deciphering this page in breadhead's head because i'm bored
first off, the box of text in the top right
it says "THE CHILD BORN OF YEAST SHALL BE NAMED BREADHEAD A GOLEM OF KINDNESS AND SWEET SWEET, SUGAR HE WILL BE LARGE AND SOFT. HE SHALL DESTROY BUILDINGS AND BE BIGGER THAN ANYONE ELSE HE SHALL BE DESTRUCTION"
this ring of text are instructions that say "FILL BOWL WITH - INGREDIENTS KILL - ONE THOUSAND LITTER BUGS - CAPTURE THEIR SOULS FILL WITH - WATER PUT IN LARGE STAND MIXER SCREAM - AND MIX LET THE CHILD RISE - AND HE WILL DESTROY - ANYTHIGN IN HIS PATH"
note that "anything" is actually mispelled in this as "anythign"
as for the four symbols in the circle, starting clockwise from the top, the top most one is the alchemical symbol for compose, followed by the symbol for water, fire and salt
the 8 pointed star is something that shows up in a lot of different cultures and i couldn't really tell you which one this page references exactly, it could mean anything from protection, to enlightenment, to life, to infinity, it's something used in all sorts of contexts and rituals
the rock in the center is also a mystery to me, since this page involves alchemy my theory is it's some kind of philosopher stone, but i've got nothing to really back that
the remaining two places of text are just lists of ingredients or instructions that further reinforce this information
first image lists off ingredients and their amounts by some unit of weight, it says "FLOUR - WATER - SALT - YEAST - SUGAR - FAT"
second image says "MIX - SMACK - BEAT - CREATE - RISE"
this image on the far left is a reference to a humonculus, which is a thing originating from an old 16-18th century theory called preformationism, it's the idea that the sperm or egg contained tiny pre-formed beings called animalcules, and it was simply a matter of enlarging these animalcules into a fully-formed being

While the plot of Barbie Princess Charm School (2011) is often criticized on the seemingly ridiculous method of assigning the scholarship via lottery, this in actuality works as a larger allegory for the world of higher academia: Madame Privet states that only 27% of the “lottery girls” graduate, and Blair, who comes from a lower class background, suffers, in addition to social ostracization on account of her socio-economic background, a learning curve, as she struggles with concepts that the other girls, who were all raised to be princesses, take for granted. We can presume, then, that the other girls who graduated were very likely from socio-economic backgrounds that encouraged them to receive training ahead of time in, for example, etiquette, history, geography, etc., giving them a distinct advantage in the system while disadvantaging girls from lower class backgrounds. The only means for students such as Blair to gain social mobility is via a mentor based system, in which a teacher, such as Madame Privet, personally oversees their education. While the scholarship maintains the illusion of equality, therefore, there is no equity in the system. We might compare this to the modern American academic system, which overwhelmingly claims to be merit-based while also overwhelmingly privileging students who can, for example, pay for extensive testing or an expensive undergraduate or MA degree. Furthermore, the emphasis on letters of recommendation puts an overwhelming pressure on students to maintain a good relationship with their supervisors which can in fact hide abusive power dynamics. In this essay I will….
It's a real banger...
Happy belated Father’s Day to the Swordfather who stepped up!
Gonna get personal for a second: Blue Eye Samurai has a special place in my heart for a lot of reasons, but a big one is that Mizu’s and Master Eiji’s relationship reminds me a lot of the one I had with my grandpa. He became the father figure in my life after my dad left when I was two. He helped raise me, taught me how to do all kinds of things and would let me help with projects, from putting up a new mailbox to helping fix things at the car wash he owned. He was a role model, a best friend and made sure to always be there for me and guide me when I needed it. He passed away a couple years ago and it’s still hard to deal with that. But this show inspired me to get back into my art, which my grandpa always loved and encouraged me to pursue. So drawing for myself again has been a huge comfort and has helped tremendously. Especially all the BES fanart.
Anyway, lots of emotions went into these. This show, Mizu, Swordfather and their bond could not be more special to me.

I've been working on this commission for a while now, and I'm glad it's finally finished. A friend of mine loves Jori and Wenclair a LOT, so here's a crossover as he requested.
