Fitzsimmons: hostages from hell

Friend, I have been laughing about this prompt for weeks – I hope you hadn’t given up on me because I’m only just getting to it now, but I hope this drabble does it justice! This could be a whole freaking hilarious fic on its own but here’s what I’ve got for now.

They’re so used to being kidnapped by now that when their cab is hijacked while they’re on vacation, Jemma just rolls her eyes and mutters through the sack over her head, “Oh, for goodness sake.”

The news that they’re being held as leverage against Coulson still comes as a bit of a relief, really, because it significantly lowers the levels of pain and intimidation they’re likely to endure while they wait for rescue or an exchange.  On the scale of hostage situations, this one – tied up next to each other on a bed in a motel room – is actually quite cushy.

So, knowing what they know and jaded as they are about the whole thing, Fitz and Jemma decide to have a bit of fun.

It starts out simply enough. When the guards bring food, Jemma belches loudly in their faces and Fitz shoots out a spurt of water like a fountain, grinning at the drenched guards as water dribbles down his chin. Fairly soon the guards draw straws on who has to feed the prisoners. Fitzsimmons can’t high-five, tied as they are, but they sort of self-congratulatorily bump elbows.

They don’t even need to discuss it – the annoying things just sort of develop.

“Hey, Simmons, look at this–”

Fitz rotates his wrist, head cocked expectantly, and the whole room hears bones crack. The guards by the door exchange a glance.

“Ever since I broke my arm in the pod, I’ve been able to do that whenever I want.”

“And how long can that go on, Fitz?”

“Hours.”

They look at the guards and smirk.

They recite the entirety of The Big Lebowski from memory. (Jemma insists on voicing The Dude.)

Fitz whistles the Doctor Who theme music.

They sing – and harmonize on – “This Is the Song That Never Ends”, turning it into a round, developing new melodies, and adding their own lyrics. Every time they pause for breath the guards visibly relax, but then one or the other will start it up again.

They sing for nearly three hours.

Jemma demonstrates frog sounds for Fitz.

“–And this one’s a bull frog–”

“You sound like you’re dying,” he chuckles.

“Well, the lady frogs would definitely disagree with you on that one. This is a beeping froglet–”

“Like this?” Fitz tries to replicate the sound she’s just made.

“That’s quite good, Fitz! Just a bit higher-pitched – there you go–”

“It’s like the class-clown phase we never got to have,” Fitz mutters to Jemma when the guards threaten to duct-tape their mouths unless they shut up.

“Speaking of clowns, do you know what you’re supposed to do if you’re attacked by a mob of clowns, Fitz?” Jemma says loudly.

“What’s that, Jemma?” Fitz echoes, playing along.

“Go for the juggler!”

“SHUT THE HELL UP!” someone shouts.

Jemma collapses sideways against Fitz, giggling.

Daisy and May arrive less than a day after the initial kidnapping, easily knocking the guards out and untying the pair of them.

“I just don’t understand how they didn’t notice you sending messages through your watch,” May frowns, examining the device on Fitz’s wrist.

“We kept them well entertained,” Jemma smirks.

“What’d you do, make out in front of them?” Daisy asks, wrinkling her nose.

“Oh, Fitz, we didn’t even think of that! Can you tie us back up and come back in a few hours?”

D -Dates

- On their first date after they start dating Jemma insists they go back to the restaurant he took her to before. Fitz is confused as to why, but she tells him that it was so romantic and beautiful and she ruined it. She wanted a do-over, the date she dreamed of when she was on Maveth, and Fitz definitely delivered.  - On their second date, Jemma takes Fitz to the movies. She pays for the tickets and the food, even though Fitz moans about it. They spend the entire time cuddled up, their eyes fixed on the screen. They enjoy it so much they make it a monthly tradition.  - They try their best to have date night each week, but sometimes it’s hard to find time to leave the base. They try their best with what they have, so sometimes they have movie marathons or have dinner separate from the others. They usually take turns planning date night, and Jemma swears that Fitz’s dates will always be better than hers but Fitz refuses to agree - once they leave SHIELD, date nights become a regular thing. They become determined to try all the restaurants in Perthshire.

Academy flashback ft (Ugh!) Milton

“Fitz, this is Milton,”

Jemma stood in his doorway, with a bushy haired guy on herarm.

Fitz didn’t like any of the guys had dated, not that he waspetty or jealous, but they just weren’t good enough. All of the people Jemmahad dated her older than her and were all pricks. Every time Jemma boughtanother guy to meet him he would pretend to roll his eyes. But he respectedJemma, and she was her own person who didn’t need his permission on who todate, so he left them alone. He only acted as a listening ear and a shoulder tocry on once everything went sour.

Milton wasn’t any different, although he was younger thanthe others, Fitz could already tell he was a prick. He was Jemma’s usual type.Older than her, taller than her and in the top twenty-five in the academy’srankings.

“Uh…hi,” Fitz greeted, holding out a hand for Milton toshake. Milton’s hands were clammy and warm, and the feel of them disturbed hima bit

“So how are things with Milton?” Fitz asked as they walkedto their next class 

Jemma shrugged “Fine, I guess. We went to a movie last nightbut it was kind of boring. It was something Milton wanted to see, so I went.”

“What was it?” Fitz asked

Jemma shrugged again “I honestly don’t even remember what itwas called. Some mindless, plotless action film.”

Fitz chuckled “Of course Milton would like action films. Hashe even seen an episode of Doctor Who?”

“No!” Jemma moaned “And he doesn’t even want too. Doesn’t heunderstand that Doctor Who and I are a package deal.”

“I’m sorry Jemma, but your Boyfriend has no taste.” Fitzlaughed. And he was right, Milton had never watched Doctor Who or even thoughtto pick up a Harry potter book. Now, Fitz knew it wasn’t nice to judge butDoctor who and Harry potter were two of Jemma’s favourite things.

“He is not going to enjoy it when Doctor Who comes back nextyear,” Jemma Joked.

If he’s even around next year.

He wasn’t around next year. A couple months after thatconversation, Jemma had stormed into his room at midnight, tears streaming downher face.

“We broke up,” She cried into his shoulder.

“Did he dump you?” Fitz asked softly. The idea seemed vileto him. Why someone wouldn’t want to spend the rest of their days with Jemmawas beyond him.

“No. I dumped him.”

Fitz pulled away to look at her. He didn’t understand whyshe was so sad if she dumped him.

“What’s wrong then?” He asked

“Ugh! Fitz!” She slapped him on the arm “I really liked him,but it was like he didn’t have any individual thought, except his hatred forDoctor Who and Harry Potter. I really wanted things to work with him.”

Fitz sighed and pulled her back into his embrace.

“I’m sorry Jemma,” He whispered into her hair.

“I can’t believe I even dated him,” Jemma laughed, her armslung around his shoulder.

“Even though I’m definitely enjoying this conversation aboutmy girlfriends Ex’s, I have to agree.”

Jemma laughed “He hadn’t even read harry potter. Everyone’sread at least one harry potter book.”

“Even May,” Fitz pointed out. 

Jemma sighed and leaned back against him.

“See, your perfect,” Jemma told him. She turned her head tolook at him, happy with the small smile on his face from her comment. Sheleaned forward and rubbed her nose against his before pressing a soft kiss tohis lips.

“Do I meet all your requirements?” He asked after she pulledaway. 

“Hmmm, let us see. You’re older than me.”

“Only by 23 days,” He interrupted

“Taller than me-“

“Although, you have to admit, still quite short”

“And in the top 25 of the academy’s ranking.”

“More like top two,” He pointed out

Jemma stared at him again, her eyes soft. She was beautiful,especially when she smiled softly at him. He could stare at her all day likeshe was a masterpiece painted by a world famous artist.

He leaned in to kiss her again, her lips soft against his.

“you’re perfect,” She repeated, her forehead pressed againsthis.

KEVIN FEIGE MAY HAVE JUST CONFIRMED ‘BLACK WIDOW’ MOVIE IS IN DEVELOPMENT!

Kevin Feige was asked about future Marvel movies and franchises and this was his response;

“We’ve announced the next 9 movies, 10 counting Civil War, through the end of 2019. Where we’ll go beyond that are ongoing discussions that we’ll focus on in the next few years because we have a lot to do before then. I would say certainly that the one we’re creatively and emotionally committed to doing is Black Widow. We think she’s an amazing character. We think Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of her is amazing. She’s a lead Avenger and has amazing stories to tell in her own right to tell that we think would be fun to turn into a stand alone franchise”

A lot of people are taking this as confirmation of a Black Widow movie in development, however we would take this one with a grain of salt until further info is released!
