“No reason,” he said with a smirk.

I cocked my eyebrow at him, knowing very well that there was never “no reason” for a look like that. We stood at my front door after a night in the city–––drunk with the tension and realization that all of this was way more than just a friendship. There was something real and something fiery buried deep inside of us that we were finally allowing to become a reality.

But we would never say.

No, no––that’d be far too easy.

“No reason?” I questioned.

He held my gaze so intensely for so long that I could feel my knees getting weak. Then the overwhelming sensation of wanting his lips on mine and his body pressed up against me began to flood over me. He leaned into me, keeping his eyes in line with mine and smiled.
