actually, the phrase was originally “Easy as eating a piece of pie,” but english-speaking people are so lazy they would rather have the phrase make no sense then say four extra words. 

When someone says “easy as pie” they probably haven’t ever actually tried to make one before, because it’s really not all that easy.
