This is something close to my heart as a hermit crab mama! As beach & vacation season kicks off, gift shops will sell hermit crabs & tell you they can live in a tiny cage with a sponge. It is not true. I made this video in hopes to try to educate. You can often find large tanks on Marketplace or Craigslist for sale at a much cheaper price than a pet shop. Rubbermaid dishes can be used for water dishes. Needlepoint canvas can be used as ladders. There are a lot of DIY tips & crab central station is an excellent online resource for learning proper care. If you bring several home & one or two doesn’t survive, it is because they go through so much stress before they reach us. The pet trade can be ugly & brutal sometimes. We don’t want to add to that.
