HOMOMILITIA is a polish crust/anarchopunk band from the city of Łódź. The band was created in 1991, fully existing till the year 2000. The band consisted of 5 members nicknamed Strzałka, Sucha, Wojtas/Wojti, Zbój and Irek, and for some time Herman and Mopsiu. Their lyrics portrayed views typically seen in the punk scene, considered very radical at the time. Their first album "Twoje ciało-twój wybór" (trans. "Your body-your choice") spoke out about topics of homophobia, discrimination, racism, feminism and abortion.
The lead singer and front man - Wojciech "Wojtas/Wojti" Krawczyk was openly homosexual. He died a year after thier second realise "S/t" (2020) in march of 2021 from covid-19. The band helped spread a bunch of popular phrases used in the punk community to this day.
In june 2022 a tribute record to the band titled "Nic więcej do powiedzenia" (trans. "Nothing more to say") was released. It consisted of 14 tracks, every single one performed by a different band.

The production studio at "Baby, the Stars Shine Bright" featured in an episode of Tokyo Fashion Express. Their designs typically require up to 50 sewing patterns, which is about 5 times as many as the average dress. Detailed notes on measurements and specifications are written for the sewing factory.
The sewing factory is in Ibaraki prefecture. For more than 20 years they've been sewing clothes exclusively for BTSSB. 17 people work there, most of them being veterans age 60 or over. Due to the complexity they work in teams for ironing, sewing lace and ribbons, as well as completing gathers and frills.
The manager of the factory, Sumiko Watahiki, says in an interview: "There's tons of gather, lace, and layering, which requires a lot of sewing. At first, I doubted I could do it! It was that hard. (But) I'm always impressed with the adorable designs when I see the finished products or while I work."

Alcci wears Juliette et Justine’s “sacrifice pour servir” jsk in ivory. It is also known as the crucifixion dress. Unsure from these photos if it is the velveteen version or not.

an interesting piece of lolita history has popped up for sale a couple of months ago - a nearly 40 year old cutsew with a "Pretty" (Angelic Pretty) tag, but a "Baby The Stars Shine Bright" on the care instructions tag inside.
Back then, AP was a select shop called "Pretty" that resold other brands, it wasn't until the rebrand to Angelic Pretty in 2001 where they began to produce and sell only their own clothing designs. The seller guesses that this is "probably clothes that were created before BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT became independent as a brand and was sold under the Pretty tag" - something so rare as to have both an AP/Pretty tag and BTSSB tag, in near-perfect condition; this should be donated to a museum!!

Today The Virgin Mary closes its doors after 17 years.
Previously known as CULT PARTY for its first 4 years of business and the birth place of cult party kei, The Virgin Mary was a highly influential and renowned vintage shop that inspired several fashion brands/designers. The shop and cult party kei’s impact could be seen across Japanese street fashion between the late 2000s through early/mid 2010s. Grimoire (the birth of the dolly kei)— another famous vintage shop from the same era— came to be as a result of The Virgin Mary’s influence.
There is no denying The Virgin Mary’s success and place in Japanese street fashion history, it’s especially heartbreaking to see the store close as it is one of the last major vintage shops left from this era of fashion. Grimoire had already closed their doors after a 15 year run.
While cult party kei has dwindled in popularity since the late 2010s, as of the early 2020s there is still a small dedicated community online who wear and keep the fashion alive today.
Thank you Ari and the wonderful staff at The Virgin Mary for 17 years!
