Even if everything is history now
And it all remains just a distant memory
The scars would still be present in my life
Rooted deep inside my mind, my soul
They still plague my dreams and keep me up at night
Even hearing your name make me wanna wish
Demons were just stories to scare out the kids
Prompt 5: ,, Please remain calm and stay indoors."
Why? Just why? Why did I let this happen in the first place? It s too late to apologise now...
Ok, let me explain myself. I m a scientist and as you can probably tell, one of my experiments... well, went berserk. It was meant to be an invention that would help clear the sky of all the acid clouds that formed after years and years of pollution. What I didn t expected was that the gaz I invented somehow mutated the already radioactive particles of the clouds, thus bringing to earth a special kind of acidic rain that managed to contaminate half of the population on earth, including plants, animals and destroying inanimated objects such as cars and wood and basically anything organic. So now we have to deal with shortages of potable water, food and having to fight zombie like creatures that can infect everything around them.
It s kinda funny, on one of ours battles a radio could be heard faint in the distance. " Please remain calm and stay indoors" my ass. 'The world won t save itself' , I throught as everything around me went suddenly black and I was knocked out cold...
Virgo is a goal oriented, hardworking type of person, who will not and does not rest until they have finished their share of responsibilities and duties for the day. Virgoās are serious and mature individuals who often might appear reserved and simply busy at a task at hand to be approached by someone. They are the person everyone else relies on when the going gets though to pull through andĀ ātake the wheelā, meaning that the Virgo is used to having the weight of the world on their shoulders and silently bearing it without making a fuss about it. Apart from being the back-bone of the society, they have a caring and protective kind of nature, always looking after the underdogs and the oppressed, for they experienced how it feels to be in that position once or twice in their lifetime. When looking for a partner they want someone who will be just as committed as they are in a relationship. A soft heart, that knows how to love as deeply as they do, for Virgos are tired of people who play games and just use them for their money/security/or status that they have. Virgos are known to be the provider, yet most people take that for granted and misuse their good will and helping hand, leaving them broken and feeling empty. Thatās why the want a partner who will appreciate the effort they put in and truly love them for who they are, giving them the peace and security they so crave, and even a little bit of admiration and praise to lift up their spirits every now and then.Ā Ā
Pisces are dreamers, kind and loving people who put the emphasis on love and relationships in their life. They desire someone who will treat them as a āprincessā, and behave as the prince charming you see in movies. In return they give the person their full support, love and unquestionable loyalty. Pisces look for a stable and reliable partner who is well off and who will take the lead in their relationship, wooing and courting the Pisces like a gentleman. They like someone with will power and a dominating personality, yet someone who will have a spot towards them and never lose their temper. Pisces make the best lovers, they will shower their special person with creative and usually hand made gifts and their endless attention, admiration and unexpected surprises. The chosen person will feel as if they are the most important person in the world. Moreover, Pisces are empathsĀ who feel everything too deeply and must therefore express their emotions to the people around them. They need someone who will be gentle and understanding with them. Additionally, this is the sign that knows heart break, they have had their fare share of failed relationships, betrayal and disappointment. Always falling for someone who was careless with their heart and turned out not what they had hoped for.Ā
Virgos have also experienced too many heart breaks and let-downs and ,therefore, are tired of being used and taken for granted. A relationship between these two signs would be full of understanding, mutual support and security in one another. Both know how it feels to be lonely and would never intentionally inflict pain on their partner. Virgo would take charge, provide and protect their Pisces, and in return the Pisces would give them unconditional love, cuddles and the softness of their presence. Pisces will take notice of every little deed the Virgo does for them and thank them double for it, always making sure the Virgo gets the appreciation for all the hard work they put into. This is a soft and gentle kind of love, that gives one rest and does not tire one out.Ā
a non-complete guide written by a english-native high-school student with experience in studying japanese, indonesian and currentlyāromanian.Ā
language proficiency is separated into four skills. reading, writing, listening and speaking.Ā
as a complete beginner, or even to someone within the A1 range, one should focus mainly on these three core skills: reading, writing and listening. right now, pronunciation should not be your main focus. speaking skills, while they should be slowly developed from the beginning, are not as easily mastered as reading or writing and thus can cause a feeling of stagnation. languages have specific skills that need to be developed before one can pronounce words properly and these specific skills can take months to master. as a tip, one should master those specific skills before focusing on pronunciation. (for example, romanian requires the speaker to be able to roll theirĀ ā r ās.)
use the skill of listening to your advantage
young children spend their first few years listening until they are able to create coherent sentences. donāt expect your experience to be any different.
as a beginner, you do not have to understand everything, or anything, that is being said. at this stage, you are unconsciously learning how to distinguish your target language from other languages, as well as forming ideas and creating patterns between words in your head.
i always create a song playlist in my target language. spotify has playlists already created that include the top 100 ranked songs from that country/language, feel free to listen to these playlists. i then create a separate playlist full of all my favourite songs from the target language (and because they are my favourite) i listen to them on repeat. naturally, you may start to sing along, begin to know the songs off by heart, etc. this is one of the most easiest and natural way of learning a language.
tv shows and movies. childrenās cartoons or mature tv shows, it does not matter. the combination of subtitles in your native language, audio in your target language, and the context of the film, helps the brain process simple words. these words, when repeated, become words youāve effortlessly remembered. as a plus, you know how to pronounce these words and in what context they are used and/or mean.Ā
do not think of these methods as studying, but rather purely for your enjoyment. it makes listening to these playlists, and watching tv shows, less of a task and something you are more inclined to do.
a journal is your best friend
a specific space dedicated to the learning process of your target language is, well, highly recommended. emphasis on specific. in this journal you will be able to practice your reading and writing skills.
for me, i use my journal to create vocab lists separated by the wordās function, context, etc. (for example, every noun word used to identify a person in a family, such as mother or uncle, is recorded together). i often see others create vocab lists under theĀ ā top hundred common words ā in whatever language, and i advocate against this. your brain needs to associate and make links with words, and thisĀ ā most common words ā association loses meaning fast. thus, you do not retain the information.
the creation of vocab lists do multiple things in my learning process. first, i will collect these words, usually from an online source or a language textbook. already, i have read the words and my brain has processed them and understood that one word translates to the other, and in what context they should be used. second, i copy these words and write them down in my journal (i make sure i write the word in my target language multiple times). here i have practised writing the words multiple times. usually, with this method i am able to retain the majority of the information by the next day.
the trick is less information. thus why i mentioned studying the top hundred most common words does not work. as a beginner, you only need to study the essentials. if your vocab list exceeds more than 20 words, you are less likely to remember the majority of the words.
youāre journal is not only good for vocab lists. you are able to track your progress, keep track of all your information, and so much more.Ā
after one hour, you will retain less than half of the information you studied. in a day, you will have forgotten over 70% of your vocab. this is natural. do not be upset that you arenātĀ āstudyingā enough to remember more than 50 words in your first week. repetition is essential here to make sure your brain understands that this information is important and should be kept.
repetition, repetition, repetition
albeit it does not matter how you incorporate repetition into your routine. you can practise a vocab list everyday in the shower, create an audio of all your vocab that you listen to whilst you workout, whatever. do what works best for you. flashcards are still a good bet regardless.
you are able to practice reading and writing when creating your flashcards, whether they are digital or not.Ā
here is a method on how to use flashcardsĀ that i personally follow. i highly recommend this method, as it is all about repetition, repetition, repetition.
personally, i aim to review each set of flashcards once a day by myself. sometimes, i get a native to quiz me over text, which means i practise writing the words out or they quiz me over phone call, and then i am practising speaking. the four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking are very important and they should all be incorporated somehow when reviewing vocab lists, etc.
find a native friend
a native in your target language is a god-saver. trust me. obviously, they must be willing to want to teach you occasionally, but they must not be your only source of learning.
you may know someone in real life that speaks your target language. thatās great! some do not however, but fear not. there are billions of internet users, and you are bound to find someone who is not only a native in your target language, but someone you connect with on a more personal level. tumblr is a great way to find friends, the langblr community is great here. you can find blogs in your native language as well if you type in the name of the language.
this is a tip i donāt find often on guides in the langblr community. many often think you can only learn from: textbooks, teachers or through self-studying. native speakers are another source you can learn from. they understand the culture of their country: you can pick up a lot of information by simply just talking to them. you can pick up on slang you wouldnāt have otherwise learnt, words that are abbreviated, etc.Ā
of course this is not a complete guide. this is based off my experience with eleven years of learning languages, and what works for me the best. what works for me may not work for you and that is completely fine. everyone needs to study in different ways. i hope you learnt something new from this guide. good luck with your language learning!
Hello guys, today is my first time entering an art contest like this. To start: Rake through all your junk in your desk drawers, under your bed, and every other nook and cranny. And if youāre anything like me, you might be a bit of a hoarder, so throw that old receipt away (or old kinder egg surprise in my case) and move on. Ask yourself, will I really need this in the future?
1. Now that thatās all done, my number 1 thing is to keep things minimal! Donāt go overboard with decorating because in the long run there will be an accumulation of clutter again.
2. Use baskets, small box shelves, and boxes for storage. Inside of these there is no organization whatsoever but at least it makes me look and feel organized.
3. Use mason jars to store things. I use them for my pens and pencils, makeup brushes, and to hold small change.
4. Keep a hamper nearby so that you arenāt tempted to throw clothes on the floor or on the back of that chair. You know which chair Iām talking about, the one thatās about to topple over, yea that one.
5. Make your bed in the morning! It takes two minutes, and all I do is pull the comforter up to the pillows and fold it back. This will put your whole day in motion towards feeling more organized (The throw pillows donāt make it up there every morning but I try.)Ā
6. Now this step (is extra) was hard for me, so this is more like an if-you-are-up-for-it kind of a step. I started to make a bullet journal, creating pretty lists made me feel like I had my life together even though I spent no time doing actual work and I spent two hours trying to make sure the letter āhā was pretty. So if you decide to tackle it maybe set aside some time on a weekend afternoon to creating a pretty list of things youād like to do this fall!
Get organizing! Or napping, because I usual op for a nap ;)
