The United States is not uniquely capable of destroying the world via environmental disasters, no matter who gets elected.
There are so many other countries and regions doing so much good. And the US has already set a lot of good things in motion, especially at the state and local levels.
I think a lot of people get their perspective skewed by the idea of American exceptionalism, honestly.
Because thinking that we're guaranteed a climate apocalypse just because of the fuckers that won the US election is also a kind of American exceptionalism - just one where the US is uniquely evil instead of uniquely good
Australia has committed to elevating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge as one of five national priorities in science and research. This comes as part of the National Science Statement released on Monday by the Minister for Industry and Science, Ed Husic. The statement signals the national priorities that will shape investment and policy across research and development over the next decade. Australian research already punches above its weight. The statement notes we produce 3.4% of the world's research with just 0.33% of the world's population. So how can we accelerate our impact? Indigenous knowledge systems are a national strength. The history of science on this continent is extraordinary, yet we often fail to recognize the sophisticated knowledges held by our First Nations peoples. Indigenous voices must be at the table. The first peoples, the first scientists Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples were the first astronomers, physicists, biologists and pharmacists on this continent. From as far back as 65,000 years, Indigenous people have been integrating knowledge systems with and for people and Country. There are many examples of Indigenous knowledge contributing to contemporary problems. Traditional Aboriginal burning takes into account local weather conditions, plants, environments and animals. It shows how plants react to fire, how to reduce the risk of major fire events, and support regeneration and biodiversity. Indigenous-led approaches to urban water are pointing towards more sustainable water management practices that also regenerate ecological and cultural environments.

"Is it a safe space to say i hate-" NOT IN THE MAINTAGS IT ISNT
This is an old article from 2012 but its research and topic is more applicable than ever today.
My favorite bit:
"Nonetheless, there is reason to believe that strict right-wing ideology might appeal to those who have trouble grasping the complexity of the world."
Another article had this advice from the researchers:
"The authors of the new study concluded that lower intelligence levels seemed to be an important precursor to more prejudiced views and suggest strategies involving increased participation in education of young people and improving the levels of cognitive ability in the population in general could be an important step towards eradicating prejudice towards same-sex couples."
In other words, anyone can learn tolerance.
Conservatives are out there scared by a world that's literally too big for them to understand. That's why they drag the walls in close and make rules that shut out complicated issues. But no one should live in fear. No one. Education is so important for every single one of us on this planet, because we do fear what we don't understand.
All the more insidious when someone finds these folks and scares them further, weaponizing their fear into political pressure. They're not helping anyone, they're making things worse. How do we undo generations of institutionalized fearmongering?
One person at a time.
Be kind, but carry heavy leather gloves too. Even the glorious bald eagle doesn't know you're trying to help it untangle itself.
