What Those Signs Mean:

Rising: Your rising sign, in short, is you're actual Zodiac. It is based off of time zones in which the day you are born. The names for them are Aries, Capricorn, Gemini, Taurus, Sagittarius, Scorpio, Aquarius, Virgo, Pisces, and Cancer. Your Rising sign might be found easily on first impressions you might give.

Sun: This is who you are in personality, your normal self. This is how you may act if alone, and is your inner traits. How you act can be described with this sign, also as to who you are.

Moon: You may call the moon sign you have your emotions. It influences your decisions. It is how you feel on the inside, whether everyone knows this or just you. It holds your loves and fears, hates and excitements. Anything, really.

Mercury: is how you may be like in time of communication, reasoning, intellect and awareness. It's known for it's power of the brain.

Venus: The sign of Venus is based upon the time you were born and can be called something of Love.

Mars: is in charge of attraction and raw energy for that matter.

Jupiter: The planet of Jupiter is responsible for luck and good fortune. Whether the optimization is for humor or good will, it's going to be a major apart of you no matter what. It's the happy part in your life. You need it there.

Saturn: This sign, Saturn, is here for the parts in life with things like restriction and limitations. Found as you get older, this is known for being you as you grow up.

Uranus: is here for the change in life. The sign can be for the worse or better at times, and it's a part of life you'll eventually come across. Take it, hit or miss, and in the end it might make you better than it seemed.

Neptune: can be called dreamy, for this matter. The sign for this works as great influence, fantasy, and imagination seen in your daily life, so to say. With this, you might find it almost as if a dream.

Pluto: Not the same change with Uranus, but Pluto is part of big change. It's more of transformation. Life challenges thrown your way will lead to this sign, Pluto.

I hope that helped! If you have any questions about your signs or how to find them, you can ask me @dxncingblxck or any other astrology blog basically. Have fun and happy astrology-ing!

Your Life Isn't Over Because You Have Misophonia (Surprise!)

I wanted to write a post about you specifically. Yes, you, not someone else, you. I want you to know that your life is not over because you have misophonia, and that you’re important to the world. You have a lot of options as a diagnosed misophonic! Here is sort of a mega-post of information to maybe help you to succeed in life and explore opportunities you may not have known existed :) I’ll also put some photos in between so that you might feel more inspired.

image

The Importance of Getting a Diagnosis & Your Legal Rights: First off, I think the first step you have to take in making your life easier if you’re still in school is getting a diagnosis from a certified doctor. I know that not every state or region has an audiologist that can diagnose you, but I certainly think that a trip to the nearest one, however long it would take, is completely worth it. Why? Because, as far as I am aware of, if you live in the United States, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland or Australia, you have anti-discriminatory rights as a disabled citizen. (I know there are laws in other countries, but we’d be here all night if I covered them all!) Here are government links that explain your civil rights in the U.S., the U.K., New Zealand, Ireland and in Australia. Also, I checked with Canada, and they don’t have a law yet, but they’re currently campaigning towards one!) Here are two lists of practitioners who treat misophonia: (Just the United States) and (The U.S. and several other countries). Some of the doctors on the second link might only treat tinnitus, so email them first or look them up! The doctor in London and the doctor in Victoria, Australia do treat misophonia for sure, so do not fret!

image

Your Legal Rights to Equal Education in These Same Countries: Because there are anti-discriminatory laws in the countries I named, you have an equal right to attain an education as any other non-disabled student. If you are officially diagnosed with misophonia from a certified doctor, these rights legally apply to you, as long as your doctor can explain in a letter exactly why misophonia is a disability for you. In the United States, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 basically says that federally funded schools cannot discriminate or deny a student the same access to education because of their disability, and it specifically covers neurological disorders - which misophonia actually is. Because of this law, I was able to get accommodations at the University of Colorado Denver to make my education attainable. (I am one of two students there with misophonia accommodations!) I am allowed a note-taker, I may leave or skip class without being counted absent (so long as my excuse is misophonia-related), my professors are not allowed to discriminate against me in class because of my disability, I get preferred seating, I can take tests and quizzes in a room by myself (yay!!!), and I am allowed an FM system (an auditory system consisting of earphones for me with a receiver and a microphone for my teacher, so I can’t hear other people!), which my professor is legally required to wear and help me with. I mean, how cool is that?! These are the sorts of accommodations you can ask for when you try to make your case! For a while I had been thinking about dropping out because going to class was so hard, but man, nothing is stopping me now! PhD., here I come!

Those of You Who Are Home-Bound: Even if you can’t stand being in a classroom for any reason, there are many options as far as online school go. Here are 50 online high schools and 542 online colleges and universities! Here are some online programs for those in the UK needing to complete sixth form. I personally know at least one girl with misophonia who is doing online school here in the U.S., and it seems to be working for her :)

image

Rights As An Employee: Disability laws also protect us in the work space! As far as Section 504 in the U.S. is concerned, an employer is required to accommodate a disabled employee within reasonable means. In the U.K., the Equality Act of 2010 says, that an employer has to make ‘reasonable adjustments’ to avoid you being put at a disadvantage compared to those in your work space who do not have disabilities. In Australia, their anti-discriminatory law says that it is against the law for an employer to act in a discriminatory way towards your disability. Ireland’s Disability Discrimination Act says it is illegal for employers to discriminate against people with disabilities for any reason related to their disability, in all aspects of employment, unless it can be justified. I didn’t quite understand New Zealand’s Disabled Persons Employment Promotion (Repeal and Related Matters) Bill, but you can visit this page for more information if it would be helpful to you!

Ideal Jobs: Basically, I’ve learned that if you have a job where you can control your environment or work alone, it is possible for you to work a job as a professional. Ideal jobs would be things like being a teacher, working from home, owning a business, being a doctor or a counselor, being an electrician, doing work in the field, working in a controlled office, ect. I currently work at my dad’s office, where I am mostly on my own. The secretary I work with knows about my condition and helps me out in any way I need! To be honest, I’m kind of scared to get a job working in customer service because my triggers are so bad, so I additionally raise cows, whom for the most part, don’t bother me yet. Plus, they pay for my textbooks!

Places to Find Online Support: These blogs: confessions-of-a-misophonic, adventures-in-misophonia, misophonia–sucks, misophonia-isnt-fun, living-with-miso, misophoniachicago, misophoniaadailyhell, and misophoniaandme!

These Facebook groups: “Misophonia Coping and Solutions”, “Misophonia: Selective Sound Sensitivity Syndrome (4S)”, and “Misophonia-Parents of children with misophonia”.

Websites:  Misophonia Online, the Misophonia Association, and Haunted by everyday noises.

image

Conclusions: I really stand by the fact that even while you have misophonia, you are still able to live and interact with the world, and you are also able to make a difference! The Internet, in this way, is a beautiful and wondrous tool that allows us to come together as a community, share ideas with one another, and encourage each other. I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have you all for support! I’d encourage you all to think of the talents you have been gifted with and maybe think of ways you can use them to further raise awareness and help other misophonics in our community. Like, if you’re going to be a misophoniac, be a damn good one, right? If you’re a musician, maybe write songs; or if you’re an artist, create ways for others to visualize what we have; if you’re confident, make videos, talk about what you have, and share them with the world; and if you’re not too bad at writing, speak out and communicate! I mean, that’s how this ridiculous blog got started. I just thought I’d share a few ideas and then it kind of bubbled over and came to life! It’s one of the best decisions I ever made.

You all have voices and are important to the world, make something of yourself that you can be proud of! You won’t regret it.

Witchcraft Authors to Avoid

So one of the most often thing I get asked is “why do you hate this author” so I decided to make a post about all the bad occult and witchcraft authors out there and why I dislike them.   Also remember folks, just because someone is published it does not mean they are intelligent, know a lot about the subject, or that it is a good book.  Kim Kardashian has entire book of selfies for fucks sake.

D.J. Conway - Her book on Norse magick don’t even mention seiðr, its just neo-pagan and neo-wiccan rites with norse deities names in it.  Conway is famous for her book on dragon magick, yet from what I can tell, she leaves out all the info of living traditions of dragons; people still worship dragons, dragons are still religious entities in parts of the world.  I could go on and on about how her books are full of blatant misinfo and ignore the actual traditions she claims to write about.  Besides the crap content of her books DJ Conway makes it very obvious that she has a deep hatred of men, she talks about trying out spells on shitty men, talks about her first marriage and how much of a “living hell” it was, and also how controlling her mother was.  Do you really want to read that in a book about witchcraft?

Silver Ravenwolf- Do I have to even say anything about Ravenwolf?  Like…do I really, y’all should know better by now

Raymond Buckland - I don’t even use his actual name when I refer to him.  Cuckland created the Seax-Wica tradition because when his wife wanted a divorce he got upset and asked Gardner to kick her out of the Gardnian tradition, and when Gardner didn’t Cuckland got butt hurt and left.  Cuckland makes claims that have absolutely no historical evidence and presents them as facts.  Cuckland also spilled initiatory secrets of Wicca after he got butt hurt and left, uses the g-slur against the Romani people, is a very avid curse shamer.

Douglas Monroe:  His books are FILLED with historical inaccuracies, for example he claims that druids are from Atlantis, mixes up deities very frequently.  He claimed a pumpkin is a sacred tree (IT IS NOT).  He has no botanical knowledge, yet tries to write about it, for example he has a mistletoe tincture, mistletoe is poisonous and he does not specify which type of mistletoe to use.  To top it all of he is also misogynist.

Scott Cunningham - Many people love Cunningham, I already got hate in my ask box last time I bashed Cunningham.  Cunningham presents a lot of outdated information such as incorrect correspondences for herbs and crystals, but he is dead, so he can not help that.  But, Cunningham’s work also contributed substantially to the dilution and degradation of Craft tradition (both Wiccan and other) which lead to many problems in traditional initiatory practices of Wicca.  There are also historical inaccuracy in his works, mostly because he is dead and now outdated. More (X)

Judika Illes - Has a whole shit ton Cultural appropriation in their books, particular towards hoodoo and African Diasporic Traditions.  She is also an avid fan and support of Slither Rasinwood (silver raven wolf)

E.A. Koetting-  He knows how to get a reader’s attention but the information presented in his books is absolute bullshit.  He rips off Order of the Nine Angles.  He clearly cares more about money than the quality of his books and work, his motto is literally “Become a living God”.  Claims he is at war with Haitian Vodou Houngans on his YouTube channel.  He is commonly referred to as “the silver Ravenwolf of the Left-Hand Path community”

Dante (Andrew Pike)- Calls himself a necromancer but is mainly a showman.  Dances around graveyards next to Halloween props.  A lot of historical misinformation, he also presents historically inaccurate practices.

E. A. Wallis Budge- good jumping off point for Kemetism but he is outdated with a lot of his translations and works, so it is now historically inaccurate.

Oberon Zell Ravenheart- If you are looking for a historically accurate practice, then do not read Ravenheart’s work.  He formed the “Church of All Worlds” which is based on Robert Heinlein’s science fiction novel Stranger in a Strange Land.  If you are into that pop-culture stuff then go ahead and look into that, but I thought it would important to know that before you jump into his work.  He also claims to have raised unicorns and swam with mermaids…so keep that in mind as well.

Catherine Yronwode - Literally one of the worst people.  Not only is she in charge of lucky mojo; (which any black rootworker will rant about as she is claims to be a “white rootworker” and has a “better then you” attitude toward any POC) she also who sells faulty spells and false ingredients, she is also a bully to LGBTQIA+ youth, and a rampant racist.   You an find more drama with her here (X and X)

So, you are probably wondering who the hell would publish these authors and the answer is Llewellyn worldwide.  Not all of these people are published by Llewellyn worldwide, but a majority of them are.  This is why I frequently tell people to avoid books published by Llewellyn worldwide

Bree Landwalker has a similar post, some of the authors included here on this list are also in their post.  You can find that post here

Misophonia or not?

It’s always been an odd feeling when I hear a sound and I’m just like, “that sounds gross,” but it’s an entirely different experience from a misophonic trigger reaction…and being afraid that it’ll eventually morph into a trigger sound :|
