You see this shit? This shit is absolutely not okay. This image comes from a post by an anonymous woman, who shared these images after escaping from an abusive and controlling relationship. Her husband would frequently make her take pictures to prove where she was, and accuse her of sneaking off to cheat with a male coworker. And that is super, super fucked up. Keeping tabs on a partner all day is controlling. It’s abusive. It’s insane. You have a right to privacy, and a right to lead your own life. Someone who really loves you will trust you when you tell them where you are, and they won’t ever ask you to “prove” that you’re telling the truth. A loving partner will treat you like an adult, and won’t spy on you like an overprotective parent. This still applies, by the way, to people who have been cheated on. Yes, being cheated on is a horrible experience. No, it is not an excuse to turn into a toxic and abusive partner. Staying with a partner who has cheated means that you are agreeing to trust that person again, not that you are giving yourself free reign to micromanage and terrorize that person in the future. If, for whatever reason, you can’t bring yourself to trust your partner, you might not be ready for a relationship just yet. No one deserves to be treated like this.
Expect better. Be better.
