With you taking on the responsibility of carrying a life around in your belly, Jeongin has not let you worry about anything. All the nights spent in pain, tears staining your cheeks as the kicks and aches got worse: Jeongin was there. He did everything he could to always be there.

He was a working man; you knew who he was beforehand. You never expected him to be as present as he was. He got you every late night craving, every baby supply you “just had to have”, every matching outfit that looked good in his eyes. He spoiled you just as much as before. Your closet not even big enough for all the previous gifts let alone new matching outfits.

It was nice to feel taken care of in times like this. Jeongin guaranteed he would be able to care for you and manage his career. He was becoming a leader and father. Now more than ever you were depending on him because you aren’t working.

You didn’t do much of anything besides nesting. It was late in your term, and you were busy getting the nursery ready and planning Jeongin’s birthday party. You didn’t expect to see a set of cupcakes in his hand as he returned from work one day.

“Innie did you get my message- what’s the cupcakes for?” You questioned, eyes sparkling and mouth watering. You had a giant sweet tooth now that you were pregnant.

“These are for you..” he hesitated as he put the cupcakes on the counter and checks his phone. You smile and take a picture of them. “Wow innie. What is the occasion?”

“It’s your birthday babe. How did you forget?” He chuckles lightly, rubbing your back gently. Is it..? It can’t be. You check the calendar and laugh. It really is your birthday.

“Wow babe. I guess with your birthday coming up and the babies due date coming up.. It slipped my mind.”

“Planning for my birthday and yours is coming up is wild. Did you want to blow out the candles on some cupcakes? I bought two candles that say 26” He says reaching out his bag.

Candles. Fire. To build something new you must be-rid of the old. Fire was one way to do it. Fire was powerful and strong. Just like you.

You nod quickly, “it’s tradition babe. We always blow out candles at my house. It’s the way to bring in the new age. It’s only right.”

He lights the candles and begins to sing happy birthday in his own joking matter. Holding your hands as he embraces you tightly, he didn’t care about anything else right now just you. The light of his life. His babies all here in his arms.

At the end of the song, you blow out the candles and he claps. “How do you feel my love? Do you feel any older?”

Honestly, you had felt like an adult long before now. There was no difference besides time. You had been managing life on your own with several ups and downs. One of the ups being Jeongin and your baby.

“Oh boy I felt older before now..” You signal to your feet and back. “I appreciate this so much babe. You know how to make a girl feel special.”

“I mean.. I got you to have my babies and marry me.” You both laughed before you playfully hit his arm. “Jeongin!”

You always knew Jeongin would be the man you wanted to have children with. Highschool lovers turned newly engaged college students to married soon to be parents. Wait.. babies?

“Babies, Jeongin?”

He gave a weak, nervous smile. “Surprise…!”
