Guess who has almost finished the initially planned in transit fanfiction...and maybe I had two more ideas along the way for others (one of which happens to be based on one of the two new episode titles)
There are so many incredible moments in the season 2 premiere of death by dying so go check it out if you havent already! SPOILERS FOR @deathbydyingpod FOLLOW, SERIOUSLY LISTEN BEFORE READING THIS
Without further ado here are some of my favourite moments (in chronological order):
‐ then Bury it, as deep into the earth as we will bury our depression afterwards
(I relate heavily haha)
- Hello, I am the totally fine and emotionally stable Obituary writer
(Ah huh, sure you are)
- Anyway, I was being shot at
(What a beautiful segue back and it always makes me laugh)
- I just love the music that comes in when Gert is found again (also the fact Gert is Gert in the transcript and not Marian makes me laugh)
- pretty man
(He is indeed)
- who doesn't want to be the little spoon
(I feel that on a spiritual level)
- ooooh, kablooey.
Indeed kablooey
Kabloeey
Kablooey
(What an iconic and emotionally intense section of dialogue. The feelings kabloeey introduces are indescribable)
- the entire maggot sequence is just perfection, I've never been so invested in maggots
- I thought you could use a hand
(Giving him a hand was in fact very useful)
- The return of the silent nuns! It was so cool to see these guys brought back because of the emotional depth these guys allow the characters to explore and fight against
- the whole paragraph about the idea that maybe Charlotte was right about the fake happiness being better than living with the grief
(I have very strong opinions on this whole concept but it hit really hard to see how OWs views had been morphed through dealing with grief and the complexities and pain of it while still holding out hope for Charlotte - it hurt so much)
- Gerts sacrifice - plenty of iconic lines in here but im partial to 'two plus two equals four, i don't know what that has to do with this but...'
- the direction in the script of 'Click! Beep! The detonator - oh fuck' is pure beauty
- Kablooey
- I need to know why she's gone (this just hit so hard seeing the parallels in how their grief is similar, yet knowing how different it is at the same time)
- It's okay...write me a good Obituary...won't you? (THESE WILL NEVER NOT KILL ME AS LINES, THEY WERE SUCH IMPACTFUL LAST WORDS AND UGH, PURE PERFECTION)
- The angel of Death not allowing his last words to be Kablooey
- 'Somewhere I could only go if I was dead' which was a beautiful line, but was then followed by the increasingly beautiful 'Being mysterious makes you sound like a schmuck!'
- Why are you doing this?
Charlotte is my friend
Thats it?
Yeah
(Ugh, this show has such a hold on me - I'm a sucker for an amazing friendship like this)
- then I'm just going to have to keep on living then, aren't i
(What an icon this man is)
- the 'snow' that I immediately knew was ash but still found absolutely hilarious when he got hit with an earlobe
- You once said nothing done out of love is a mistake. I don't know if what I'm doing is a mistake. But I'm doing it out of love. I hope that's enough
(I didn't need to be hit so hard in my emotions)
- Martin is an iconic bicycle, I love him
- The beautiful 'Wait I can't publish any of this can I?' As OW realises he broke the law many times
WOO! That's all of them, I hope you enjoyed reading that haha, looking forward to the upcoming episodes!
@intransitpodcast
Another In Transit Fanfiction, but much more depressing this time since @opphiem chose the sad one for the next one released.
I have a couple more ideas, but if anyone has any requests that would be greatly appreciated.
Trigger warnings:
- Murder (Both implied and shown)
- Mention of blood
Cairo looked down at his hand and immediately froze up. Every muscle in his body tensed as he tried to process what was happening, the deep, glistening blood, running off his fingers as he took a shaky breath.
Their blood.
Tears started to stream down Cairo’s face as he shot into action, grabbing their body, moving it up on to him as he tried to keep them safe.
“Ziggy, come on man this isn’t funny,” he choked out between tears. “You need to get up ok, you need to be alright. Who else is going to stop me from doing stupid shit if you’re not around,” he continued, letting out a pained laugh. “Exactly,” He responded, taking the silence as their answer. “So you need to get up Zigs, ok. You need to get up now.”
“Cairo what’s happening, we heard a gunshot and-” Sawyer began from the doorway, stiffening at the sight of Ziggy’s body as Alnitak came round the corner behind him.
Alnitak rushed towards the body, analysing the situation as he placed his fingers on Ziggy’s neck, finding only a faint pulse.
“We need to bind the wound,” Al muttered to himself, scanning the room for any fabric that could be used to stem the flow of blood.
“Sawyer, your jacket,” Al said, breaking Sawyer out of his frozen state with a start.
“My- my what?”
“Your jacket,” Al reiterated with a more tense tone as Sawyer ran over to be beside them, removing his jacket and passing it to Alnitak who quickly began to wrap it around Ziggy’s waist to block the bullet wound.
“What happened?” Sawyer asked, completely unsure of what to do with himself in the situation.
“Faraday happened.” Cairo responded coldly. “Fucking rat bastard has to win every time, no matter the cost,” Cairo continued bitterly, trying to stop more tears flowing down his face.
“Will they be ok, Alnitak?” Sawyer said in a softer voice afraid of the answer. Al looked down slightly and paused.
“I don’t know.”
“What do you mean you don’t know Al?” Cairo asked, his voice breaking slightly as his emotions began to overflow. “You have to know, you’re the doctor,”
“I said I don’t know Cairo,” Alnitak responded, more harshly than he intended, “and I won’t know until we can get them back to my room.”
“Please Al,” Cairo said, his tone of voice completely broken, “I can’t lose them, they’re my best friend Al, I don’t know what I’d do without them.”
Alnitak took a shaky breath in and nodded.
“I’ll do what I can.”
The next thing they knew they were all carrying Ziggy’s lifeless body down the corridors and into the medical area, the three managing to avoid people as they went. Alnitak took them straight through to the operating room, alerting several doctors as he went, leaving Sawyer and Cairo waiting outside, forced out of the room, protesting as Ziggy was taken away from them.
So they waited.
Hours had passed since they had heard anything. The pair sat in complete silence as Sawyer held Cairo in his arms, desperately trying to think of something better to say than the “We did all we could Cairo,” that he had said over half an hour ago. Cairo gripped onto Sawyer tightly, burying his head into Sawyer’s chest as he cried, his grip not loosening until he passed out from exhaustion, as he tried desperately to hold on to something that was real, and someone he knew wasn’t leaving him as the situation continued to overwhelm him.
After 8 hours, Alnitak finally stepped out of the surgery room, letting out a shaky breath as he went to face Sawyer and Cairo. As soon as the door opened, Sawyer shook Cairo awake, knowing he’d want to hear the news no matter what state he was in.
Al found himself at a loss for words, not knowing how to convey what had happened, not wanting to even believe it had happened himself, and solemnly shook his head.
“Oh god,” Sawyer said, trying to fight back the tears welling up in his eyes, looking down as he tried to stop the emotions taking over.
Cairo rose from his seat, and without another word, stepped out of the room, anger fueling him as he walked down the corridor with an oddly calm air about him.
“Cairo!” Alnitak called out, going to follow after him before Sawyer’s arm stopped him.
“Let him go,” Sawyer told him quietly, “I think he needs to be alone right now.”
“Ah, Cairo, what a pleasant surprise,” Faraday began, as Cairo stepped into his office.
“Put your hands up and get on the ground,” Cairo said stiffly, pointing the gun at Faraday’s chest.
“Now now Cairo, let’s not be too hasty-”
“I said get on the fucking ground.” Cairo spat, as Faraday moved onto his knees, holding his hands up cautiously.
“Come on Cairo, think about this for a second,” Faraday began, his usual calm and controlled tone lacing his voice as he attempted to talk Cairo down. “Killing me won’t do anything to bring that friend of yours back.”
“Their name was Ziggy.” Cairo shot back harshly, his hand shaking as he held the gun up to Faraday’s head. “And I know it won’t bring them back.”
“Exactly Cairo,” Faraday began, his twisted tone continuing as he tried to take control of the situation. “And I can’t imagine that Ziggy would want you to do this, Cairo. They’d want you to move on.”
“Bullshit,” He responded, gripping the gun tightly in his hand. “No, this is exactly what they’d want me to do.” He continued, his tone getting more controlled as the blinding range took complete control of his actions. “You took away the only person who could stop me from doing this to you.” He cocked the gun, and took in a shaky breath, tears rolling down his cheeks. “The only person who has always been there for me. And now I need to make sure you can’t do it again.”
His finger closed on the trigger.
Cairo let the gun drop alongside the lifeless corpse and stepped out of the room calmly, his footsteps echoing along the empty corridors, as exhaustion seeped into his body.
Balanced, as all things should be.
"Why are you doing this?"
"Charlotte is my friend."
"That's it?"
"... Yeah."
you dont get it this is everything. It's telling the audience that they're friends and that is enough to motivate OW. they're friends!!!
(A non comprehensive guide)
This is all from my memory and I will preface this saying that not all autistic people have these traits (i myself only share a few), nor do you have to have these traits to be autistic, however, despite his development and learning to cope with some of the traits that cause him to struggle, they are still traits in the first place.
Without further ado! Here we go:
- Struggling with change (yes this has developed as we've gone through the show however skip still struggles with immediate change, especially when it involves him directly, despite his grown ability for adaptability)
- Strong moral compass
- Sticking to the rules, even when the EMF was temporarily non-existent (yes he has developed and learnt how to cope without following the rules at all times but this is definitely a trait of his)
- Special interests (filing, Barry Boudinis escape rooms, pass phrases etc)
- Overly trusting (this has developed over the show as skip has learnt not to immediately trust everybody, however, despite this, he still holds out hope for people to change - this overly trusting nature is seen with Mcgrath, Ellie May Sederstom, Chet Philips, and Athena O'brien to name a few and yes, there are way more examples)
- Panicking when faced with an accidental social barrier (such as panicking when he makes assumptions which then make him think he's offended someone - yes a lot of people panic, but not to the extent of skip)
- Liking Cleaning and keeping things clean and organised
OK so this is only a few and what is done off of the top of my head, so the name 'non comprehensive guide' is correct. I may do an updated one when relistening to the show. Hope you enjoyed!
This is me on the daily
It’s not “wearing a suit to a job interview” it’s “Cosplaying OW in a professional setting.”
This art is so awesome!
!! halley wagner 🍓🍓
I love them far too much
Not Pictured: Sherlock and Mariana realizing John wasn’t expecting that response and comforting him (and making fun of him a little <3)
In this fic I totally ignore the ending of the show, everyone totally lived happily ever after and Cairo and Al get to be happy together totally @intransitpodcast
Cairo ran up to Al’s quarters and started banging on the door incessantly, not caring about the glares he was getting from those around him trying to go about their general business in the corridor.
“Who is it?” a hoarse voice croaked from inside, half knowing the answer.
“Cairo, can I come in?”
He sounded urgent and panicked, causing Al to force himself upright to answer the door, anxious to hear what Cairo was so up in arms about.
As the door whooshed open Cairo immediately enveloped Al in a quick hug, taking a deep breath before pulling away to look him over.
“You look like hell,” Cairo commented, scanning Al’s figure and noting that he was shaking.
“I feel it,” Al tried to joke, forcing a slight laugh which devolved quickly into a cough, Al having to place a weak hand on Cairo’s tall frame as an attempt to stop himself from doubling over.
Cairo frowned slightly and led Al to sit back down on the bed once he had finished coughing, reaching into his bag and pulling out a bottle of water,
“Here.” he said, passing the unopened bottle to Al
“What are you doing here, Cairo?” Al said, feebly trying to open the bottle before handing it to Cairo so he could open it.
“Your work phoned.” Cairo replied, handing a now opened bottle back to Al “something about their best doctor, who has never missed a shift before by the way, not showing up to work.”
Al sighed slightly in response.
“Why did they phone you?”
“Boyfriend remember,” Cairo teased “I’m your emergency contact. Better than your dad turning up and reprimanding you for ‘damaging the legacy’,” Cairo continued, mimicking Elio Vaughn’s voice like he was quoting him directly.
“I’m fine Cairo-”
“Really?”
Al hesitated slightly
“I’ll be fine,” he continued, not wanting to lie to Cairo
“No offence Al but you really need to learn how to accept help,”
“Isn’t that the pot calling the kettle black,” Al joked, letting out a feeble laugh
“Look, I may not be a doctor, but I can take care of you when you’re sick Al,”
“I’m fine, it’s not even that ba-” Al began before disproving his point by coughing vigorously, holding tightly onto Cairo’s shoulder as his vision began to spin.
“I’m-i’m fine, besides I might make you sick too and that’s even worse,”
“Al,”
“And then you’ll have to miss work too, and I know you love it now that Alecto has made you a navigator,”
“Al,”
“And I’d hate to be the one to take you away from that especially by being needy and stupid and-”
Cairo cut Al off by kissing him softly, cupping his cheeks in his hand as he pressed his body against Al’s gently, holding him close, so carefully you’d think he was made of glass.
“I want to be here,” Cairo said pulling away, “I may not be very good at this stuff, but for once let me be the one to care for you rather than the other way round, besides,” Cairo began teasingly “it’s not just the fever that makes you hot as fuck,”
“I-Cairo! I- It’s not fair to make me flustered when I’m ill!”
“Oh so now you admit you’re ill.”
“No I- shut up!” Al said, pushing Cairo away gently “you shouldn’t kiss me when I’m like this, you’ll definitely get ill”
“Too right, your breath smells gross- Ow!” Cairo said, responding to being punched in the arm by Al “besides I never get ill,” Cairo continued confidently, laying down on the bed, patting the space next to him to try and coerce Al to lie with him.
“Ok fine,” Al gave in, slowly lowering himself from sitting to be laying next to Cairo, leaning into his chest and closing his eyes “but only because I’m tired and you’re comfortable, not because I’m sick or anything” Al said drowsily as Cairo wrapped an arm around him.
“Definitely not” Cairo teased, holding Al in his arms gently as they both drifted off to sleep.
Tempted to do a part 2 where Cairo gets sick because of this haha, what do you guys think?
