Was It A Sign?

Was It A Sign?

Well, maybe. Maybe not. Here are some little things that may help you figure out if it was really a grand message or not! The more of these you have, the more likely it is.

🩉It’s unusual. Let’s say you saw a deer. Sweet! That’s cool, but if you live in a wooded area and deer are really common, it’s really not that profound. It could be a message, or it could just be a deer.

🩉You asked for a sign. If you asked the universe or a certain deity for a sign, perhaps this is the follow through! For this type of thing, it’s usually good to ask for something specific enough that you couldn’t expect it every day, but not so much that it’s impossible. (My go to is a rose or a purple feather.) That way, you know that X thing is your sign without worrying too hard about it!

🩉It felt
different. Maybe the event isn’t terribly wild on its own, but it just really hit you, or the feeling was incredibly profound. Especially after doing research, and seeing how many things are symbols, your brain will make connections really quickly. That means sometimes we make something out of nothing. A strong emotional response is a good sign of a sign.

🩉It immediately felt like a sign. Let’s say you see a rainbow, and it’s really pretty. You enjoy it for a few minutes then go back inside. Later, you think, “Hm, that could have been a sign.” Maybe. But it also could be your brain going hey, I know things associated with rainbows! (In my opinion, this is the most important one. I feel like if you have to wonder if it was a sign, it wasn’t a sign. You might not know what it’s a sign of, but you will know it’s a sign. That’s just my UPG, though.)

🩉Any post-research lines up. If you get a neat vision and run the details through Google, you may find details that line up with certain lore. Maybe you knew this before, maybe not. If you didn’t, and connections keep happening with surprising accuracy, it’s a pretty good indicator!

🩉Think of why you want it to be a sign, if you do. There’s a big narrative that everybody involved in magic, Paganism, etc. is constantly having these profound religious experiences. This simply isn’t true. There’s no shame in wanting a story to share, or to feel special, or to “fit in” by getting signs from the universe. Sometimes we want signs for the sake of receiving signs, so if you’re trying to manufacture them by pulling on every little thing, you’re distracting yourself from enjoying the world exactly how it is. Don’t worry about signs and enjoy yourself. Animals and rainbows and all that are still pretty great even if every little thing doesn’t have a personal meaning.

How to cleanse your room of bad energy

- Open the window and let fresh air and sunlight flow through the room. Also keep the door open if you can.

- Since your bed is a huge part of the bedroom, strip your bedding and throw it in the wash.

- Quickly tidy up any clutter. This doesn’t need to be a huge job. Just tackle the main things like dirty laundry and dirty dishes.

- Light an incense and walk around the room with it. Hold the incense for a while in each corner, behind furniture, and around any new items you have brought into your room that need to be cleansed.

- Fill a spray bottle with water, salt, and your favourite essential oil (I recommend lavender for the bedroom) and spray it around your room in any spots you still feel negative energy.

- An alternative to spraying salt water is you can sprinkle salt around your room and then vacuum it up.

- Still feel negative energy? Walk around your room and clap! This works wonders.

- Once your bedding is clean and dry, make your bed with it.

You’re done! You will probably feel a lot better. You don’t have to do all of these things at once. If you don’t have much time or energy but need to cleanse, just try doing one of these things.

Magickal Household Plant Master Post

Since I’m on a plant kick today because I’ve decided to give my green thumb a try, I’m creating this master post relating to household plants. This is especially useful for witches like myself who don’t know the first thing about taking care of a plant inside the house besides watering and letting the darn thing get some sun! So, here we go:

Common TOXIC (as in you may not want to get these if you have kids or pets) household plants and their properties: *Aloe (toxic to pets, not toxic to humans) - wards against evil, protection from intruders and household accidents, brings good luck (also great for burns and good for your skin)

*Lillies, as well as the Peace Lily - love, comfort, harmony

*Ivy - protection, drive away negativity, promote fidelity and fertility

*Poinsetta - purity, celebration of winter holidays

*Snake plant (aka Mother-in-law’s Tongue) - long life, prosperity, beauty, health, strength, intelligence

*Dumb cane - for keeping secrets and starting gossip (not recommended for a magickal household)

*Arrowhead plant/vine - brings luck

*Myrtle - love, fertility, youth, peace, money

*Mistletoe - protection, love, hunting, fertility, health, exorcism

*Amaryllis - hidden or platonic love, friendship, retirement

*Gardenias - love, peace, healing, spirituality, psychic awareness

*Fig (aka weeping fig, fig tree, ficus, ficus tree) - divination, fertility, love, prosperity, guards against poverty and hunger if placed in kitchen, aids in restful sleep if placed in bedroom

Common NON-TOXIC household plants and their properties:

*African Violet - love, protection, promotes peace and spirituality

*Lavendar (can be toxic If your pets ingest a lot of it) - love, friendship, calm, protection

*Spider plant - protection, healing, absorb negativity while improving the energy and air quality of your home

*Bamboo -  protection, luck, hex-breaking, wishes, protection, helps with depression

*Orchid - love, power, charisma

*Ferns (some ARE toxic, however the Boston Fern is not) - protection, luck, can aid in summoning rain

*Ti plant (can be toxic If your pets ingest a lot of it) - good luck, can be used to attract money if you place a coin under it

*Succulents (hens and chicks, burro/donkey tail, etc.) - love, abundance

*Palms - spirituality, good vibes, protection from unwanted spirits, ghosts, astral entities

*Cacti (non-toxic, yet can still be painful for kids and pets if they touch the spines) - protection, strengthens will, increases sexual stamina if juices are added to a love potion, guards against intruders if a cactus is placed in the North, East, South and Western points of your home

*Jasmine - love, money, prophetic dreams, seduction

*Other plants and veggies that can be grown indoors

***I’ve recieved a lot of feedback on this post stating that most of the NON-TOXIC plants I have listed are in fact toxic. I’ve made a few notes and changes, but let me just add that many plants can be toxic to animals if they eat a bunch of it. Vomiting, diarrhea, and depression are side effects that your pet may exhibit if they’ve eaten too much of a plant that can be considered non-toxic or mildly toxic. It’s always best to seek medical attention for your pet if they show these sympstoms, just in case. Otherwise, try to keep your plants out of reach of your pets, please!

Use your best judgement on which plants are best for your household. I’m not an expert, these are just some of the things I have gathered through research. If you’re afraid your pets are gonna eat your plants and get sick, then maybe you should get a different plant that is edible or otherwise in no way a danger to the animal.

You can refer to the ASPCA’s website on toxic and non-toxic plants if you’re unsure, but please keep in mind they do not mention the severity of the toxicity of the plants they list, so you can do a simple google search to find out for yourself, but AGAIN please do not replace any information you find on the internet to actual medical care! Consult with your veterinarian if your pet it sick!

Plant Spells:

*Magickal Soil Spell

*Spell to Speed the Growth of Your Plant

*Plant Growth Spell

*Plant Enchantment

Plant Sigils:

*”Pests will avoid my plants” by @sigilcrafter

*”These plants are free of pests” by @sigilathenaeum

*”My plants will survive and thrive” by @sigilathenaeum

Crystals Good for Plants:

*Moss Agate (aka the Gardener’s Stone) - prosperity, vitality, helps plants thrive and will assist plant growth, wearing moss agate while planting/gardening will increase your green thumb and give you energy, assosciated with nature spirits

*Green Jasper - aids in luxurious growth of your plants

*Green Calcite - healing, can be used to soothe when the environment is too loud, associated with Earth spirits of woods and meadows

*Clear Quartz - aids in growth and vitality, grounding, can also be placed in a vase of freshly cut flowers to help them last longer

*Rose Quartz - especially beneficial for roses as it maintains their bloom longer

*Smokey Quartz - keeps pests away

*Tourmaline - healing

*Amethyst - calms plants that are stressed

*Jet - can be worn to make plants flourish

*Green Fluorite - healing, especially good to use for a plant that has been injured or broken in some way

*Moonstone - fertility, encourages healthy plants and flowers, promotes a soothing, restful area

What to do if witchcraft suddenly gets way too intense

1. FINISH WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

â–ș DO NOT walk away from an uncompleted ritual

â–ș DO NOT walk away in the middle of a spell

Grab your notes and close everything down. Dismiss any spirits or entities you are working with. Close down the circle. End the ritual. Diffuse the energy of the spell and close it down. If you were enchanting an item, announce over it that it is closed and nothing more may come in or out.

Spells and rituals are little portals of power; if you leave one open without closing it, all sorts of things could get screwy and come through.

2. End any spooky/witchy atmosphere immediately.

Blow out all the candles.

Put out all the incense.

Turn on all the lights.

Turn off spooky chanting music. Turn on some happy music or better yet, a non-supernatural television show or movie you love.

If you were enchanting an item, immediately put it in salt.

3. Don’t destroy the items/notes you will need later.

Trust me, do not throw away the spell you wrote or the objects you were working on. If things go wrong in the future you will need these to fix the problem.

â–ș Immediately write down exactly what happened. Write down every deviation from the spell that you did. Write down exactly what you said and saw during any visualizations. Write down exactly when things started to get freaky.

â–ș If you were enchanting an item, keep it in a black bag filled with salt until you are ready to deal with it.

4. Cleanse.

Use an energy cannonball to purify the space you were working in. Burn rosemary and bay leaves to fumigate the area, or spritz a premade water solution if you can’t have smoke. Pay special attention to all ritual tools.

If you feel the need to, cleanse yourself by visualizing the power of the smoke enveloping you and driving away any bad vibes; or take a shower if you really feel something has gone wrong.

5. Get out of the area you were working in.

Go to another room. Leave the house if possible. Seek the company of others or turn on the television if you are alone.

6. Do mundane things for a while.

Eat a nice meal. Drink a big glass of water. Go for a jog. Do some chores. Put anything magical totally out of your head. Absolutely do not focus on how weird things just got.

7. When you are ready, return to the area you were working in.

Relax yourself and judge the energies within the room. Are things still ‘creepy’? A heavy-duty cleansing is in order. Do you feel as if someone else is there? Open a window and command it to leave - if it does not, more fumigation or a banishing is required.

Judge your ritual tools and determine if they will need additional cleansing. If you were working on an object, determine if it has been corrupted or if anything is wrong with it. If so, put it back in the salt and deal with it as soon as you can.

8. Take a break from witchcraft for a couple of days.

9. Figure out what went wrong.

Fear is never a good thing. There is a difference between embracing the darkness and being afraid.

â–ș Fear can be caused if an entity showed up you were unprepared to deal with.

â–ș Fear can be caused if your intuition (or perhaps a spirit ally) was warning you that what you were about to do was a really bad idea.

â–ș Fear can be caused if you tap in to powers that overwhelm you.

You need to figure out what went wrong. It isn’t a situation where you can say “oh well” and try something else later - because you screwed up, and next time you may not get an adequate warning before things go to hell.

Un-funk Yourself Charm

image

You’re in a rut. For some reason nothing has been going your way and you know your life needs a swift kick in the butt to get it back in gear. Try this powerful and energizing charm!

Materials:

Rose buds - for self-love and positive relationships with others

Sunstone - helps empower those who feel persecuted or abandoned by others, instilling confidence and optimism and encouraging motivation and positive action.  Sunstone is also useful in removing energy-draining ties to you or “hooks” into your energy by other people.

Lemon rind - a lemon zinger to pump this charm full of enough energy to send your funk out the window

Lavender - this allows you to be gentle on yourself. It’s not you’re fault you’re in this funk. Lavender provides a great gentle energy.

Myrrh Incense (loose) - purifies the area and lifts your vibration to pull you out of whatever vibration you’re currently stuck in

White drawstring bag - this color will help you see the truth, shows you the ‘light’

Steps:

Center and ground yourself. Cleanse and gather all materials. This work should be done at your altar preferably.

Light Myrrh incense. Take a second to let the smoke flow over you.

Combine all ingredients into the white drawstring bag.

Tie up the bag with 3 knots. With each knot focus on what needs to improve. Something is holding you back right now and the sooner you pinpoint it, the sooner you can conquer it.

Carry this charm with you for as long as you feel like you need it.

My Witchy IOS Apps.
My Witchy IOS Apps.

My witchy iOS apps.

Wow! I’ve never gotten more than MAYBE 15 notes in my many years on tumblr. Thanks, witch fam!

UPDATED*** Here are some app links for @valicorne and others who requested. They should all be free. Some of these are also in the Android Marketplace, and for those that aren’t, there are comparable ones.

And my mom has a baller sigil making app on Android I envy: Sigil Automatron. Anyone know of a comparable one for iOS? (I don’t want just a paint or photoshop-like app, but one specific To making sigils)

Not all the full names show in the screenshotted app view, which is why some of you struggled to find them. Sorry!):

1. Tarot Card Memorizer: Pretty self explantaory. This is a nice reference when you’re trying to learn card meanings.

2. Pendulum Charts Free - a plethora of charts. I like using that on my iPad, not super useful on a smaller screen, aka my iPhone. Can also use to reference for making your own charts on paper, or woodburning like I’m working on.

3. Golden Thread Tarot - Really nice free eversion of great physical deck. Nice for witches on the go, or witches on a budget.

4. Crystals And Gems - Handy reference guide for both physical and metaphysical attributes.

5. Mighty Timer - temperature, time, and amount of tea you need for the perfect cup. Great kitchen witch app, especially if you grow some of your own herbs for tea, like I do.

6. TimePassages - Free daily horoscopes, meanings, planetary bodies glossary and then some paid options for chart downloads.

7. Herbs Guide - Herbs for health and cooking. ***never take any information found on the Internet or via apps as medical advice. Seek professional medical help if you have an issues. This witch is very pro-science and modern medicine, despite making teas, tinctures, and herbal salves. Those are merely supplements to help relieve symptoms.

8. Dreamboard - my favorite digital dream journal

9. Runes - pocket advisor - Get one, two and three rune readings. Also helps you learn the meanings of elder futhark runes. 10. SkyView Free -This overlays constellations and other astronomical information when you open the app and point it at the night sky. Uses your camera and GPS to know what it’s looking at. Works inside, too. I impress the heck out of people when I whip this out at stargazing events.

11. Best Essential Oils and Aromatherapy Guide Pro - This app, containing six broad sections - guides, application, single oil, oil blends, aromatherapy and weight loss. Again, this is not to be used in place of proper nutrition and medical attention, and be very careful when using essential oils. All need to be diluted with carrier oils, and some are dangerous if you’re pregnant, etc.

12. Spellcaster - tarot cards, horoscope and pre-written spells. Not my favorite, but fun to flip through.

13. Celeste -LOOOVE. Celeste allows you to calculate a natal chart, which you can view on a zodiac wheel. You also get a description of all the planets in signs, not just the sun sign.

14. Star Chart - This is similar to skyview. I haven’t played with it too much so I can’t vouch for it quite yet. I think I prefer the skyview interface.

15. Free Candle - Different candle options, and you cna blow them out. Great for on the go candle magick/meditation, and for those who aren’t allowed to use candles in apartments/dorms/etc.

16. The Pocket Pagan - “This unique Pagan app includes a map of the USA and Canada filled with Pagan, occult and New Age stores, a handy correspondence guide for quick magickal look-ups, and a calendar that shows you the next full moon and Sabbat dates. Quick links can help you find the latest news, blogs and videos too. One little widget shows the real-time moon phase too.”

17. Moon - current moon phase - Love this. Very simple interface for when you JUST want basic full, new, waxing, waning moon info.

18. Herbs in Magick - The application contains information about more than 200 herbs and their magickal use. No internet connection
