1.) Don't actually delete content from your WIP unless it is minor editing - instead cut it and put it in a secondary document. If you're omitting paragraphs of content, dialog, a whole scene you might find a better place for it later and having it readily available can really save time. Sometimes your idea was fantastic, but it just wasn't in the right spot.
2.) Stuck with wording the action? Just write the dialog then revisit it later.
3.) Stuck on the whole scene? Skip it and write the next one.
4.) Write on literally any other color than a white background. It just works. (I use black)
5.) If you have a beta, while they are beta-ing have them read your fic out loud. Yes, I know a lot of betas/writers do not have the luxury of face-timing or have the opportunity to do this due to time constraints etc but reading your fic out loud can catch some very awkward phrasing that otherwise might be missed. If you don't have a beta, you read it out loud to yourself. Throw some passion into your dialog, you might find a better way to word it if it sounds stuffy or weird.
6.) The moment you have an idea, write it down. If you don't have paper or a pen, EMAIL it to yourself or put it in a draft etc etc. I have sent myself dozens of ideas while laying down before sleep that I 10/10 forgot the next morning but had emailed them to myself and got to implement them.
7.) Remember - hits/likes/kudos/comments are not reflective of the quality of your fic or your ability to write. Most people just don't comment - even if they say they do, they don't, even if they preach all day about commenting, they don't, even if they are a very popular blog that passionately reminds people to comment - they don't comment (I know this personally). Even if your fic brought tears to their eyes and it haunted them for weeks and they printed it out and sent it to their friends they just don't comment. You just have to accept it. That being said - comment on the fic you're reading now, just do it, if you're 'shy' and that's why you don't comment the more you comment the better you'll get at it. Just do it.
8.) Remove unrealistic daily word count goals from your routine. I've seen people stress 1500 - 2000 words a day and if they don't reach that they feel like a failure and they get discouraged. This is ridiculous. Write when you can, but remove absurd goals. My average is 500 words a day in combination with a 40 hour a week job and I have written over 200k words from 2022-2023.
9.) There are dozens of ways to do an outline from precise analytical deconstruction that goes scene by scene to the minimalist bullet point list - it doesn't matter which one you use just have some sort of direction. A partial outline is better than no outline.
10.) Write for yourself, not for others. Write the fic you know no one is going to read. Write the fic that sounds ridiculous. You will be so happy you put it out in the world and there will be people who will be glad it exists.

I see lots of fanfics that talk about the Grimwalker stories and myths as Grimwalkers being these predators that hunt witches and are these monster that feed off of flesh, but all of these are usually false and like I said just myths.
So what if that wasnāt the case? What if Grimwalkers were the flesh craving beasts everyone thinks they are. Aka me giving Hunter the Tokyo Ghoul treatment (kinda)
This image takes place during Thanks to Them, heās hunting and consuming animals to sustain himself but they can only do so much. He keeps it a secret because heās ashamed, scared and full of self loathing. Unfortunately you can only sneak out and wash your clothes so frequently until you get caught.
ā¦
The craving flesh started around the time Hunter started hitting his second stage of puberty, so around 12 to 13 years old. It started off as spouts of aggression, weight loss and odd carvings that he suppressed until he eventually snapped and attacked a scout. Once he consumed flesh, there was no going back.
This happened with a few Grimwalkers, typically one made around pubescent years due to this being a natural development. Grimwalkers who are made as adults donāt get this since get miss that developmental period. A reason why Belos made Grimwalkers strictly adults for hundreds of years before trying out a new experiment.
When Belos made Hunter, he was aware of this and rather than kill Hunter off or just make an adult Grimwalker, he decided he can benefit from a āmonsterā needing a source of food.
Hence, Hunter picking up a reputation for being āferal.ā Belos supplies Hunter with blood and flesh but not enough to satisfy him, just the minimum to keep him alive. This is to keep Hunter at a state where heās willing to do more work to earn more food but unfortunately this just results in cases of Hunter going ātoo farā aka mauling different beings (witches, beasts, demons, ect) during missions on the accounts heās literally starving and being triggered in fights.
He can eat normal food but his sense of taste is bit dull and doesnāt give him the nutrition he needs. He can eat and eat and it will do nothing. He learns to satisfy himself through eating animals he hunts during missions. When he gets to the human realm he eats his food with an overwhelming amount of seasoning just to taste it.
He also has a very strong jaw and sharp teeth, like hyena type stuff.
(Imagine a scenario he pauses a mission mid way to go hunt some voles and eat them raw and the scouts just standing there like-)
After Hollow mind Hunter struggles because now heās has little source of witch or demon flesh (he raids the healing classes for blood and kitchen for uncooked meat)
So during thanks to them heās forced to live with three witches, a basilisk, two humans who are somewhat similar to witches and oh boy he struggles. His friends are concerned. Camila notices Hunter eats a lot but still looks like he isnāt gaining weight, Gus notices that he sneaks out, Vee smells something wrong with him, Luz sees how on edge he is, Amity catches on to his burst of aggression (caused by hunger and stress) and Willow notices he avoids them.
They all already knows something is off with him (heightened senses, unusual teeth and jaw strength, glowing eyes, unusually tight and powerful muscles despite how gaunt he is) but only Luz knows heās a grimwalker but hasnāt quite put the peices thatās heās a unnatural, natural predator to witches and demons. The witches, Vee and even the humans feel a slight primal fear around Hunter but they canāt quite put the reason why, he puts them on edge even if they love him but somethingās off.
Despite the fact that all of them are willing to give him blood, even some flesh if they could, the boy just refuses, since he sees himself as a literal monster that needs to be locked up.
This is me giving Hunter Grimwalker trauma x100. Anywho this is my late Halloween post aka my billionth AU idea. This was inspired by Tokyo Ghoul, Ginger snaps(2000) and the fic [redacted] Hunter by ApaMonkey on ao3! Yall should read it!
I have a weakness for flesh craving characters who arenāt villains but they arenāt so common so of course I had to project that love to my own skrunkly!
I love that 3 times you've drawn blorbo Hunter eating pancakes and so im headcanoning that the reason is because the first time he saw a normal size pancake he just faceplanted in it as he ate and so Camila started making smaller pancakes just for him, I love him so much
Yes that is canon. He's just a silly little guy :)
They're still very large pancakes compared to his size because it's hard to make smaller ones without ruining the texture (though I'm sure he wouldn't really care about that) and Camila will only allow him the highest quality of pancakes
Also yeah I did just notice I almost always draw him with pancakes lmao that's funny
Whoops, I think is misused the word desensitized, I meant that he says pretty messed up stuff, therefore witnessed a lot a messed up without thinking that itās wrong. The whole back-stabbing coven heads and training stuff.
I look back at the fight with Amity I think your right that in the fight. There where some moves that couldāve hurt her severely. Like the energy blasts and now that I think about it, those staff bashes look lethal if they where to hit Amityās head. I also forgot about the Kikimora fight, yeah dude could be ruthless. But I mean their where other opportunities to hurt Amity he didnāt do, he could grabbed her with the first fist but he just punched her, instead of swinging his staff the grab the key he couldāve tried hitting her again. He was fighting more frantically with the aim of grabbing the key then the in wet by with kill.
The training accident I actually like! I forgot to even to consider that, I do agree if Hunter where to have a accidental kill it probably would be from training considering all the brutal stuff scouts had to do.
I also like the basilisk stuff too but due to it it never being quite comfirmed I decided not to write anything. However Iāve came to the conclusion that itās never been denied either. So if he was involved in the experiments, it wasnāt often. When the basilisks escaped he probably was sent to Hunt them down. And probably killed one as a result.
The situation with the basilisks is a bit confusing as we see some other ones at the end of the show. Though Iām pretty sure those are the basilisks that escaped, so that also makes me question what happened to the other ones. So I wonder if Belos just killed them in the end before the day or unity. I wonder if Hunter knew about that if that did to happen.
If he was then yeah I donāt doubt Belos made them out to be mindless animals that just want to eat magic.
I definitely have my own story for how things go for Hunter, pre-meeting Luz though this was written with whatās canonically shown in mind.
Theirs definitely a lot of messed up stuff that can be explored that canāt be in the show due to it being a Disney cartoon.
As for the petrification, a reasoning I used was that a bunch of scouts are used for capturing wild witches. Which also makes me question if other scouts and coven members are aware of these petrifactions and if so, why not Hunter? I donāt think Hunter petrified witches himself but was rather was part of the process that leads to a petrification. He arrested them and then Belos was able to decide their fates. (The petrification)
So thatās what I mean by factor of death rather than cause or even reason for death.
Yeah, Hunter is a good person. No matter how much heās manipulated or groomed into being some tool, he wonāt harm for the sake of harming. Never would he kill and be casual with it. I think if he where to kill someone, it would look ācasualā due to his mask (ignoring body language) but as soon as itās off and the doors are closed, it panic crying from there.
Yeah the idea of Hunter taking things too far not out of malicious intent but because his reading on violence or the pain scale being messed up for him is always a bit comedic if not utterly depressing.
Been seeing some discussion on Hunterās kill count so let me throw in my interpretation
ā¦
Hunter isnāt some cold blooded killer. In fact in the show we see him avoid doing any messy work. Like having the owl gang try to kill the selkidomous or letting Luz and the Palismen go. Or the fact that during the fight with Amity he never did anything to imply he was trying to kill her, he didnāt even try restraining her. He just was trying to snatch the key and leave the entire fight. If anything, it was Amity pulling out the hurting and restraining moves lol.
But rather where I think there is violence was because of the inherent nature of the two missions. Mission 1 was him trying to kill the selkidomous, the only reason that didnāt happen was because there was people there to do it for him (even if they didnāt). So that makes me wonder, where there other beats killing missions he had to do? Iād imagine so, and I guarantee he didnāt have anyone to the work for him those times. So thereās that, Hunter killing some beasts.
Mission 2 was the palismen , and also before the mission we see him handing a palismen to Belos. So yeah, dude has probably taken ownerless palismen in the past, and has given palismen to Belos to kill and eat so theirs that. I donāt think heās directly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of palismen but numbers do add up.
Also another thing I want to mention is direct responsibility, Iād imagine a lot of the violence or deaths caused by Hunter werenāt directly from him but the consequences of his job.
Now next is where we can be a bit imaginative, I pretty sure itās stated in the show that Hunter only goes on missions on the weekends. So dude is pretty much just hanging out in the castle in the weekdays. That means he was probably doing paperwork, and considering heās a coven head, he has a lot of power. So on the weekends rather than him going on missions, he was sending out scouts. That means anything that the scouts did, that he may have sent was also partially his responsibility. So if the scouts where to arrest, or kill any witches, then Hunter would likely feel at minimum partially responsible (I feel like heād feel incredibly guilty as if he directly killed them)
Now for the actual mission, obviously heās likely captured wild witches. While he was shown to struggle a bit but learn and adapt with palismen magic. When we see him with his artificial staff, heās highly skilled with it. He fought pretty calmly with Luz and Eda at the shores and can travel a high speeds with it. Iād be more amazed if he didnāt manage to arrest anyone. Anyways, so hereās Hunter, heās arrested some wild witches and heās proud of himself. He takes them to the conformatium, he thinks thatās the end of it only for those witches to be privately petrified. We know that public petrifications hadnāt happened in 30 years but we see that they still happen in private.
Itās a bit dubious if we know if Hunter knew of these petrifications or not, much less arresting witches knowing theyāre going to be petrified. But I think he possibly may have considering in Hollow mind he excuses those death of the sigil witches as just Belos perfecting sigil magic and literal terrorism for the greater good.
Thatās where I think a kill count comes to play, that Hunter arrested wild witches knowing there may have been a possible chance of them dying. Therefore making him a factor for death. (Not to confuse with cause of death)
Another idea is him accidentally killing, like using too much force or miscalculating a spell. Another idea is killing in self defense. Assassinations arenāt much of a surprise in the castle so I donāt doubt thereās a chance that he may have killed an assassin or someone trying to cause bodily harm on him. Again a situation of a fight with a wild witch going too far. I donāt doubt a wild witch willing to fight Hunter to death knowing it was likely he was going to arrest them and lead them to a possible death.
One more, a messed up one but one that isnāt too out of character is having Belos having Hunter test his loyalty by being able to kill for him. Or Belos having Hunter kill someone in the privacy of the castle, like a traitor coven member (I doubt Raine and the Cats are the first to attempt a infiltration) Hence, where the context I was thinking of for this drawing actually comes from. (āMay Titan have mercy on youā).
Again this is me just counting deaths and not any other potential violence he may have committed (not resulting in deaths. Even if someone doesnāt die, the violence inflicted upon them could still be life changing. The idea of Hunter giving someone a disability or trauma is pretty sad :( and not even impossible). Hunter in the show is pretty desensitized to violence in the way he talks about it or thinks of it in Any sport in a storm and Hollow mind.
So yeah, thatās my Hunter kill count, a couple if beasts, dozens of palismen and handful of actual witches, my guess 3-6. Could be higher but Iām trying to be a bit more realistic, even if I admittedly want to dramatize it lol.
Anyways that my rambles, anyone have their own thoughts on this?
