another old man of my life
So imagine if Aizawa and Present Mic do manage to pull Oboro Shirakumo out of Kurogiri. Heās back, his memories, his personality, everything. Same old Oboro, the one they knew. But something isnāt right.
Because thereās still a part of him for whatever reason, a deeply ingrained part, that is fiercely, unshakably loyal to... Tomura Shigaraki.
Like, just imagine him saying, after all the effort, at some point... "Tomura Shigaraki must be protected. That is my goal."
And Aizawa and Mic tried to, like, get him out of it, they really did, but no matter how much they tried to talk him out of it, no matter how much they try to reason with him, his brain just... shuts off. Remember that scene of their first interrogation of Kurogiri? And his brain activity went blank. Yeah, that kind of shuts off.
Not like heās ignoring them. Not like heās upset. But completely, biologically off. No brain activity. Zero. For two hours, more or less. The number differs each time, and they just stopped trying.
They said, they really tried to tell him that "Youāre not Kurogiri anymore", and suddenly, heās gone. Like someone just flipped a switch.
And when he comes back? He has no idea what happened.
This isnāt just brainwashing. This is something worse.
This is rewiring. This is deep-rooted conditioning. This is proof that All For One knew this might happen. Maybe not to Oboro, maybe he didn't think that far, but to Kurogiri? Yes. And so when he was created, that was placed deep into his consciousness.
And thatās not even the worst part, because sometimes, Oboro wanders off at night.
Not sleepwalking. Not dreaming. Just... standing in the middle of the street, staring into nothing. And when they shake him awake?
He doesnāt remember leaving the house.
And sometimes, when theyāre not listening, he says things that terrify them.
"Tomura Shigaraki... he was alone for so long" "No one held his hand" "He only ever knew destruction"
"I failed him once. I cannot fail again".
They saved him... but they didnāt break his chains. They can't, they tried. These chains stayed from Kurogiri to Oboro.
And worst of all?
Maybe some part of him doesn't even want to get rid of these chains.

Kurogiri: "Sometimes I wonder if I'd be cursed to sit with kids even as Oboro."
Aizawa: "You probably wouldn't be allowed near kids as Oboro."
Kurogiri: "But Hizashi is. Daily."
Aizawa: "... TouchƩ."
For those unfamillair the film Kung Fu Panda from 2008 was a huge hit. So much so it go itself sequels TV specials and a cartoon series named Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness.Ā
Itās a great show. It gives us a lot more information on the Furious Five, Shifu, and a lot of new characters. One of those new characters is Peng, Tai Lungās nephew.
Now all the fans of the original must be pretty confused. I now will try to make sense of it by addressing all the inconsistencies in the lore and finding explanations to them.
1. Tai Lung doesnāt have a family, right?
Not true from the bat. Everybody has/had a family. Someone had to purposefully left him in front of the palace. It probably were his parents or one of his parents.
2. Why would they leave him like that?
Now thatās tricky. We never get information as to why he was abandoned. The keyword is nephew. A nephew is a son of your brother or sister, or a son of your husbandās or wifeās brother or sister.
We know Tai Lung never married, no girlfriend, no fuck-buddy, any one-night stands. Unless something new comes out and retcons it too. Itās most likely that Tai Lungās whole life revolved around kung fu, training, and becoming a dragon warrior.
It must mean that Peng is the son of Tai Lungās brother or sister, or a son of their husbandās or wifeās brother or sister.
The thing that changes everything is whether they left Tai Lung before or after his brother/sister was born. It could be that they havenāt been ready for a child, yet. Maybe they were too poor or had too many children, maybe even both. We just donāt know. Thereās too little information.
3. Why didnāt they come back for him or tried to reach out?
It wouldāve been awkward, to say the least. āHey, weāre your parents. We left you here because we couldnāt take care of you, but now we can. Want to come with or keep in touch?ā They are basically strangers. And appearing out of nowhere would seem like they want to gain something from having a famous relative. Before Tai Lung tried to steal the scroll he was kind of a hero. Just like the Furious Five and Po after him.
Besides, I doubt there is something like a paternity test in ancient China, even or especially in animation.
4. How could they know anything about Tai Lung?
Do you know how sometimes people that gave away their children are still somewhat interested in their kids well being? Just to make sure they made the right choice, and the kid is happy and safe. Also, people talk and gossip. They couldāve just dropped by a couple of times and asked āWho is this snow leopard?ā and people would start gushing about how Tai Lung is so awesome and might be a dragon warrior.
5. Why The Jade Palace?
Well, why not? From Tigressās backstory, it looks like āscaryā animals might have a hard time fitting in with ācuteā prey animals.Ā Also, living in a palace where you can learn history, kung fu, and even become a hero beloved by everyone is nicer than possibly living in an orphanage until youāre too old.
There are still many questions and things that can be explored but I wouldnāt call them lore braking or contradictions. There is just more to the story and I hope we get more of it.
Peng only showed up in 3 episodes (I think) that mainly focused on him in the present and not his family and the past. Iām going to write another post dedicated to him in the future.
If you have more questions feel free to ask and Iāll try to answer them best of my ability.
I havenāt watched kung fu panda or the show in a long time. So Iām going to watch it to refresh my memory and maybe see something I havenāt noticed before.
I don't care for character design, so fuck it, here you go with them in heaven and barely any change
lmao look at conan
