The archetype of Aries is fiery, dominant, and egotistical, an enticingly dangerous mix of traits that compile to create the reckless stereotype surrounding the classic “bad bitch” of the Zodiac.
Factually speaking, Aries is the first astrological sign of the zodiac. The Sun transits through this sign from 21st March and 19th April, meaning any individual born on or between these dates has Aries as their sun sign. The Ram is a cardinal sign, and it is also a part of the fire signs along with Leo and Sagittarius.
Aries’ ruler is Mars, the planet of sexuality, anger, assertion, and impulsiveness. In mythology, Mars is the Roman god of war, whose importance was second only to Jupiter. Those with the influence of Aries exhibit different traits of Mars. Which traits, and how they manifest, depend upon where Aries energy can be found in one’s chart.
In my explanations, I will cover how Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Aries influence one’s personality.
As many already know, the sun sign is a large chunk of one’s personality; how a friend would describe you to others. Sun in Aries is a placement that indicates a very extroverted and daring person.
Although Aquarius is typically seen as the rebellious sign, Aries also thrives off of testing the rules and guidelines of the world around them. Also much like Aquarius, Aries is fiercely independent and individual. Aries Sun natives lean towards athletic interests, and other such activities that get one’s heart racing, (they’re relatively fearless), such as rock climbing or skydiving.
Easy to anger, those with this placement are not afraid of suppressing their aggression, in fact they may use it to their advantage. They often put up an assertive front in order to intimidate others, and they’re certainly not one to stand idly by if someone is talking smack about them.
Aries sun children make wonderful friends if you can match their limitless energy and passion. However, if you cannot grasp their abundant charisma and need for freedom, or are simply overwhelmed by their bluntness, make an effort to understand them better, for Aries are fiercely protective and surprisingly sensitive friends.
The moon represents one’s feelings, the internal self. Looking at the moon sign can explain what a person needs to feel content in their lives and love, as well as how they function in terms of emotion.
Those with Moon in Aries are very complex. They are spontaneous, and often tend to dive into things head-first as a result. Because of this tendency, they are prone to falling in and out of love easily, and act upon their feelings based upon impulse rather than logic or reason.
On the other hand, when they do get invested in something, it’s always at full strength. Whether it is a new relationship or a new project, Aries Moon people are deeply passionate, and will make an effort to show it. They are very “hands on” with their emotions, rather than trying to interpret them from afar.
Depending on the day, Aries Moon people can either internalize or loudly project their feelings. Most of the time, they’ll play it cool around others, especially those they want to “impress.” Above all other things, they trust their instinct and gut feeling on any and all issues. They have a big heart.
The rising sign, also called the ascendant, is the impression or general vibe you give off to others who do not know you very well, or those you have just met. Your rising sign is likely the sign others would guess you to be.
People with an Aries Rising have a very striking physical appearance. They tend to have sharp, precise movements that they execute with an air of purpose. The aura they give off can be intimidating, and instill in others the idea that they are large and in charge.
Their beauty is interesting, with strong features and an often naturally athletic form. If you make eye contact, their gaze is most likely intense and confident. Aries Risings can come across as rude or arrogant, but usually they are just self-assured. They put up a front that can seriously contradict a more gentle side of them.
Mercury represents how an individual thinks and processes information, as well as how they speak and communicate. Those with Mercury in Aries are gut thinkers, and make their decisions very quickly (which they might regret later.) Their minds are active, and they speak nearly as fast as thoughts enter their head. They can be a bit overwhelming if you get them going on a subject they are passionate about.
Venus is one’s sensual side, how one acts in love. People with an Aries Venus often find themselves taking the lead if the other person doesn’t make a move. They usually enjoy the “thrill of the chase” when it comes to winning someone’s affections, but are equally as hard to catch themselves. They have a vast capacity for passion, and thoroughly enjoy physical contact in most of its forms. Those with their Venus in Aries can be major teases, whether they are aware of it or not, but in the end they know exactly what they want.
Mars represents sexuality, aggression, and recklessness. It is often used to see how someone acts in sexual encounters, arguments, and occasionally debate (although Mercury better explains this, Mars does play a role.) Individuals with Mars in Aries exhibit the most stereotypical Mars traits, which makes sense considering Mars is Aries’ ruling planet.
People with this placement can be described as dominant and intense. When angered, they often disregard feelings and deliver extensive rants, but once they’ve made their point they try to exit the scene as quickly as possible. They tend to be explosive, but as soon as it’s over, they are known to forgive as easily as they’re angered. Excessive swearing is their main attack (and defense.)
pisces placements act as mirrors for others. people project their sexual desires and fantasies on the pisces mars. beauty and romantic ideals on the pisces venus. pisces placements don’t feel like they have a firm footing in their life because they always take on the energies of those around them, they have a hard time undertanding who they really are.
Rising signs are limited to the physical part? they don't have anything to do with our emotions or so?
rising sign is not just the physical body - its the layer between us and the world, which includes the outwards appearance and the physical incarnation but its also our view of the world, our mentality and attitudes and how we are perceived upon first sight beyond the physical appearance. its not our emotions, thats true, but it shows how they are filtered to the world so to say

Aries
The glyph for Aries represents the face and horns of a ram. Aries is a sign that is known for its initiative, and its innate ability to move with fervor towards its goals. Like a ram charging forward an Aries pursues its target with abandon. The glyph can also be seen as a geyser bursting forth from the ground, or the female reproductive system, which alludes to the creative potential of the sign as well as its position as the first sign, and the baby of the zodiac.
Taurus
The glyph for Taurus shows us the head and horns of the bull. Steadfast, stubborn, and sensual the bull is a great parallel to the Taurean nature. Taurus is known for its ability to work tirelessly towards its goals, not budging from the path that they’ve set for themselves. The glyph shows us the crescent of the mind atop the circle of the spirit, which reflects Taurus’ ability to push forward with their whole beings to attain the security and comfort that they desire.
Gemini
Gemini is the sign of the twins, and in its glyph we can see the duality that is at the very core of its symbolism. Gemini sees the duality of all things, that of light and darkness, right and wrong, male and female then incorporates these dual natures into the same being. The glyph is the Roman numeral for two, and yet at the same time it can be seen as a tunnel or a doorway. Gemini synthesizes information, pulling it in, processing it, and then disseminating it to others. The Geminian works as a conduit for knowledge and its role in the zodiac is that of the informant.
Cancer
The glyph for Cancer shows us the claws of the crab. With its hard protective shell, home beneath the waves, and propensity to cling to its prey and possessions the crab is an apt metaphor for the watery Cancer. Crabs live their lives in the endless ebb and flow of the ocean, and for Cancer it is no different. They feel the endless tides of their emotions and instinctively feel the ups and downs in all things. The glyph is also reminiscent of the earth and moon, circling each other in their eternal dance through the cosmos. We’re also shown a mother’s breasts, which are ruled by the sign as well as their function of nourishment.
Leo
Here we see the head, mane, and swooping tail of the lion. Leo reflects much of its qualities, with the females being aggressively enterprising and fiercely loyal, and the males being protective and deeply prideful. In this glyph we again see the circle of spirit, the sun, and a tendril that reaches out projecting its power and influence. A Leo similarly projects their innermost power and warmth in order to attract attention and admiration from those around them.
Virgo
The “M” of Virgo shows its ties to the sign of Scorpio. Indeed at one time the two were considered to be one and the same, representing the processes of birth and death and their inexorable link. At some time in the past the two were split, with the sign of Libra occupying the space between, representing the harmony between the two. The tail of Virgo’s M is turned inward becoming the female genitalia and being representative of the fertility and purity of the sign.
Libra
The glyph for Libra is that of the setting sun. It is the twilight before the darkness, the time of day where light and darkness exist in equal proportions, appropriate for the balance that is representative of this sign. Libra seeks harmony in its relationships with those around it and has an innate ability to find balance in opposing forces. The glyph is also the Mirror of Venus, resting atop a shelf. This alludes to the planetary ruler of the sign as well as Libra’s association with the 7th House, which is sometimes called the House of Mirrors.
Scorpio
The glyph for Scorpio shows its ties to Virgo, but instead of its tail pulling in it thrusts outward. This shows how the Scorpion’s will and drive is turned to power and the ability to change the world around it. Scorpio is a sign known for its great initiative and ambition as well as its great capacity for change and transformation.
Sagittarius
The glyph is an arrow, ready to fire from the bow of our fiery archer. The arrow symbolizes the far-reaching search for knowledge that is inherent in this sign. Sagittarius wants to push the boundaries of human knowledge and experience and push their minds and bodies forward with abandon towards this goal.
Capricorn
The glyph gives us a silhouette. It is that of a creature that is half mountain-goat, and half fish. The mermaid has climbed out of the primordial nurturing waters to climb the mountain of success and accomplishment. It’s important to recognize this dual nature in Capricorn. The goat can no more escape where he came from than he can the drive that propels him forward. There will forever be a connection back to the home and indeed what is built in life serves to provide sustenance and security for it.
Aquarius
The glyph for Aquarius shows us waves, it is multi-faceted in its nature now more than ever. It is the ever-permeating waves of electromagnetism and energy that surround us. It is the radio waves encoded with information as well as the sound waves that carry a human voice to all ears that listen. This is the “water” that is poured forth from Aquarian amphora. It is the free and ever present information that will lead to an even more enlightened future.
Pisces
Two fish are swimming in opposite directions, but cannot escape one another because of the chains that bind them. This represents the dual-nature of the Piscean individual. One fish swims upwards toward divinity. It wishes to return home and be one with its source. The other fish swims downwards toward the material realm. There is much that is unfinished and the weight of the world is constant in the emotional ties that bind. Pisces seeks to use this connection to higher spirituality to work as a conduit for healing. They take on the pain and suffering of others in an attempt to soothe them.
Moon in a cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) feels best when they turn emotions into determination, when they become leaders. They feel at an emotional best when leading or achieving their goals or when they have something to dedicate themselves to
Moon in a fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) feels best when they are being listened to or doing their own thing. They don’t like being told what to do or how to feel. They feel their best when they are going their own way
Moon in a mutable sign (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) feels best when going with the flow and being able to have room to fix or accommodate plans or themselves. They feel at an emotional best when they have room to grow and change

Moon is very close to the Sun forming a 45-60° sextile with the sign ahead (ie. Sun in Taurus sextile Moon in Cancer) Parents can have opposing values and conflicting personalities that create a sense of instability resulting in the inability to settle as an adult, they can therefore attract partners where unresolved issues are projected and the individual can be intensely irritated or unnerved by minor personality differences

Dane Rudhyar called the first and Last Quarter Moons “crisis” times.

Moon is 150° ahead of the Sun forming a 150° inconjunct (Sun in Aquarius and Moon in Taurus) Often troubled by childhood and the relationship between parents. self development attached to relationships. 🌕 Born beneath a Full Moon (Moon 180° ahead of Sun, 6 signs away)
The Sun and Moon are in dual signs, sitting opposite one another on the birth chart and typically share the same modality (ie. Sun in Aries (cardinal) and Moon in Libra (cardinal). The individual’s parents can be conflicting and troubled, chaos and instability may have been conditioned as normality, it can be difficult for the person to integrate that the parent was both good and bad. "Lunar gaps” is, what astrologer Michael Erlewine calls them, “regular opportunities, joints in the nick of time, when insights are somehow more possible than at other times.”
🌖 Born beneath Disseminating Moon (Moon is about 5 signs behind the Sun, Moon inconjunct Sun, or Moon trine Sun)
The Sun is 135° behind the Moon sign forming a 150° inconjunct (Sun in Sagittarius and Moon in Cancer) or trine (Sun in Aries and Moon in Sagittarius) The feeling of being born with the responsibility of making important, long term decisions they often feel unready for. Is adaptable and makes the internal adjustment necessary to change with life. Dane Rudhyar writes, “The waning period of the lunation is thus a period of growth for the active power of consciousness. Consciousness, once it is formulated, can be shared with others, and thus can actively affect and transform others.”
🌗 Born beneath a Waning Half Moon (Moon is about 3-4 signs behind the Sun. Sun square Moon or Sun sextile Moon)
Moon is very close to the sun, almost basking in its shadow. Moon is 90° behind the Sun forming a square (Sun in Taurus and Moon in Aquarius) or 60° away forming a sextile (Sun in Cancer and Moon in Taurus) Realiser and materialiser of magic, truthful expression of emotion can seem to create incessant conflict. Can be in a constant crisis until inner balance is obtained. Inner tension becomes explosive without productive outlets. Haydn Paul writes of this phase, “This personality type often feels a secret destiny
🌘 Born beneath Balsamic Moon (Moon is 45° behind the Sun, only 1 or 2 signs away) Moon semisquare Sun (ie Sun in Pisces and Moon in Taurus) The Moon disperses the karma for this lifetime. Often regarded as ‘special’ from others from a young age as they displayed much solitary wisdom and willingness to be alone. These people are early rises and may be unaffected by every moon phase but the balsamic (dead moon). May feel abandoned and without a mother
🌙 People born on the cusp (between 3 degrees°) of Moon Signs The Moon is considered void of course during the last major planetary aspect in and entrance into the next sign. Asks the questions they already know the answer to. Can have a habit of trusting the wrong people or keep enemies closer than friends
The big difference between Aries’ egotism and Leo’s egotism is that Aries is full on confidence and Leo’s pride has insecurity behind it. Leos are usually looking for validation whereas Aries are quite literally full of themselves.
