Do not blame me for who I am. The doctor prescribed me 20 mL of #valvertine twice a day.
Modern AU JolyxGrantaire.
He wanted to stay in bed that day that’s all Grantaire wanted to do but, Joly made him get up and go to work. Honestly he didn’t expect to see his fiance at work that day especially when his fiance’s body was covered in blood and not moving.
Joly: Please, Grantaire goddammit get up. Move! *He held onto Grantaire’s hand tightly running his hand threw hair.* I love you.
Friend Like Me
Grantaire was a puzzle.
He painted, he sketched, he made jokes that had them laughing until their sides hurt, he rambled about gods and men, he knew all the good cafés and restaurants, he could fence, he could box. He knew Paris almost as well as Bahorel did.
And yet, for all his talents, he kept himself to a bottle of absinthe or wine.
Joly and Bossuet would go drinking with Grantaire, often enough that it was not a surprise on the fifth of June that Grantaire joined them for breakfast. But Joly couldn't help noticing that a man of such talents, such potential, drowned himself in alcohol.
When Enjolras said that Grantaire was incapable of loving, of feeling, of believing, Joly saw, and saw the way the words stuttered forth like frightened children.
"Y-y-you'll see."
Like a genie trapped in a lamp.
Belle (This Provincial Life) (Reprise)
It seemed that no one else knew what a complete asshole Joly could be.
When he showed his teeth, it was only in a smile or a laugh. When he raised a hand, it was only for a high five. When he picked up a scalpel, it was only to dissect a corpse pinned to the paraffin wax.
But Montparnasse knew otherwise.
That was why Joly went to him, really. Because he wanted more than to be the cheerful hypochondriac. And how could Montparnasse blame him?
Everybody needs someone they can be an asshole around.

Gavroche had taken to hanging around the Friends of the ABC during their meetings, getting underfoot and being helpful or a nuisance or both, arguing with Enjolras, admiring Bahorel, delivering messages and cockades, being a snarky brat.
And falling asleep on Joly.
It was something that had happened often enough that the others joked about Joly being an especially good pillow, to which Bossuet would reply that indeed he was, to which Joly would reply with a whack of the arm and a blush.
My point was with your phrasing which implied Fantine had forgotten how to appear fine, and had known that before, when before that she was a young street urchin and then working in the country, where it would not have been a concern as it was in the city. And I did say I agreed with the rest. Obviously it wasn't constant grinding misery.
? ?? ?? ?? okay? i interpret her character one way, you do another. i don't know you from adam's housecat, so like, it's all fine. yeah? go have an ice cream or something. i'm gonna eat one with m&ms in it. enjoy the rest of your day.
