Shimmering moth dusted moon maiden
Her skirts spun from the last of setting sun at the nether of day
Dripping dew tossing up a wake of mist obscuring stars
Night soft and certain bows beneath her slippered feet
I sleep her light upon my cheek knowing nothing of her innocence.

Psychotic Charles IV slew his own knights
Paranoid Ivan T. tortured subjects on Saturday afternoons
Oh, and don’t forget George III ranting incoherently as
America broke away Swearing off kings forever…

We are looking for a house to keep dreaming really
I like tall grass and wildflowers hardly suitable for some respectable old manor nestled up on the hill of old St. Albans town.
Just a little way down out of town? You say
There is this fine old farmstead over looking Champlain
two Acres of fine grassy knolls but alas We are not people who mow
We would need goats to keep the field neat
I like goats you smile
I smile We can milk them and make soap
We are looking for a house to keep You and I
Victorian with turret? I say dreaming really
I’m so in love with you.

Mooring lost Battered upon the sharp reef I could only be counted as flotsam A bottle with no message Driven out into a howling sea Without a cry
Stranded in this bottle I lost the sea Peering out through the wavy glass I saw nothing I felt nothing So fearful was the loss
The bottle has long broken There are bits of sea glass That can’t cut anyone Even me Scattered now Among my bones
You ask me to examine them now These old hurts and betrayals I see only soft light The kind you find both at dawn and sunset
We are all subject to the tide I suppose, It steals our voice and brings it back again.

I looked for you Everywhere
You had a bit part in Houp La! The almost forgotten circus musical extravaganza
You were the lion tamer of all things I cannot reconcile your angelic Countenance with Whips and roaring ravenous beasts.
And here your trail grows cold
Did a lion eat you? Did you marry and lose yourself? Did you grow hungry as your beauty fell away? Did you end up lifting your skirts in some London Alley?
One hundred and fifteen years on you are simply
Gone
Except for your sweet, copyrighted smile.

Defying Gravity
Defying Gravity is possible Consider when you left me I stayed in perfect Balance In defiance Of the inescapable Magnitude Of Your
Receding
Just prior to crashing to the ground.

Look at you carrying around night in jar Daughter of Chaos
Empty your vessel as the sun retreats And let me sleep under the liquid deep
Endless Ocean Of universe Sprinkled With stars.

Catch me like there is no net My dear I am counting on you
I am the first of us to Let go
To believe With outstretched Hands
In the moment One reaches For love
Timing is everything A net will not Stop the fall
Hearts still Break.

In the daytime people are hidden The building keeping secrets Of things done in the living room Or the boudoir
No one privy to ordinary And extraordinary comings and goings
In the nighttime backlit lives reveal Themselves In bright snippets of window light In hazy shadows playing on lowered shades In the soft outlines of darkness
Ordinary And extraordinary Comings and goings For everyone to see.
