Fight Like a Girl Hand-Painted T-Shrit

Inspired by the strength and valor of the Womens March on Washington, I decided to support the movement the way I know best: with artwork. This t-shirt is the product of that inspiration. I made a drawing awhile back called Fight Like a Girl, featuring a woman boxing with the saying on a banner hanging on a wall. I wanted to make this idea of feminine strength and persistence available to everyone, so the phrase you fight like a girl would never be used in a derogatory sense again. The t-shirt itself is a womens V-neck in black. The design is hand-painted using fabric paint and cardboard cuts of the designs different features. Please note that although I do use different cardboard cutouts to try and get the design precise on each t-shirt, they might vary slightly from shirt to shirt, as I still have to have paint them.

I was so inspired by the strength of the women of the Women’s March on Washington that I wanted to contribute to the cause the way I knew best: with artwork. I had made a pen drawing last year of a woman boxing with the phrase “Fight Like a Girl” on a banner on one of the walls, and I decided to take that symbol and saying as the focal point of this project. “You fight like a girl” should never be taken as something derogatory, rather it should be a source of strength and pride that pushes women to keep moving forward. 

The design is now being offered as a t-shirt on my Etsy site. If you’re interested please take a look, I want this phrase to spread and serve as a catalyst for this incredible movement.

Your worth as an artist is not determined by the number of Tumblr notes you get. Followers are NOT a currency. Don’t worry about instant gratification, because you’re creating something only you can own for the rest of your life! It will take you longer to build up an audience around something that doesn’t have a pre-loaded fanbase. In fact it’ll probably take longer than you think, but you’ll have a much more satisfying artistic career.

Sharpie on plexiglass drawing I made of a moment that I’ve observed on a recent walk

Hey guys! I know it’s been awhile since I last posted, but I have some exciting news. After a lot of thought and prep work, I have opened up my own shop on Etsy. If you don’t know, Etsy is a website where artists and other craft workers such as myself can sell our work. The community is amazing and people make many different kinds of beautiful work. 

Right now I’m mainly focusing on paintings in a fluid acrylic style like the ones shown above (I mix water and acrylic paint together to make really cool patterns). All of the pictures above are paintings on my shop for sale. Later on, I plan on selling different 3D printed models, characters, and designs as well.
