SVSSS fafics are my greatest guilty pleasures I SWEAR, because where else could you find such golden exchanges as this

“I had to churn out four thousand words a day!” Shang Qinghua exclaimed. “If I didn’t write, I didn’t eat!”

“That doesn’t mean you had to cater to every pervert who tipped you!”

“Actually, it does! Perverts are the backbone of the economy!”

(ps:. read: Chapter 742: Unleash the Holy Globes of Justice!! by Margo_Kim It's absolutely amazing. funniest fic you'll find out there)

The crackfic potential of this book is off the charts, actually. AND it's an absolute gold mine for angst as well. What else can one want?? (the most convenient set ups for semi-canon sex pollen shenanigans lol)

It's a pity this is such an underrated mxtx book, but also luckily the newfound puritanism in general fandom culture isn't as prevalent here as in some other super huge fandoms. A win for relatively smaller and more unhinged fandoms ig, gg.

SQQ holding his newborn baby to his chest, thinking about getting rid of him. He was only a burden and he didn't need that weight on his shoulders. It would have been better also for the baby... maybe someone would have found him in the woods, someone would have taken care of him, and it would have been a better parent than him. He didn't have the time to take care of that creature.

SQQ left his baby hiding him in the bushes so it wouldn't be dangerous for him. He worried that his cries could get the attention of wild beasts and monsters. But he took his decision and couldn't take back his word. He couldn't take care of a baby, what kind of life could he guarantee to a helpless child?

His heart was pending loudly in his chest, SQQ felt a pain new to him, like if parting from that child was so hard for him. He was a newborn, he wasn't interested in him at all. Yes, that's what he tried to tell himself.

So SQQ abandoned the baby, crying and screaming. His heart was broken but, he never knew he had some kind of... motherly instincts? He didn't know, but that baby's cries were ripping him from the inside. But it was the best choice.

SQQ tried to forget that baby, he didn't wanted to remember the pain of abandoning him. Maybe he was passed and never survived the day he left him. It was sad, but he couldn't change things. His son was gone long time ago.

Or that's what SQQ thought.

The baby was dead.

The same baby he met again one day, on the demons side, looking at him like he was just a filthy, unworthy human. A nobody not even worthy of his attention.

He was his father. And that wonderful, beautiful boy was his A-Yuan. The baby he left without any regret after giving him his name.

The same baby that maybe... only maybe... he missed a little bit too much.

Cultural Anatomy: Sokka’s Choker

From what I’ve researched, chokers were traditionally worn by some Native American tribes rather than by the Inuit, who traditionally preferred looser fitting necklaces. But Sokka’s particular choker is identical to traditional Alaskan Inuit bracelets, which are made from walrus or whale ivory.

Cultural Anatomy: Sokka’s Choker

Which means that Sokka might just be wearing a bracelet as a choker. And I can’t think of anything more perfectly Sokka than using an item for something beyond its intended purpose. I can totally imagine how the whole thing started:

Mother Kya: “One day, when Katara gets married, I’ll give her this necklace that Gran-Gran gave to me.”

Lil Sokka: “No fair! Why don’t I get anything?”

Hakoda: “Sokka, this necklace is for girls only.”

Lil Sokka: “Fine, I’ll just make my own necklace.” *ties his bracelet around his neck and immediately starts choking*

Gran-Gran: *sighs* I’ll get more string…
