CS Storybook Update--8/26

The deadline is passed us and I have yet to hear from some people.  I also had a few people say they weren’t writing at the last minute, which I’ve had to find people to write collaborative stories so we don’t have any holes. However, this adds to the time it takes.  

PUBLISHING - Please do not post your stories until the book goes up. Once the book goes up, we ask you to wait 2 weeks to post them on FF/AO3 and tumblr but please link the storybook  OR you can publish at the same time as the book but only publish a couple of paragraphs and link the book for the rest of the story.  Our goal is to get the stories read by as large of a fan base as possible.  

Please check the list below.  If I the title is not bold with a line OR in italics, and you know them, please touch base as we need to know one way or the other if they are in or out.

save emerald city

i know i don’t usually do posts like this, but i feel really strongly about trying to get Netflix to pick up the NBC show: Emerald City. It’s honestly one of my favorite shows now, and completely underrated. it follows a poc lead, and takes a dark turn down the yellow brick road you thought you knew. It’s not afraid to open with a strong romance unlike so many other shows that string you along with the “desired” slow burn or a love triangle. the characters are complicated and interesting and leave you wanting to know more about each and every one of them. dorothy and lucas/the scarecrow bring a light to the show and their chemistry (imo) is off the charts. i’ve heard emerald city referred to as a mix of game of thrones and once upon a time, and i have to agree; though it comes without the constant storyline shifting that once upon a time did, and leaves you wanting more after every episode. it includes a bisexual lead, a trans lead, and a woman of color lead. honestly this show has so much to offer, and i’m really upset to see it go without a fight. whether or not you plan to watch please sign the petitions in the links below to help give this show a fighting chance at another season, for those of us who are not done with this dark retelling of a classic tale. https://www.change.org/p/netflix-save-emerald-city https://www.change.org/p/nbc-renew-emerald-city-for-season-2

When I sat down to watch this new show on October 22, 2011, I had no idea what was going to come. All I saw was fairy tales + LOST, and that enough had me sold. And quickly I got sucked in to the world of Storybrooke and fun twists on familiar stories.

I didn’t really join the fandom until a few years later, at the beginning of Season 4, but then I wondered what had taken me so long! It took a bit of time, but I eventually found a fantastic little corner of the internet to flail and headcanon and theorize and shamelessly ogle with some fantastic people from all over the world, all because of this silly TV show, a ridiculous pirate, and the amazing woman he loved. 

It also sparked an interest in a creative venue that I hadn’t really explored before, and frankly hadn’t had much inspiration or reason to get into. My degree is in writing, but anything but creative/fictional—I never thought I had it in me. But I guess I do a bit, and it’s been incredible to read all the amazing fanfiction stories produced by this fandom, and see all the amazing art made by our talented artists.

But most of all, it’s given me some incredible friends who I know I will still be close with long after the last episode airs in May. They’re scattered all over the country and globe, but this crazy show made us close.

And for that, I will always be thankful for Once Upon A Time. I’m sad to see it end, but it’s been an incredible ride. And I’m so glad we have the chance to mourn, celebrate, and give it the sendoff it deserves.

Here’s to the rest of it, and whatever comes after.

@isaaclahys I just wanted to say thank you so much again for doing this playlist for me for Mike & Sasha! It truly did make my day and put a huge smile on my face. Is there any chance Eyes Open could be maki a comeback? Even to finish just this story? Was honestly just curious! I hope there’s a chance for a comeback but if not I totally understand! Can’t Been feeling nostalgic and started reading it again and wanted to ask if there was at last a shot since a lot of time has passed! I can’t imagine never seeing an ending to it! Love their romance so much!!! Sorry if it seems like I am being an irritating pest by asking!!!

Just a question as someone who has never met Colin and never been to a con and just recently learned of th existence of cons .. how is he in RL? Like does he disappoint or is he what you expect him to be? He seems to be shy, for fans is he approachable and like easy to talk to? And just for my girly sensibilities is he as good looking off camera as he is on camera?

He’s absolutely lovely — friendly, warm, generous with his time, kind, funny, charming, etc. — everything you expect him to be :) He used to be a little shy or introverted at times (especially when he had first started the con circuit, but he’s gotten more comfortable over the years). He actually is very approachable and happy to engage with fans. I would say that a lot of people I’ve met over the years who meet him for the first time, are very overwhelmed cuz he is ridiculously attractive in person LOL The camera honestly doesn’t do him any justice. ❤️
