Yes, the hole everyone is feeling—like they’re not quite right—is caused by Palette’s aura, which he inherited from Dream. (He’s not aware of that.)
There are a few different interpretations of who is affected by it, but here’s mine: very powerful or glitched people, like Error or Core Frisk, or gods (even if only in their own world), like all of Aftertale. Then there are Parasites, or people who are in control of their emotions, like Fresh and Ink—they would be immune (as well as their offspring).
(There’s also one other method I want to introduce later as a way to avoid it—if I stay motivated long enough to actually finish the story!)
Also, thank you for the compliment on the drawing and their dynamic! I tried not to write them as a ship (even if I do ship them), but more as a friendship—because that’s what they both really need.
And also, thanks for the feedback and questions—they really help motivate me to write the parts I normally don’t enjoy so much.
When Core found the box, they weren’t surprised for long. Omnipresence gave them the context they needed quickly. Gently, they lifted the tiny skeleton from the box, holding him with quiet care.
Core didn’t waste any time. This lonely nowhere was no place for him, so it was time to bring the newest inhabitant of the Omegatimeline home. And Palette was never alone again Core would make shure of that.
A small, winged friend he made almost immediately upon arrival was never far from his side.Goth and Palette grew up together, practically attached at the hip. It was rare to see one without the other. The little angel of death was the first Palette truly connected with—besides his Granpa. Palette was never bored with Goth. Most others were strange to Palette; he always had the feeling no one was real with him, always trying to please him. But Goth did fight with him. He yelled, he cried, they made up, they laughed—and everything felt real.
It was strange. Everyone besides Granpa and Goth felt not right. They always felt… not quite right!—
And for Goth, Palette was the first friend he could actually hug. Life as a reaper could be lonely. His father once told him only special people could get close to them. Goth agreed—Palette really was special
The two grew side by side, inseparable and happy for years and years
Until the day Palette decided to leave. Goth tried not to lash out—after all, he was not just mad he was sad.
He didn’t want Palette to leave, but he also didn’t want to hold him back. His father once said when you love something, you have to let it go—and when it comes back, it belongs to you. Goth really hoped his best friend would find what they were searching for… and would return.

I have two questions about the UTMV Fusion post. I saw the answer about how Ink, Error, Nightmare, and Dream feel about Fusion, but I would like to know:
How does Cross feel when he’s fused or after they fuse? Also, does Nightmare’s gang exist in this? And do they know about Nightmare’s ability?
(Love the designs espacialy the Cross/Dream Fusion)
Y’all are certainly cooking with the questions !! And thank you, I’m glad you like my designs :]!
Long post ahead !
How does Cross feel when he’s fused / during the soul-fuse ?
Cross, like most in and outcodes was not even aware it was a thing. Ink and Error were the only example before the twins and they figured it out later on.
A very cool person ( @jupiter-on-the-compupiter !! ) had mentioned in the tags that it could be because they’re part of the balance, they represent something important to the multiverse. I snatched that idea because it was just so good..
So, Cross had no darn clue. When it first happened, it was with Dream. ( which is how Star-Cross even came to be ! ) Cross was also Dream’s first time fusing after the incident.
It happened during a fight, Cross was about to get hit in the moment and Dream protected him by the way he knew to : Soul-Fusing.
It was for Cross a very surprising moment, scary at first even. In that moment, Dream was the main consciousness of the fusion’s vessel.
Cross feels odd about the fact fusions are even a thing, but he likes doing it with Dream. He hasn’t tried with the other two/three.
Does Nightmare gang exist in this ? Do they know about Nightmare’s ability ?
They do, actually !!!!
To explain, Nightmare tried to have a soul fusion as soon as he could, to see if he could still use it/be able to with other people.
Except the first person he fused with was his now right hand, Killer.
It went horribly wrong, and the fusion was so unstable due to Killer’s current soul state and Nightmare’s corruption that they defused a few moment after.
As for the other official close members ( Because Nightmare has other lackeys these guys are just his main group ) Dust and Horror don’t really know about it, but they do end up learning it through a fight. Big shock, big surprises.
The Killer and Nightmare fusion has no name as of now, so feel free to propose one ! It’s title is “the Merciless”. It’s under this !
COGITO ERGO SUM — I think, therefore a.m, I am.
A begrudging Happy Valentine's to you all! Stay safe out there, my fellow aromantics ...
Right in front of his salad :/
He So did actuly had him (and Killer) in there at first but then i wanted it to be just between the brothers :)
)just a silly littel idear that had to leave my head(
No one was sure what had triggered the fight. Between Dream and Nightmare any attempts to stop them were hopeless. It was already too late. The feelings they had long buried bubbled to the surface. All the emotions they had swallowed down to keep the fragile peace finally broke free. The multiverse held its breath as the battle unfolded a clash that could easily throw everything back into another devastating war.
Nightmare blamed Dream for everything, for not seeing his pain back then, for not stepping up when he needed him, for not stopping the villagers. In Nightmare's world Dream had turned a blind eye to his suffering, leaving him completely alone.
Dream, on the other hand, argued that they had only been eight years old. He hadn’t seen Nightmare’s pain, he hadn’t realized what was happening — but that wasn’t his fault. Nightmare could have said something, could have voiced his worries instead of shutting himself off more and more.
Dream insisted that he, too, was a victim. He pleaded, telling Nightmare how difficult it had been to wake up from his stone prison, only to find everyone he had known was dead
His friends.
The Tree.
Their Mother.
And then, to see Nightmare, his own brother, turned into a monster, trying to kill him...
He had still been just eight years old. He had been so, so alone.
Nightmare lashed out, his tentacles sharpening and twisting violently.Dream complaining to veen alone he had no idea what it ment to be alone Nightmare had been truly alone for five hundred years, awake through it all, with no one.
But Dream cut him off sharply.
"We were both alone,"
Nightmare flinched. He was too angry to truly accept those words, but he couldn’t find anything to throw back at Dream either.
And thats why Dream kept going, his voice trembling with pain:
"I was forced to grow up fast — to balance you out but so were you. Suddenly, I had to fight the only family I had left but so did you. I had to navigate a strange and confusing world... all by myself but so did you."
There was a long, heavy silence between them. Then, Dream whispered, almost too softly to hear:
"I don’t want to fight with you anymore im so tiered. But... it’s clear we both hurt each other. I just wanted my brother back i just want to be things like they were ."
Nightmare’s expression darkened. His voice was low, bitter:
"I'm not that brother anymore and you cant change me things can not be the same ever again"
Dream sighed, tears finally slipping down his cheeks and falling to the ground. He gave a small, broken nod before turning and running away, unable to stay any longer.Nightmare, left alone, lashed out against everything in his field of vision his anger and sorrow exploding outward in a storm of darkness.
And they made up again neither Nightmare nor Dream would be the same but with a lot of work they could be something new
