Just Around The Riverbend

Just Around the Riverbend

They could have played it safe. They could have stayed silent, they could have gone on with their lives. They'd been born to comfortable families, most of them; been born to privilege; been born to ease and relative wealth.

But what's the point of living without excitement, without something to live for?

Enjolras was a firebrand, a firework, and he was the one who pushed them to look around and dream, to see things in their minds' eye that weren't yet real, to choose what is right instead of what is simply easy.

To see the Republic, just around the corner, so long as they still fought the status quo.

so, uh, hello Les Mis fandom! I’m putting this in the tags in the hopes that people might be interested?

I’m writing a fic called Climbing to the Light.

it’s an AU set in Beauxbatons during the 1970s – essentially it follows Valjean, Fantine, and Javert as students & young adults in France, during the rise & eventual (first) fall of Voldemort

it’s unfinished right now, and will probably be a great sprawling hulk of a fic when I’m done, but should be updating at least once a week so that’s exciting!

(involves eventual Valjean/Javert, Fantine/Javert, and trio – be warned)

(there’ll be a sequel about Cosette & Marius & Eponine & the Amis, set in Beauxbatons during the same timeline as the Harry Potter series, but that’s going to be waay in the future)

all the songs in the old guard soundtrack are songs on nile's playlist, gotg style. they're at a safehouse between jobs, and nile plays 'baby outlaw' by elle king for the group and when it hits the first chorus joe just. GRINS, and nicky is already holding out his hand and they start dancing full east coast swing at top speed, quick changes and turns and all, and andy pretends she is not also jamming along to the song but is not so secretly tapping her foot to the beat

-Vaarsuvius, How'd Ye Ever Learn So Much Aboot How Folks Fall In Love? Ye Don't Seem The Type, Really.

-Vaarsuvius, how'd ye ever learn so much aboot how folks fall in love? Ye don't seem the type, really. -Only through empirical experience did I arrive at such knowledge. It took my mate and me many years to acknowledge our feelings for one other. Our wedding was the finest day of my long life.

I’ve been Compromised by the latest OOTS update so here, have some newlyweds.

@lecomtedelafere God tho, them wasting no time at all in establishing valjean’s possible sexual interest in fantine at the factory, wasting no time at all in implying that the reason he fired her is because he was furious that she denied him access that he believed she was giving others. fantine’s scenes in the factory are just “at the end of the day” but with valjean in the place of the foreman and with no one in the place of valjean. only a handful of people care about fantine as a person in bbc and all of them are women and only one or two of them seem to actually try to help, and even then it’s in scenes that are each only a handful of seconds long. bbc treated the women of les mis far, far worse than the book did and i can only imagine how it treats constance and queen anne and milady de winter. cripes.

The first time they kissed was completely by accident.

Joly was mildly drunk, and Grantaire was sober for once, and Grantaire had just finished saying something about -- oh, he didn't remember, but it was nice, it was the kind of thing Joly certainly agreed with, and it was sweet.

He remembered that Grantaire had said something sweet, because that was why he went to kiss his cheek.

But Grantaire had turned his head at the very last moment, so there it was: a vaguely wine-tasting, awkwardly executed kiss.

They stayed there like that for a few moments, both nonplussed, before Joly pulled back and, blinking rapidly, took off his glasses to clean them.

"I was planning on doing that differently."

" ... Were you?"

"... I was."

"Then, here," said Grantaire, and he kissed Joly, and this time wasn't quite so awkward.
