Always a mystery to him

Ch.2

Casey’s mind was still racing as they entered the manhole to the lair , he was still wondering how Leo could be…alive? It was strange, as they walked to the med-bay the blue turtle’s adrenaline started to drop drastically he started to cry and whine to be put down on the med-bay bed, no matter how scratchy or uncomfortable they were. As the snapping turtle complied the purple one started to search desperately for the book that Leo always had for the other just in case he wasn’t able to heal the others, ripping apart the cabinets before reality started to set in “Leo left it at Aprils” the soft shell declared dreadfully, the others started to worry, none of them knew how to heal someone this injured. Casey started to speak up “I-i can help him, he taught me how to deal with stuff this bad in my timeline” the others perked up at the sound of the teens voice “of course he did” the purple one sighed , the red one started to speak “that’s great case! We’ll be in the other room while you patch him up, call us over if you need some help” the eldest turtle started to lead the rest of the group out of the med-bay and to the living room while taking one of the med-kits to patch up the others. The raven haired boy watched as the others walked out before turning to the blue one “alright, you ready for this?” The boy asked as he grabbed a bottle of iodine “as I’ll ever be” the turtle replied. As Casey cleaned the slider’s wounds, bandaged them and stapled his shell back together , apologizing at every wince and cry as he was still worried about how their relationship would be after this. He spoke as he wrapped the last wound “alright, I’m all done, you doing good?” The boy asked, the slider looked over his body “yeah I’m good, you did great actually” the blue one compliments , the turtle continues “hey can you bring me over to everyone else?” The teen looks nervous, not only that the turtle was extremely injured but the blue one couldn’t even walk “I’m not sure if you should move around, you just got totaled by the Kraang” the boy reminds while stitching and wrapping his own wounds “hey doesn’t that hurt?” The blue one quizzes , tilting his head with astonishment as he watches the boy stitch himself up, the boy thinks for a second, for as long he could remember he could shut out the pain in his body in order to focus on whatever mission he was on “I don’t know really” he finally comes up with an answer, he just knows that he’s able to make himself…numb when he wanted . The turtle continues to speak “well when you’re done can you please take me to the living room? I promise I won’t complain that it hurts when you do and if Donnie yells at you I’ll take the blame” the slider begs , the teen thinks for a moment “he did say he’ll take the blame” he thinks “ah, whatever” the dark haired boy complies, supporting the sliders side. As they walk into the living room they see the rest of the group on the couch and sitting on the floor, as they see the two they all scoot over in order to make room for the slider, April starts to speak as the long haired boy helps Leo to sit “hey boys, Leo how ya doing?” The girl asks “I’m fine April, Casey patched me up good” the blue one reassures, the girl looks over at the other human taking in his ripped clothes, turtle inspired armor and his hair, probably soaked with sweat, grease, and probably blood, she stands up and walks over to him “hey future boy, follow me” she demanded before grabbing his hand and leading him into the bathroom “stay here” he commands before walking out. Once the girl walks back, Casey notices that she’s carrying a pile of clothes “what’s that?” The boy questions , the other human puts the clothes on the counter and reveals an oversized green hoodie and black basketball shorts “its clothes for after you shower since you don’t have your own yet” she answers before starting to lead Casey through the different soaps and what to do with them and how to turn on the shower while getting him his own loofah and bar of soap “these will be yours, now I don’t want you coming out of there

until you smell completely of lavender and coconut and really get into your hair, it really needs some work” she commented before exiting the bathroom and leaving the boy alone . As he got out of the shower and started putting on his clothes, he took one last look at his scars and slipped on the donated oversized green hoodie, Casey stared at himself in the cracked mirror, noticing how when the hoodie would brush against his skin he could see his ribs peeking through it and how he had to tie up some of the waistband of the basketball shorts with a hair tie he found on the floor so they wouldn’t fall off, as he brushed his hair he thought “do I deserve this? I hurt Leo so bad and they’re giving me all of this?” As he finished brushing his hair and walks out of the bathroom he notices Leo and Donnie arguing over something called “Jupiter Jim”. As he stands in the hallway watching the commotion, Mikey notices him from afar then walks up to the teen “come over here” the box turtle grabs his hand then leads him over to the couch while explaining why the twins are arguing “and yeah that’s it” he finishes explaining before sitting down and signaling for Casey to do so as well, as the teen sat down between Mikey and Leo he wondered “what in hell is a “Jupiter Jim?” As he watched the fight go down for so long that his hair dried by the end of it, he noticed that since his hair was finally clean, his hair was more fluffy? That’s strange, his hair was always strait with little swoops at the bottom and matted but now his hair was wavy , fluffy and soft, weird, he thought before suddenly being pulled by his prosthetic arm and suddenly having an arm around him , it was Leo “right Casey?!” The slider shouted, the teen was left stunned “what are you talking about? I wasn’t listening” the boy admitted “I said ‘Jupiter Jim is actually hallucinating the entire storyline, right Casey’” the boy was so confused as to what the blue one was talking about “the fuck is a ‘Jupiter Jim’?” The boy responds, dazed. Everyone looked at him surprised and slightly appalled “HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT JUPITER JIM IS” the slider yelled breaking the silence , the blue one started to rant about how even in an apocalypse he would raise whatever child he had to love and cherish Jupiter Jim . Casey smiled as Leo would continue to talk, once Leo stopped talking and continued watching the movie in front of them Casey could feel the slider playing with his hair and massaging his scalp since his arm was still around him, Casey felt strangely…safe, most of the time when people would touch his head he would freak out and try to fight them but he felt safe, in fact, he felt like sleeping which was weird too. Casey yawned and his eyes were half-lidded “hah, looks like somebody’s tired” April teased, causing everyone to look toward the boy “aw, sleepy” Mikey coo’d “makes sense, looks like he hasn’t slept in a week” Donnie added, pointing out the dark circles under the teens eyes. Casey thinks about how the soft shell was correct, he hasn’t slept in a long time and with the thing that just happened , he was even more drowsy, Leo held the drowsy teen closer and pulled a blanket over him. That made the teen even more tired , as the sound of the movie in front of the group muffled as he fell into slumber he heard one last thing, the sound of Donnie…counting down? “Five, four, three, two, one” he succumbed to the land of slumber, happy to be able to see another day.
