Yes Dilla is blind, she and her twin brother Ballard were born blind and had to train hard to sharpen their other senses so they could survive and thrive as part of the Omatikaya clan.

Her eyes are also something we have chosen to keep from her original design to this Avatar AU. In our original story she's a Tribal Galhot, a fantasy race of people who are all blind but with very developed hearing and other senses:

I have never agreed to something more in my life- like there are those who are like- “he’s just broken, I can fix him” no bitch he’s a jerk and literally harassed and beat people, and on the flip side of that he genuinely cared about those he was closest to and was willing to put himself in harms way for them because he knew what he could and couldn’t handle; that’s why I love him so much.
