sculpting the land: artistic interventions with the landscape - strijdom van der merwe (2005)
i slept in a plywood prop coffin once on tour and while i think i maybe woke up a little whenever i had to roll over it was otherwise a wonderful experience. nowhere near as claustrophobic as i might have feared and it was pretty warm and snug with the lid on
i think it would be great to sleep in a coffin actually. not goth or suicidal but instead very autistic about my sleeping environment
do you still see the woman I am? can you?
plaster, burlap, steel, cotton rope. 2024.
Made by taking alginate lifecasting molds of my body and pouring liquid plaster into the molds and suspending the casts from a welded frame.
This was originally an exploration of my dysphoria, the physical aspect i feel in seeing my own body, but also the social aspect of dysphoria and being put into boxes by those that perceive us. After finishing it feels more like a celebration of my transness, the beauty in trans femininity, and a celebration of my body despite the persistence of dysphoria and shame from society. Thanks for viewing.

fyi the point of fucking up your data patterns isnt to avoid suspicion. it’s to make EVERYONE suspicious. same logic as the bloc, pals. protect your comrades, be suspicious. ESPECIALLY if you aren’t doing anything likely to get you arrested.
stop telling trans girls that "it's okay to be a feminine man" and start saying it to "cis" girls with a little bit of a fujoshi vibe instead. would have saved me years.
