get some water, leave it out under the moonlight, for as little as an hour to as long as all night, as long as it feels charged. bottle it before it touches direct sunlight, keep it in a shadowy place.Â
moon water is called for in a lot of spells, but it can also be used in potions, cleansing, bath spells, anything you might need the moonâs power for.
it can be done during any phase, but keep in mind, each phase will rend different properties. full moon water will have different magical properties than moon water made during the new moon or a quarter moon, or a waxing or waning moon. hereâs a quick guide on each phasesâ meanings
you can put herbs in it if you like, i would avoid putting crystals in it because that can damage them and make them dissolve and it could make the water toxic, etc. most edible herbs are fine though!
it does not need to be direct moonlight constantly, after itâs charged, if you donât need to recharge it unless you canât feel its energy anymore.
according to some witches it doesnât, but according to others being in the sun will make it sun water, or sun&moon water. ultimately this is up to you.
thankfully light bounces off stuff, including the moonâs! it might not be as possibly potent as you could make it, but in which case you could leave it out a little bit longer.Â
you can use whatever kind of magical water you want to make a combination of waters, snow-moon water, storm-moon water, etc. however, keep in mind it may give the moon water a bit of an extra magical quality.Â
if the light can shine through it, itâll work. you can make it with whatever kind of bottle you like as long as the light can touch the water in some ways.
You can carry this with you for whenever you need to have that âintimidating look,â ex.) walking down a dark street late at night.Â
What youâre gonna need:Â
A jar, particularly a smaller one
Storm waterÂ
A thunderstormÂ
Black glitter
Cayenne pepperÂ
Green food coloringÂ
A wine glass (for theatrical effect)Â
Collect the storm water in whatever container is convenient, then pour it into the wine glass. Add the cayenne pepper, food coloring, and black glitter. Hold the glass and visualize the image you wish to project. Go outside and recite the following while holding the glass:
âI cast this spell on this stormy night,Â
fill this glass with a ghoulâs fright!Â
May my appearance turn them all away,Â
keep those that wish to cause me ill at bay.Â
A thunderbolt, to mix it well. Now begin thy magic spell!âÂ
Produce your best evil, witchy cackle, then pour the mixture into the jar. Just pull it out & shake whenever you need to feel intimidating.Â

Every so often, use some moon water to wash your face.
Avoid using essential oils directly on your face, they can clog your pores.
Apply body wash or soap to your skin in clockwise circles to open your body up to positivity.
Enchant your moisturizers, acne creams, and cleansers for an added boost.
Draw sigils in your face cream.
Try adding herbs and herb-based products into your routine. Witch Hazel is very popular for treating skin related issues.
If you use pore-cleaning masks, use them to pull the negative energies from your skin.
Use your ring finger to massage products into your skin to ground yourself.
Brew Black tea and then refrigerate it until itâs cool. Then apply it as you would astringent.
Use coconut oil to easily remove makeup. Cleanse and wash after.
Rub a sliced orange on elbows and heels to soften rough and cracked skin. Rinse when finished.
Massaging your face is a wonderful way to ground yourself or begin meditation.
eating pastries is so humiliating cause you'll be having the time of your life having it and then when you're finished you look down and you're covered in flakes and sugardust like fuuuck now everyone is going to know i'm a messy pastry whore
Let me start by saying CLEANSING CLEANSING CLEANSING. Itâs the most basic, first thing you learn, exciting and boring part of witchcraft.
Negative energy is a scientific fact based on positive and negative charged ions that make up everything.
Clearing out negative energy and replacing it with positive energy is not something you should only do during spring cleaning. Cleanse after a very stressful or negative experience like a fight or finals. Cleanse if youâre feeling lethargic or upset. Cleansing may not fix everything but it definitely doesnât hurt.
The best way Iâve found to cleanse it a salt water, sage, pine mix. Itâs in a spray bottle and I just spray it around the room. It works best if youâve cleaned up any clutter that may be lying about. It also helps to declutter your mind. For me that can be hard between my anxiety and depression so it really helps to sit down and work things out in my head.
Another basic is protection and casting circles. When you perform spells or rituals you open yourself up to outside interference. Itâs like how your laptop limited to whatâs on it by itself. When it connects to the internet it becomes part of all these other devices that are connected and its no longer limited. Without a firewall your computer can get a virus. So casting a circle is like activating a firewall.
You can create a mental circle but it can be hard to keep up if youâre performing an energy costing spell or ritual. Salt is your best friend!
Creating circles and walls from outside energy is essential for most empaths to function some days. It all depends on who you come in contact with. Even if you donât spend much time with a person you can still pick up on their emotional energy. If you do get interference cleansing can help clean out other peopleâs emotions.
A lot of witchcraft is visualizing and focusing your will and releasing energy from things like crystals or herbs. Meditation and mental exercises will help you in whatever spells or rituals you want to do.
My last basic isnât witchcraft but itâs essential for doing spells or rituals. Take care of yourself. If you are too tired and donât have the energy, for whatever reason, to focus or use energy in a spell, itâs not going to work. So drink water, exercise, sleep, relax. Do what you can to take care of you. Self care isnât always easy but itâs important in everything you do. Iâm a big advocate of those occasional and unavoidable mental health days. Mental sickness will cause your body to become sick.
a divination or fortune-telling method that interprets patterns in tea leaves, coffee grounds, or wine sediments.
The terms derive from the French word tasse (cup), which in turn derives from the cognate Arabic word tassa, and the Greek suffixes -graph (writing), -logy (study of), and -mancy (divination).
Divination attempts to gain insight into the natural world through intuitive interpretation of synchronistic events.
"immortality sucks because all your friends die" all your friends die anyway. those we do not mourn are those who mourn us.
"immortality sucks because you forget who you are" we always forget who we are. do you remember who you were at four years of age? who you were at fourteen? "who i am" is a shadow cast on the wall.
"immortality sucks because" skill issue. skill issue. skill issue. give me your liver
âWeâve been waiting for you, Steven.â
You set your intention. You had all the correct correspondences. You even timed your spell with the appropriate moon phase. And yet â no results. What gives?Â
Failed spells happen to the best of us, and for a variety of reasons. But a spell gone wrong doesnât necessarily mean that magic isnât real or that youâre bad at witchcraft. Magic is complicated, and there are a lot of reasons it might not behave the way you want it to. Here are some of the most common causes of ineffective spells:Â
Magic is meant to be used as a tool to supplement your mundane efforts â not as a substitute for them. How can you expect your job hunting spell to bring in results if you arenât applying for jobs?Â
Magic does not exist in a vacuum, and it canât make something out of nothing. If a spell doesnât bring you the desired result, make sure that your non-magical actions are aligned with what you are trying to manifest.Â
Wait, what? Isnât magic supposed to be, well⌠magic? Shouldnât you be able to ask for whatever you want and get it? Yes and no.
Magic is simply a way of directing energy. Magic canât defy the natural laws of the universe. It canât make something happen unless it was already a potential possibility.
If your intention is unrealistic for where you are right now, try splitting it up into a multi-step process. No spell is going to make you a billionaire overnight, but magic could help you get hired at a better paying job⌠and then get promoted⌠and then get offered a profitable side gig⌠etc. Starting small and working your way up is always going to produce stronger results, because you laid the foundation first.
Whether you use written petitions or spoken incantations, clearly stating your intention is an important part (maybe THE most important part) of any spell or ritual. A good intention is specific enough to get you the results you want, but open enough to let those results manifest naturally.
Letâs say you do a money spell, and your intention for the spell is simply, âI have more money.â If you find a penny on the ground the next day and pick it up, technically that is more money than you had before. A better alternative would be to use an intention like, âI have enough money to buy ___,â or âI have enough money for everything I need and want.â
Using an intention that is too specific creates the opposite problem. Letâs say you want to manifest a scholarship to a specific school. You do a candle spell with the intention, âI have been chosen for the John Smith Scholarship at Jane Doe University.â But maybe the John Smith scholarship had already been awarded by the time you did your spell. Maybe thereâs another scholarship at the same school that would be a better fit for you, or maybe youâre eligible for a grant that would make tuition more affordable. A better intention for your spell would be âI have enough financial aid to easily and affordably attend Jane Doe University.â
Magic always follows the path of least resistance, so you want to make sure that your intention is specific enough to give your magic a clear direction, but open enough to allow it some flexibility.Â
We all know the struggle. Youâve been planning this ritual forever, and itâs finally the full moon, but youâve got a really full schedule today. If you hurry, you can probably squeeze it into the thirty minute window between school and work, right?Â
If you say a few quick words and burn some incense before you head out the door in the morning, that totally counts as a spell, right?Â
Not so much. Rushed, lazy, and/or half-assed spells rarely, if ever, work. Spells revolve around the raising and direction of energy, and that requires two things: a clear intention (see above) and intense focus on that intention. If you donât have the time/energy/mental capacity to focus, itâs best to take a break, have a self care day, and come back to your spell some other time.Â
I decided to lump these two together, because theyâre different variations of the same issue.Â
Whenever you are doing magic on yourself, itâs important that your mindset is aligned with your intentions. You can do love spells all day long, but if deep down you donât believe that youâre worthy of love, that belief is going to block your spells from working. This is why mindfulness, psychology, and self care are all such important parts of a successful witchcraft practice. Itâs also why I recommend doing the mental work before you sit down to ritual.Â
If you did a spell on yourself, or are trying to manifest something for yourself, and it just isnât working, I highly recommend setting some time aside for journaling and meditation and asking yourself 1.) if this is really what you want, and 2.) if you truly believe that you can have it.
The whole mindset thing gets even more tricky when youâre doing magic on behalf of another person, because their energy is also at work in the situation and could be at odds with yours. For example, if you do a spell to help a friend land a job, but that friend believes that theyâre totally underqualified and could never get it, they probably wonât get the job even if you did everything ârightâ in your spell.Â
This should go without saying, but it is extremely unethical to use magic to mess around in someone elseâs head. Even if you think you know whatâs best for them, they need to be open to it. If someone is blocking the spells you do on their behalf, all you can do is try to be supportive and find other ways to help them out.
If a spell goes wrong, it will almost always be for one of the above reasons. But maybe you did everything ârightâ â you did the mental work first, had a strong, realistic intention, put lots of focus into your spell, and followed through in real life â and you still arenât seeing results. There are a couple of other things that could be blocking your spells, but theyâre very uncommon so Iâm not going to talk about them in as much detail. These may be things you want to look into if you really, genuinely canât think of any other cause.Â
Itâs possible that another witch has done magic that cancels out or blocks yours. This is not common, and it does NOT mean that someone has cursed you. It could be as simple as two witches unknowingly casting spells with opposite intentions, which end up cancelling each other out. (For example, maybe two different people both cast a spell to get the same job. Obviously, they canât both get that job.) This is why itâs never a bad idea to incorporate a protective element into your spells to block outside interference.
There is a very, very remote possibility that someone has placed a curse on you specifically to block your magic. However â and I cannot stress this enough â this is VERY uncommon. If you were cursed you would know it, or at least know that something was very wrong in your life. If you feel like you have been cursed or hexed, I recommend looking into uncrossing spells, which are specifically designed to undo negative magic.
Itâs also possible that a higher power is intervening. This doesnât necessarily have to be a deity, although it certainly could be. Most witches believe in some form of fate or destiny, and itâs possible that your spell didnât work because what you asked for is not in alignment with your destiny. In these situations, really the only thing you can do is surrender to the bigger picture.Â
