I'm fucking dying at this page someone shared on Bluesky.
Behold, the Embroidery Trouble Shooting Guide that forgot to close its <h3> tags.
I’m so glad I live in a world where there are cats ♡
(I bring a sort of “Everyone has inherent worth regardless of their productivity” Vibe to every conversation that ableists don’t really seem to like)
I can't deal with those male fitness instructors on Instagram who try to be all coy about their big asses... shake that wagon like a whore or delete your account
Mzulan (arms crossed, standing outside a Tribunal ruin with a disgusted squint):
“They still have the ears. Still have the eyes. Still carry the same smugness in their posture. But now they burn incense and call it forgiveness.” (Spits in the ash.) “No. I remember the Chimer.”
Even after thousands of years—and despite becoming something more nuanced, more contemplative—there are scars that don’t smooth with time. And one of them walks like a Dunmer and chants like a saint.
Arrogant. Devout. Reckless.
Obsessed with Daedra, ancestral veneration, and destiny.
Constantly clashing with Dwemer logic, despising atheism, and mocking technology.
Viewed the Dwemer as “soulless smiths” and “machine-slaves.”
“They called us godless. We called them pyromaniacal dreamers with shiny rocks and egos.”
He returns to a world where the Chimer have become the Dunmer, broken by betrayal, shadowed by gods and sins alike.
His reaction?
“They changed skin, not structure. Still pray before breaking things.”
He sees some worthy individuals among them. But as a people?
“You built your culture on a foundation of corpses and whispers, and now wonder why it creaks when you walk.”
He especially distrusts:
Ashlander mystics (“Desert philosophers wrapped in guilt and silt.”)
Tribunal scholars (“Gods made of ego. Temples made of apology.”)
Dunmer historians (“They rewrite us as villains to make themselves tragic. I take that personally.”)
On a Telvanni Wizard:
“Floating in a mushroom tower. Still compensating for something.”
On a Dunmer priest of Azura:
“Oh good. The Moon Mistress still collects worshippers. Tell her I remember her favoritism.”
On seeing Velothi architecture still standing:
“Of course it’s still standing. Chimer buildings collapse only when someone stops praying. Or thinking.”
On a young Dunmer trying to reconcile cultures:
“I respect your effort. But understand this: Your ancestors tried to burn out my gods and shatter my truths. I’m not ready to dance in the ashes with you just yet.”
She wants peace. She sees the Dunmer as wounded descendants trying to climb free of their ancestors’ chains.
Her line:
“They carry their guilt like relics. You carry your memory like armor. Perhaps neither of you are free.”
Mzulan replies:
“Freedom isn’t the goal. Truth is. And I remember who lied the most.”
“The Chimer never respected silence. They filled it with prophecy. With fire. With screams. We filled it with equations. I still hear both when I dream. One calms me. The other... wakes me.”
Another character concept I wanted to draw; an Ordinator who has contracted Corprus, and now spends the last of his sane days eradicating Sixth House cultists.
As he is no longer allowed to affiliate with the Ordinators, he has been stripped of his Indoril helmet and conceals his armour, however Local Temples will sometimes leave supplies for him at dead drops. When citizens begin to hear about him, they start to leave him prayers and offerings of beads and trinkets. He carries them with him and adorns his armour with them to remind him of his purpose. When the time comes and he feels his mind slipping too far (if he hasn't already died fighting in some Sixth House pit) he will pass through the ghost gate and never be seen again.
7 and 45 for the writing asks >:) I know you've done some really meaty TES worldbuilding and I'm always fascinated by how people can extrapolate so much on what bare bones we're given
45. What’s something you’ve improved on since you started writing fic?
GRAMMAR. And punctuation. I couldn't properly use a comma to save my LIFE before my benevolent and patient beta readers pointed out all of the things I was doing incorrectly. From dialogue tags to dangling participles, I feel like my grasp on grammar has improved leaps and bounds within the last 6 years that I've been writing fic regularly. (And getting feedback).
7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
Oh lord this is a tough one. I've really enjoyed working with the Falmer, obviously. I was very excited to make the connection between a blind race adopting sound magic (Tonal Architecture) into their culture. Especially since it's a reclamation of sorts. Re-taking the power that their slavers used to subdue them.
But I also had A LOT of fun with...ah fuck I just went looking and realized IT'S NOT EVEN PUBLISHED. Okay, random snippet from "Ex Oblivione" below the cut on the Daedric realms and traveling between them. Explained to us by none other than my favorite teacher who never asked to be a teacher, Neloth:
“I’ve been to Apocrypha,” Aerik argued. “I know what it’s like.”
Neloth tutted and shook his head, a smug smile curling the corners of his mouth. “My dear boy, you’ve accessed Apocrypha through a Black Book. Your physical body remained here, on Nirn. What you perceived as ‘Apocrypha’ was simply a single tome. The full realm stretches the length of Tamriel, if not Nirn itself.”
With a quick gesture, Neloth procured a glimmering, ethereal map in the air before them—a map of Tamriel.
“Think of the planes of Oblivion as such…” He pulled his hands apart, and the map separated into multiple layers of different colors. “They exist in parallel to our own world, overlapping and congruous. The Daedra did not create their realms, for they are incapable of creation. Instead, they used Mundus as a sort of… blueprint, if you will. Each plane mirrors our own in this sense. Fargrave, by comparison…” Another gesture and a diagonal map appeared in the center of the planes, dissecting the others. “Fargrave is an anomaly. None can say how it originated, if by Aedra, Daedra, or other beings entirely. But its position allows access to almost any known plane of Oblivion.”
“This is great,” said Aerik with a nod as he stroked his beard thoughtfully. “I’m a visual learner, so this is helping me a lot.”
Neloth waved the maps away and they dissipated like clouds of shimmering smoke. “Because of this overlap, it is not guaranteed that we will arrive anywhere nearby the location we need to be in order to find Miraak. We must be able to locate the approximate area of Apocrypha that corresponds with Solstheim, since this appears to be the seat of Miraak’s power and the point at which he is attempting to break into our world. This will be the most difficult task, and it may take time to calculate.”
Here’s a list of 20 signs of anger that writers can use to show, rather than tell, a character’s emotions through physical, verbal, and internal reactions:
Clenched jaw or grinding teeth
Narrowed or glaring eyes
Lips pressed into a thin line or curled into a sneer
Fists clenched tightly at their sides
Tense shoulders that rise or square up
Puffing out the chest or stepping closer to confront
Voice lowered to a dangerous, icy tone
Shouting or raising their voice suddenly
Speaking in short, clipped sentences
Heavy, rapid breathing (nostrils flaring)
Sharp inhales and audible exhales
Holding their breath as if trying to stay in control
Slamming fists onto tables or walls
Pacing back and forth restlessly
Pointing a finger or jabbing the air during speech
Shoving objects off a desk or knocking over a glass
Finger tapping or knuckle cracking
Wrapping arms tightly around themselves
Red face, neck, or ears
Visible veins on the neck or forehead
Breaking into a sweat despite the situation
Eyes darting or rolling sharply
Avoiding direct eye contact out of fury
Staring someone down with unblinking intensity
Cursing, insults, or verbal jabs
Sarcasm sharpened to hurt others
Accusations thrown in frustration
Leaning in closer, looming over someone
Pointed steps toward another person to intimidate
Physically turning away to dismiss or avoid conflict
Throwing objects or breaking things in rage
Punching walls, doors, or inanimate objects
Shaking hands or trembling with pent-up anger
Back stiffening and chin lifting defiantly
Shoulders jerking or twitching
Rigid stance as though ready for confrontation
“I could feel the blood boiling in my veins.”
“The room seemed to close in on me.”
“My pulse thundered in my ears.”
Kicking objects on the ground (chairs, trash bins)
Storming off abruptly or slamming doors
Snapping at someone unrelated to the cause of anger
Heat rushing to their face or spreading through their chest
A cold sensation washing over them, signaling restrained anger
Feeling fire “lick” at their insides or their temper “ignite”
A growl or grunt escaping their lips
Baring their teeth as if instinctively defensive
Ripping or tearing something in their grip
Pausing dramatically before responding
Refusing to speak or meet someone’s eyes
The ominous quiet just before they explode
Muscles twitching or vibrating under the skin
Heart pounding visibly at their throat or chest
A bitter taste in their mouth or nausea from anger
Interrupting others to correct or attack
Dismissing concerns with a quick wave of the hand
Throwing out ultimatums like “Don’t push me!”
Hands trembling after the initial outburst
A headache, buzzing ears, or lingering tension
Regret or shame slowly replacing the heat of the anger
These signs can be layered together to create realistic and powerful depictions of anger, whether it’s smoldering beneath the surface or erupting violently.
