Jason is so villain coded and that's why richard had to kill him off. Because if I had been used as a pawn by the gods not once but twice, when I was two years old and when I was 15 against my will, and my mom abandoned me with that express purpose giving me abandonment issues for years to come, and my older sister thought I was dead so she's moved on to better things before she found me again, and my gf broke up with me because she was questioning if our relationship was ever worth it based on fake memories she had that I didn't, and my first ever best friend died (but is actually alive), and the camp that I called my home that expected me to be their leader since I showed up as a toddler threw a brick at me the moment they suspected I was a traitor, and I was stuck at a boarding school alone miles away from the other camp I called a home etc etc all the while being THE honorable dutiful soldier I was expected to be. I would totally like. Become a bad guy. Literally there would be no other direction for my character to go. OH AND BY THE WAY i didn't even know my own birthday until I turned 16 <3 Jason would have deserved it

I really want to, I can tell you that much.

I have quite a lot of ideas for the fic that I haven't mentioned and as the moment it's a scattered mess of scenes in my head that I know for a fact I could weave together in a coherent narrative if I just sat down and focused on it for a few days.

But out of the 23 Leo Valdez fic Ideas I got in my docs at the moment, this one I feel would be on the long long side of things. Like, longer than any fic I've written before as there are layers to this thing, and a lot of it would be a rewrite of stuff from pjo and the entirety of hoo and toa.

Not only that, but I decided that I was going to focus on finishing my one-shots as soon as I have time in my personal life to get back to writing fanfics (the one I'm currently posting is pre-written) since I am unfortunately incredibly busy all the time now. So I'm sorry to say that it may be a while until I actually write the fic, but rest assured, I will not forget about it, and I think it would be an incredibly fun concept to tackle, especially with all the twists, turns, betrayals and inevitable friendship and healing that would happen. I've had multiple people express interest thus far, so who knows! There is a very good chance it's the next long-fic I'll decide to write when the time comes.

If there is anything you are curious about though feel free to send me asks about it! I am definitely willing to answer stuff about the au that doesn't directly spoil major plot beats or anything like that!

i will never understand how people have the heart to hate Jason even after they found out that his Ambrosia tastes like fucking sawdust. Ambrosia being tasty is like one single happy thing a demigod can have despite their tragic lives, because it reminds them of the home they once had, but lost. And Jason doesn't even have that, he doesn't even have a home to lose in the first place.

Jason getting glasses is actually so symbolic of his duality imo. You know how there are idioms that go 'look behind one's lens" ?? That applies perfectly to Jason.

He also had a coin for a weapon, maybe representing that he has "two sides of the same coin" ??

Jason is absolutely terrifying if he's driven over the edge, something that doesn't happen often (thank you Rick for showing us how much you hate making jason interesting or powerful) like when his fingers started sparking after he realised Piper and the others were on the argo ii when some kind of creatures starts attacking the ship, when Caligula broke Piper's jaw ultimately setting Jason off, or when he and Percy chose to unleash their full potential of storms in MOA together.

He can be legitimately SO cold, ruthless and indifferent if he wants to, till the point where it shocks his friends, like how he didn't trust Nico and didnt feel keen on saving him, saying in an abnormally casual way that it was perfectly okay to leave him to die at Rome in FRONT of the said boy's sister, causing Hazel to start being really scared and paranoid to be alone with Jason (I know this is widely used a reason to hate him in the fandom, but I find his nonchalant coldness towards the Nico situation extremely realistic considering how he was brought up in Camp Jupiter. Camp Jupiter is always attack and not defend, and they're ruthless in nature, so much so till the point where that amount of cruelty is considered very normal, and even a desirable quality for a perfect roman. Hazel obviously wasn't exposed to this as she was only in CJ for a very short period of time, so she took it as a shock. And considering that Jupiter is Jason's dad, you can't expect any sort trait of Jupiter to NOT seep onto his son right? Thalia can be extremely ruthless and merciless too, like when she had no hesitation in wanting to go against Luke in TLO even after Percy showed Luke sympathy after he saw Luke's younger memories) and notice how coldly Jason talked to his enemies (sciron for example).

His eyes are even considered ’cold and calculating’ and even Annabeth, the number one intimidator, felt personally intimidated and said that Jason made her extremely nervous and uncomfortable simply with the way he was looking at her like he knew too much information/was hiding many things. Annabeth knew that Jason was smart in a very dangerous way and that he could use information against her, that's coming from the daughter of Athena herself so you could imagine how genuinely threatening jason could look.

But he could be the sweetest guy ever?? Jason goes up to Nico's cabin bc he wanted to give him a hug and constantly kept reassuring Nico that he wanted to be his friend even after Nico's indifference in HOH. He took Piper on a secret get away date on his cabins rooftop, breaking the rules to make her happy, genuinely thinks that he would turn into a tree like his sister had because he thought it was customary for all Zeus kids, so much so that it made Annabeth laugh, etc.

"Did they have to hit so hard?" Leo asked as Will put the burn creams over his wounds.

"You scared us." Will replied and Leo rolled his eyes.

"And that explains it because?"

"It hurt when you died Leo. You hurt us." He said and Leo snatched his arm away.

"Oh fuck you!" He spat and glared at him.

"What did you want me to do? Let her destroy everything?"

"No, but... you could've done something else."

"Thanks, Solace!" He said sarcastically. "Such a huge help!"

"You don't get to be mad. None of you do. Especially not at me."

"Why? Because you sacraficed yourself for us? So you want the princess treatment?"

"Because I don't even know any of you! Especially not some Glow Stick I talked to once! I barely had any time when I first got to Camp because I went on a quest the day after I got here! And when I got back I have to build a war machine??? I didn't have time to get to know anyone else besides my siblings and Jason and Piper! None of you have any right to be mad at some strangers sacrafice!!" He yelled breathing heavily.
