{Real Talk: Lack of Male Readers.}

I think I might just make this a series of me talking from the heart, I have topics that are just about the Merlin fandom or just about fandoms. The topic I have for today is: The lack of male readers.

Okay I know there is a lot of gay ships in fandoms, but we overall have a lot of female readers and it makes me mad or just a bit sad. I know there is a lot of female readers, but males hardly get anything from fandoms. I know there is some male readers, but it’s very rare or hard to find sometimes. I want more for the males in the fandom, I know there is Male reader x Female character and it’s not as uncommon but there isn’t really any Male reader x Male character.

All i’m saying is I want to see more content for males and i’m tired of seeing ones only for females. I’m not saying stop altogether making Female reader stories, but take time to make some Male reader ones. I’m sorry if I came off rude, but I want people to listen to this.

Baking Day with Natasha

A/N- Sorry this is so short and for not posting much this week! My online classes are trying to take over my life, but things should be back to normal soon. Enjoy! The delectable scent of warm, fresh vanilla cupcakes filled the air as a pajama-clad Natasha used her special Black Widow themed oven mitts to pull out the first batch of cupcakes and set them out to cool. It was 2PM in the afternoon and you two had been baking all day. Together, you and Nat had already finished nine dozen chocolate chip ookies, two apple cakes, a snack of two baked apples, and a cherry pie. Natasha and you had started having weekly baking days on every Saturday to catch up with each other and relax after a hard week of work. "These look like they came out perfectly," Natasha's lips formed a small smile as she leaned back to admire the gorgeous cupcakes you two had made and to put the next batch in. You nodded in agreement as you grabbed the ingredients for frosting from the cupboard and asked, "Does chocolate frosting sound okay? I feel like we haven't made as many chocolate sweets today." "Y/N, does that question even need to be answered? Of course! And if any of the others have a problem with it; too bad." You turned the heat on low and melted the butter into the saucepan. Then, Natasha added in the cocoa powder while you stirred. When it was ready, you poured the mixture into a mixing bowl, turned on the mixer, and Natasha added in the remaining ingredients. The fast rate at which she poured the powdered sugar resulted in a cloud of the fine white powder covering most of the counter and the majority of your clothes. You two coughed for a bit to clear the powdered sugar from the air and then laughed. You grinned and laughed out, "How angry do you think Steve's going to be since he volunteered to clean the kitchen after we bake?" "Oh, he'll get over it," Natasha said with a smirk. Unsure what she knows that you don't and being used to her semi/cryptic replies, you simply hum in reply and turn your attention to the beeping oven. You checked the cupcakes' consistency with a toothpick, satisfied with their texture, you brought the rest of them out to cool. Natasha had begun icing the cooler ones and asked if you could fetch the sprinkles. You obliged and the two of you began frosting and decorating the cupcakes. Times like these with Natasha were always your favorite. Apart from a shared interest in archery and dogs, you and Clint share a kindhearted, protective, sarcastic, witty, and introverted personality. Pietro Maximoff would be your closest friend because he shares your protective, loyal, brave, sarcastic, witty, childish, and determined nature. I think he would really balance you out because he is outgoing and flirty whereas you are introverted and more demure. Pietro would encourage you to participate in some larger gatherings and he might be a bit pushy, ultimately though, I think he would understand that large crowds can be draining and overbearing for you. I think once he would realize this, he’d make an effort to make sure people give you some level of space at an event and would stay close by to take the brunt of the social communication of others. He would think it’s great that you play the piano and sing and I think that he would love to listen to your musical pursuits. I think you two would be major troublemakers due to your childish and emotional attitudes combined with your fierce bravery. You and Pietro would participate, start, and win in many prank wars. To everyone attending Phoenix con, if you get the chance to ask Mark a question during one of his panels please DO NOT ASK HIM why he left the show or why Crowley was killed off. We don’t know the circumstances behind Mark’s departure from Supernatural and it may be a sensitive subject for him, so please refrain from asking him about it at conventions. Please just thank him for doing an outstanding job playing Crowley for so many years and then move on and ask him about something else. I know everyone wants to know why Mark left the show, but we should be trying to make Mark’s remaining creation conventions as much fun as possible for him, so please try not to ask personal questions about him leaving the show.

Joan B. Lee: The Woman Who Saved the Marvel Universe

Joan Boocock was born on August 3, 1924, in Gosforth, Newcastle, England. In the 1940s she moved to New York City, where she married an American GI and worked as a hat model. Working at the agency, she met a young comics editor named Stanley Lieber, who worked under the pen name Stan Lee. The two fell in love instantly and she left her husband for him.

In the early 1960s, Stan Lee was feeling depressed and unhappy with his job and was seriously considering quitting the comics industry. Joan told him "Before you quit, why don’t you write one comic you are proud of?” Lee obliged and together with Jack Kirby, he created the Fantastic Four, the flawed, dysfunctional family of heroes that Lee always wanted to make. The comic was an instant success, reinvigorating Lee and convincing him to stay on at Marvel. He even went on to give his favorite hero, Spider-Man, a love interest based off his wife: Gwen Stacy. In later years, after the couple’s two children were grown-up, Joan would have a short career as a voice actress, voicing the recurring character of Madame Web in the Spider-Man animated series, as well as having small parts in the Iron Man and Fantastic Four series. In 2016 she had a cameo with her husband in X-Men: Apocalypse. 

The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, the X-Men, the Avengers, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Doctor Strange, Black Panther. While these heroes were created or co-created by Stan Lee, we may never have had them or the Marvel Universe without Joan. Thank you.
