Season 8 was just as bad as I expected it to be.

The fact that the backstory itself had to be retconned just to fit this season was fucking stupid. Whatever happened to the Overlord? What happened to Garmadon genuinely being a good person before being forced into being evil? Now we have this shitty plot with the Dragon and the Oni and Garmadon was LITERALLY BORN EVIL NOW. SERIOUSLY, WHAT THE FUCK

What was the point of having a monarchy in place if it was destroyed in the second episode, and the princess winds up being evil? It’s a pointless addition to the world as a whole and having it passed off as “they have no real power anyway” is lazy as hell.

For that matter, Harumi is a shitty villain. Her backstory is supposed to make us feel sorry for her because her parents are dead, except for one little detail: SHE ALLOWED HER ADOPTIVE PARENTS TO DIE. She’s not sympathetic, she’s a whiny little brat who doesn’t realize how good she had it. Also, her design looks fucking hideous, as if she’s trying to be a gothic Lady Gaga. There are SO MANY WAYS for her to have been written better, and THIS IS WHAT THEY WENT WITH?

EVERYTHING ABOUT GARMADON’S RESURRECTION PISSES ME OFF. I don’t care that it got hand-waved as “Well he was specifically brought back to be full of hate”, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WOULD HE TELL HIS SON HOW LITTLE HE CARES ABOUT HIM. EVER.

I know that this point is controversial, but I’m going to say it anyway: Why the fuck is everyone ignoring that this season is written worse than they think. WHY THE HELL ARE PEOPLE LOOKING PAST THIS.

The animation is still garbage, I can’t see anyone’s face when the scene is dark. It’s like they took the worse parts of the animation before, and made it so it was all you could notice.

The writers are disrespectful as fuck, as well as inconsistent with what they want. One minute it’s “we’re making the show darker to appeal to the older audience”, the next it’s “ummm we write for kids, so it’s okay to have this many plot holes”. Not to mention telling people who don’t like the new designs to just “get over it, they’re not going to change back” really just shows how little you care about your audience’s opinions.

For that matter, I’m still not over how blatantly copy-pasted the designs are from the movie. I liked the movie designs because that’s what I thought they were just going to be: JUST THE MOVIE DESIGNS. The Hagemans said the show designs wouldn’t change. They lied. They said the face designs wouldn’t change. THEY LIED. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF HAVING MOVIE DESIGNS IF YOU WERE GOING TO CHANGE THE SHOW DESIGNS IN THE END??????

In conclusion, fuck this season, fuck the rest of this show, I’M DONE.
