Barney #1: “Be quiet! This thing hears us!!!”

Troy Baker drinks Red Bull, so you know he’s evil.

So it would seem that the only place we could go after season 1 was “to hell.” I am frightened, yet wait for the podcast with bated breath. (At this point, I’m half expecting that Hitoe has developed a wicked morphine habit to overcome her curse and have friends again.)

Question: do hallucinations of past events count as “time travel” for the purposes of this watch-through? Would “The Inner Light” come during your run of TNG, or should you watch the Kamin scenes when you get to c. 1368 AD? Do you watch the hallucinatory Occupied Terek Nor scenes of “Things Past” during season 5 of DS9, or before you start TNG?
And what about erased future timeline? How do you fit in “All Good Things,” “The Visitor,” and “Endgame,” as well as ENT’s “Twilight?” Do you watch them chronologically, or do them all after as a sort of appendix to the project?
Gotta admit, this is a pretty dumb idea...but it’s exactly the sort of thing a hyper-obsessive nerd with a editing suite could devote a decade of his or her life to splicing together. I suppose it might make a cool endurance-style video installation.
I have just had a worst best idea:
Watch Star Trek in in-universe chronological order… Time travel included.
So you start by watching the 3ish minute scene of Voyager where a Q takes Voyager back to the big bang, then you move to the 4ish minute scene of Next Generation where Q takes Picard to the start of evolution on Earth, then to the DS9 episode where they go back to the 1930′s, then Star Trek 4 in the 1970′s.
Then you’re finally able to start watching Enterprise.
To steal a quote, it’s called “girl power”, not “girl ethics”.
Do you think Col. Cassandra Moore effectively utilized Girl Power when she funneled an extrajudicial paramilitary mailman towards several nominally-hostile-but-perfectly-diplomatically-tractable factions in the Mojave Wasteland
I used to have a friend who was pretty big into both WW2 militaria and animé, and she used to argue that people in both these groups have a bad habit of adopting imagery from Wilhelmite Germany in substitution for Nazi imagery as a way to glamorizing German militarism without being immediately accused of pro-Nazi sympathies. Now she was very hard-left politically, and some of this may have been hyperbolic. Still, this something that has given me pause, and I feel that Tanya the Evil does straddle the line, particularly in the later installments when WW2-era technology starts appearing. Still, while I don’t want to die on the “let people dress like Nazis!” hill, I would not ban Tanya cosplay on the grounds that it depicts a “fictitious Nazi organization,” because it bloody well doesn’t and a personal interpretation of subtext is not the same thing as out-and-out pro-Nazi propaganda, and if it is then we might as well cut out the middleman and just start arresting people because we don’t like them.
Well… that’s dumb.
Pour one out for all the stories you'll never find again, that you barely remember in totality, but that left an impression on you that you'll never forget.
The short stories from standardized tests that you only had a few minutes to read, but those minutes will last a lifetime.
The books on the library display shelf you used to occupy time until your mom could come pick you up from school.
The graphic novel you picked up when you were first getting into comics and could never find again.
The single lines or themes from stories you otherwise don't remember, save for the one thing that you saw and internalized as a new part of your personality.
Let's pour one out for the books that built us, even if we never could find them again, and couldn't of we wanted to.
Can and should! All those polar bears sitting around up there, thinking they’re better than me! I’ll settle their hash!!!!
