I am more afraid of an army of 100 sheep led by a lion than an army of 100 lions led by a sheep. #lion #lions #wildlife #savelions
I'm honestly done dealing with people who don't know what they are capable of at their very worst. The people who don't know what they're like when they've been driven to the brink of their sanity and are desperate to do anything at all that would relieve it, anything at all to simply survive.
Desperation makes monsters out of people. It's not nice to aknowledge that, but it does. People who would be capable of so much good, who would breathe grace and virtue with every exhale if they were allowed space to breathe, will bite each others' throats and strangle each other for air when cramped tight enough together with none to go around.
People who have never been pushed to a breaking point will not wrap their head around this. I don't believe they're incapable, simply unwilling. It's easier to look down on struggling people making each others' lives worse and congratulate oneself on "never sinking that low", instead of feeling grateful they've personally never had to make the choice between being virtuous and being alive.
the crested quail-dove is a bird endemic only to mountain ranges in jamaica. despite the confusing aspect of their name, this bird is a member of the pigeon & dove family, and not any more closely related to quails than other birds of this family. males and females appear similar, with males sporting slightly brighter plumage & typically being larger. they feed on fallen fruits and seeds, foraging through leaf litter. the typical clutch size for this species is only two eggs.
the pharaoh eagle-owl is an owl species found in portions of northern africa & southeastern asia. they are often found in desert habitats. like other owls, they are typically nocturnal. they feed on a variety of prey, ranging from typical owl fare like small mammals and birds to the more unusual scorpions. pharaoh eagle-owls are monogamous and bond with their mates for life.

Apparently a lot of people get dialogue punctuation wrong despite having an otherwise solid grasp of grammar, possibly because they’re used to writing essays rather than prose. I don’t wanna be the asshole who complains about writing errors and then doesn’t offer to help, so here are the basics summarized as simply as I could manage on my phone (“dialogue tag” just refers to phrases like “he said,” “she whispered,” “they asked”):
“For most dialogue, use a comma after the sentence and don’t capitalize the next word after the quotation mark,” she said.
“But what if you’re using a question mark rather than a period?” they asked.
“When using a dialogue tag, you never capitalize the word after the quotation mark unless it’s a proper noun!” she snapped.
“When breaking up a single sentence with a dialogue tag,” she said, “use commas.”
“This is a single sentence,” she said. “Now, this is a second stand-alone sentence, so there’s no comma after ‘she said.’”
“There’s no dialogue tag after this sentence, so end it with a period rather than a comma.” She frowned, suddenly concerned that the entire post was as unasked for as it was sanctimonious.
