finished tgr and all i can think is i miss neil so bad
It just occurred to me that Andrew didn't just agree to dinner with the Hemmicks because Neil made compelling arguments or because he's soft on Neil. He agreed because Neil offered to come along. He agreed because Neil offered to have his back if he went. It's the same deal that Andrew's been making Neil the entire time: go do this thing that scares you because I've got your back.
Which makes Andrew forgiving Neil really quickly after just a few harsh words make so much sense. Because despite the outcome of that dinner and Neil's role in making it happen, he did have Andrew's back. He got to Andrew before anyone else even knew something was wrong, he brought a weapon, he hid Andrew's knives without question, he did everything Andrew needed him to do. It was a shit situation that they walked into like idiots but Neil still had his back every step of the way. Neil didn't break any promises and that counts for more in Andrew's books than any fuck-up Neil could make.
neil "i love when people are mean because omg no way my turn" josten
as a fandom i think we moved on from "and my father comes to all my games, that is enough" far too quickly.
“don🦍t believe anything your brain tells you after 9 pm” wrong. the prime time for decision making is when you🦍re sleep deprived
^example of what life would be like if we used gorillas instead of apostrophes
I can’t remember if Andrew ever canonically pulls Neil in by the grating on his helmet but
actually Andrew is a quite well adjusted regular guy for a 20 yo who was dealt a shitty hand at life and made some bad choices as a teen bc of it but he consistently goes to therapy, forms support networks and surrounds himself with kind people, and actively wants to get better, so its crazy how ppl think Neil the godfather Josten who was taken out of a crime tv show, sleeps facing the wall to put on colored contacts, makes up a new persona every time he goes grocery shopping and thinks therapists are out to get him is the normal one in that relationship
rereading the foxhole court is so funny. like Andrew took one look at Neil and was like "idk what the fuck this kid is so paranoid for but he should not be planning to flee for his life. his ass should be in the CLUB"
