Half rant because I'm tired of people interpreting that one scene as confirming Mephone as a child-- because I think you are missing the disgusting mockery that is Cobs character in that scene.

I think an interesting part of Cob's character is how he infaltilizes Mephone. Mephone has created something absolutely phenomenal, real intelligent life! Something even Cobs admits is impressive, but he refers and treats Mephone like a child given a power he does not know how to use. It's a reflection of how Mephone is just a tool to him. HE'S the creator. Mephone the conduit.

And now with this new scene?? The way he literally gets down on his knee to talk down to him? He's stolen away all that Mephone ever held dear, years of experience gone-- and Cob's has to gall to treat Mephone like this wayward child. Forgiven for his outburst. As if it's Mephone's fault any of this happened.

It's so horrible! So well written!!! I love Cob's as a villian. Agh it's just so good. But the fandom has to read everything in such a superficial way that it goes over their head and all they hear is Mephone is a child.

He's not a child. That's the point of this all. Cob's just refuses to see him for who he is. Cob's a character obsessed with life, robots who can feel and cry but will never see you as anything more real than that. You'll never be anything more. That's all Mephone is to him. A child. A tool. He'll never see Mephone for who he is.

whenever you ask people why they think mephone4 is canonically a child you'll always get two responses:

a: they believe cobs' words despite the fact that he is an known abuser and is not afraid to dehumanize others. cobs infantilizing mephone4 is essentially cobs putting the blame on mephone4 for all the pain he caused to the guy. believing that cobs is saying the truth when it comes to mephone4's age is quite literally missing the point about how terrible is Cobs and putting aside the fact that he has broken mephone4. infantilization is a very common thing abusers do. Genuinely why are you guys believing an abuser who is as well a war criminal that stole literal baby eggs

b: they put the blame on mephone4's lack of skills/knowledge on certain areas. WHEN THAT LACK OF KNOWLEDGE WAS CAUSED BECAUSE OF COBS' ABUSE.
