Text: I want you to know about… Autistic Shutdown
Autistic shutdown is like an internalized meltdown. While the person is experiencing a lot of emotions, they can’t express them outwardly.
It may look like this:
Zoning out
Exhaustion/falling asleep
Hiding/defensive position
How can allistic (non-autistic) folks help?
Safety first! Help them to a quiet space w minimal simuli
Be sensory sensible! Have a kit tailored to their need (eg ear defenders, stuffie or squishy and blanket)
Eliminate all expectations/demands. They are currently overloaded.
Reduce interaction, giving them time and space (shh..)
Remember:
Autistic shut-down is NOT stubborness, laziness or disrespect
Autistic shut-down IS involuntary, painful, exhausting Please be patient and compassionate.

The Stonewall Riots happened between June 28-July 3, 1969.
Led by Black and Brown trans women, the riots were a catalyst for change and are the reason why we celebrate Pride. We’ve come a long way but we still have more work to do against transphobia and racial injustice.
Keep fighting.

So what we're not gonna do is imagine Tim. We're not gonna imagine Tim after the attack on the archives by Jane Prentiss, seeing Sasha for the first time. We're not gonna imagine how relieved he was. Sasha disappeared during the attack, but here she is! Maybe a little shaken up, but more or less okay. He'd been more worried for her than for himself, but they had both come out of it alright. Don't imagine Tim months later, when grief doesn't feel quite right and he still can't remember the colour of her hair. Don't think about how he probably, secretly, wished she would have just died. Then he would have had time to mourn like normal. Now he doesn't even know how.
