How beautifully done to represent some of history. Almost begs the question of “are you ready to sit at the table?” Are you ready to face the past?
It’s Thanksgiving today in the US and so many will be sitting at dinner tables, maybe with people they love, maybe with people they don’t love so much. And we all don’t realize how these moments create our own historical tapestry, and when we come together those individual tapestries for a brief moment interweave.
If your table setting stays ready, you don’t have to get ready. 🍽️🍷
The Dinner Party was created by Judy Chicago between 1974 and 1979. Each wing of the triangular table is 48 feet long. Arranged chronologically along the wings are thirteen place settings; including a unique runner and plate, as well as a chalice, napkin, and utensils.
Wing One of the table begins in prehistory with the Primordial Goddess setting and continues chronologically with the development of Judaism, to early Greek societies, to the Roman Empire, marking the decline in women’s power, signified by the Hypatia plate. Wing Two represents early Christianity through the Reformation, depicting women who signify early articulations of the fight for equal rights, from Marcella to Anna van Schurman. Wing Three begins with Anne Hutchinson and addresses the American Revolution, Suffragism, and the movement toward women’s increased individual creative expression, symbolized at last by the Georgia O’Keeffe place setting.
You can see The Dinner Party and all of its discoverable details on display on the 4th floor of the Museum.

YT algo sent me something neat. This guy has a collection of old computers and he just loves posting shorts of how they operate. Love it~!
No matter how many remakes. I'll still watch the original.
I watched the animation last week at that.

Wow, I give a lot of credit to those who go back to regular mobile phones. I don’t think my old phones are supported on the network anymore…
Q: How do you manage all the noise from the internet with regards to something that is being brought back to life after so very long?
The aesthetic came out pretty good for AI generated. Every time I play with midjourney, I'm not getting stuff this realistic looking 😅
NGL as a straight female, I'm in for the Debbie Harry too. Her look and persona is a total vibe that inspires me.
After years of following your blog (it's great, you're great, I enjoy the whole experience a lot)
I am left wondering (jokingly) one thing:
Does your wife know how much you like Debbie Harry? Lol cuz we do
She most certainly does.
becoming a parent has made me think about these things. especially online presence stuff. definitely need to do some social media cleanup now vs later. less online store accounts. just less accounts as much as possible. there's just so much... digital trash out there now and i don't want my kid to have to worry about it.
Hey you know how I said I was going to make a workbook on the kind of bullshit you need to do when someone you love dies? I actually did that.
HERE IS THE VERSION WITH LOTS OF SWEARING AT THE USELESS, SHITTY SITUATION YOU’RE IN.

This is an eighteen page book that you can print out, download, share, and give away; it is meant to be used to collect information about funeral planning and account management after a death OR you can use it BEFORE you die and give people information so they’re not stuck playing Nancy Fucking Drew while trying to keep seventeen cousins who crawled out of the woodwork from gutting each other in front of the fucking casket as they argue about who’s inheriting grandma’s favorite dentures.
It’s not exactly cheerful and it’s full of things that are probably going to feel really fucking raw if you’re processing a fresh death.
I’m sorry! I love you! Death is shitty! I’m trying to laugh about it a little and I hope you can laugh a little too because otherwise we’re all just going to cry together.
Good luck!
(in memory of my weirdo mother and her weirdo siblings who all died too fucking young and left me holding this flaming bag of dogshit)
I was skeptical with this series initially. I listened to the first book and I already had some spoilers of who the female leads hook up with. But the way the characters get treated seemed insane that they would hook up with any of the abusing characters.
Still it intrigued me enough that I wanted to know how this was going to happen, so I listened to book two. It was definitely better than the first. The female leads turn around and start fighting back which made the story much more entertaining to follow. I appreciate a little bit of justice. Finished the second book pretty quick and was happy to see book 3 was available.
I'm trying not to speed through these but the Graphic Audio production is great. The actors do a fantastic job. One of the female leads has become one of my favorite voice actresses to follow as I heard her first as Violet Sorrengail in the Fourth Wing production - Khaya Fraites.
However, so far my favorite character is Lance Orion. We'll see how things go :)
