attempt to defraud the rich Japanese Lady Hideko by sending her to a mental hospital and taking her money. It goes well at first, but upon spending more time with her, the thief falls in love with her. But suddenly, Okju is put in the mental hospital, finding herself betrayed by those who she trusted. Or is that really what's happening? Overall, a wonderful wlw thriller with SO MANY plot twists and a lot of erotic scenes.

- Young Royals (drama, 2020, Sweden)

A modern day Cinderella-esque queer love story between Swedish prince Willhelm and Swedish-Spanish boy Simon, who comes from a "normal" family. Willhelm is forced to attend a prestigious boarding school after ending up in a scandal, where he meets Simon and falls in love at first sight. While the story itself is quite cliché, it's sweet and a relatively realistic depiction of young people and figuring out your sexuality while being young.

- Elisa y Marcela (movie, 2019, Spain)

A black and white movie based on true events about two women falling in love in 1901 Spain. They run away together and attempt to trick their neighbors and families into being a heterosexual couple with a baby on the way. However, it's not long before their real identities are discovered and they end up being put into jail, before finally running away to South America. Bittersweet but incredibly visually appealing.

- My Love Mix Up (drama, 2021, Japan)

Highschooler Aoki has a crush on Hashimoto, agirl in his class, but thinks that she's crushing on another guy. It takes about 5 minutes and a dumb misunderstanding until Aoki protects the girl and confesses to the guy, Ida, that it's him who's got a crush on him, not Hashimoto. Ida is awfully understanding and tells Aoki he doesn't share his feelings but is willing to try to get to know him better. What ensues is probably the sweetest, healthiest discovery of queerness - leading to a relationship between Aoki and Ida after all misunderstandings have been cleared up.
