okay reader has top surgery btw :3
âcâmon get in with me! itâll be fun!â your girlfriend squealed in the bathtub, the bubbles almost spilling out the top. brushing your teeth, you just shook your head and chuckled at her. jackie knows youâll give into her begging eventually, so she keeps nagging you (and it finally works!)
you spat into the sink and started to undress, your shirt coming off first. you felt jackieâs eyes on you. âyouâre staring.â you slipped off your boxers. âi canât help it.â
jackie giggled when you finally sat down in the warm soapy water, immediately putting bubbles on your face and head. she began staring at you again, except the smile on her face was bigger. âwhat?â
âyouâre so handsome.â her hands went down to your flat, bubbly chest. you giggled softly, trying to play off you getting flustered by splashing her. ây/n, stoppp!â she shrieked playfully as you flailed your arms in the water like a dolphin. by the time you stopped, jackie already had a pout on her face. âyouâre mean.â
âwhat if i wash your hair to make up for it?â
âand give me a cuddle.â
âyou got yourself a deal, babe.â
hc! jackie has a crush on you and she doesn't hide it well.
jackie taylor x fem!reader
summary: jackie having a painfully obvious crush on you while you remain completely oblivious.
warnings: characters are aged up, oblivious reader, jackie being possessive, jealous, clingy and over-the-top affectionate, jackie being awkwardly sweet, jackie as the most dramatic lesbian alive, not proofread.
a.n: oh hi! its been a long time...
jackie taylor, the golden girl of wiskayok high, was not known for being subtle. like, at all.
when she developed a crush on you? game over. everyone could tell. the team knew. her parents probably knew. heck, even the cafeteria staff were rooting for her. everyone... except you.
she would insist on walking you to every single class, even if her next one was on the other side of the building. "it's fine, I need the cardio," sheâd say, hair bouncing as she kept pace with you.
whenever you sat together at lunch, jackie always had some excuse to sit as close as humanly possible. your thighs would brush, and sheâd casually drape an arm behind you on the bench like this was some romcom where she was the suave lead.
her attempts at giving you compliments were both endearing and slightly chaotic. âthat shirt looks really good on you! not that it wouldnât look good offâ wait, no, not like that!â cue her face turning an alarming shade of red as she stammered, completely flustered.
jackie was all about grand gestures. she'd bring you your favorite snacks without asking, even if it meant "borrowing" them from her teammates' lockers. r she'd "accidentally" sign you up as her partner for every school project ever. that was probably just her 'marking territory'.
her jealousy was comically bad. if someone so much as looked at you for longer than five seconds, jackie would swoop in like a hawk, throwing an arm around your shoulders and flashing her biggest, most obviously fake smile. "Oh hey, letâs go! you promised to help me with... uh, math homework!â (she had a solid A in math, by the way. that girl is smart.)
sometimes, her crush got the better of her, and sheâd trip over her own words. âso... you wanna make out? i mean go outâ I mean, hang out? like friends! or more than friends! orâ" youâd just laugh it off, assuming she was being her usual goofy self, while she tried not to combust on the spot.
her teammates would not let her hear the end of it. âjust tell her already!â van would groan during practice. âsheâs not that clueless.â jackie would shoot them a death glare because, in her mind, this was a delicate, slow-burn process. it's all about romance!
she wasnât above using petnames to test the waters. âhey, sweetheart, pass me that notebook?â sheâd grin when you handed it over, your only response being a confused, âuh, sure?â her heart would leap even at that small acknowledgment.
one time, during a party, someone asked if you two were dating. jackie nearly choked on her drink while you laughed and said, âno way, weâre just friends!â jackieâs forced laugh after that? absolutely tragic.
despite all her awkwardness and dramatic flair, jackie genuinely adored you. sheâd memorize all your quirks, from the way you scrunched your nose when you were deep in thought to how your laugh sounded when you found something genuinely funny.
if anyone asked her why she liked you so much, sheâd have an entire list ready: you were smart, kind, gorgeous, and somehow still completely oblivious to the fact that she was hopelessly in love with you.
spoiler alert: eventually, her feelings would spill out in the most unplanned, dramatic way possible. probably during an argument where sheâd blurt out, âbecause I like you, okay?!â only to immediately cover her mouth in horror.
and even though youâd be stunned into silence for a moment, when you finally smiled and said, âyou shouldâve just said so sooner,â all her embarrassment would melt away in an instant.
because, honestly? it was all worth it for you.
after the crash, jackieâs crush intensifies tenfold. with no distractions like school or soccer, all her attention is on you, which becomes very obvious to everyone.
jackie insists on sticking close to you at all times. âwe need to stay in pairs, itâs safer that way,â sheâd argue, even though itâs clear she just wants to keep you within armâs reach.
sheâd hoard little things she finds that might make your life easier, like an extra blanket or berries she foraged. sheâd always frame it like itâs no big deal: âi just thought youâd want this, thatâs all.â
jealous jackie? oh, itâs dialed up to 100. if someone else offers to help you with something, jackie will immediately swoop in. âshe doesnât need your help, iâve got it covered.â even though she could barely lift a bucket of water.
arguments would break out among the group about leadership and survival, but jackieâs main concern? you. sheâd constantly check in on you, asking if youâre warm enough, if youâve eaten, or if youâre scared.
shauna would initially try to protect jackieâs secret, but even sheâd get tired of the whole thing. âjackie, just tell her. youâre already risking frostbite just to sit next to her by the fire.â
during the long, cold nights, jackie would find excuses to be near you. âbody heat is the best way to stay warm,â sheâd say, but the blush on her cheeks would give her away. that damn fag. (affectionate :D)
if you ever got hurt or sick, jackie would lose her mind. sheâd hover over you like a worried mother hen, snapping at anyone who wasnât taking your condition seriously enough. âshe needs rest! and better food! and-â youâd have to calm her down before she worked herself into a frenzy.
and even though the wilderness is brutal and unforgiving, in that moment, her confession would feel like the warmest thing in the world.
Plot Summary: After Jackie left you for Jeff in your teen years, youâve done all you could to avoid running into her. You decide to go to your high schoolâs 25 year reunion once you hear that Jackie wasnât going to attend. How were you to know sheâd show up anyway.
Jackie had been acting strange for the last few days. In fact, it felt like she had been pulling away from you since graduation. Youâd gotten to the point where you had to call her friends to see if she was acting as odd with them as she was with you. Though none of them had an answer for you, she was acting the same with everybody else. Only things with you were different.
Earlier in the day, you had called Shauna, telling her that you were going to go talk to Jackie and finally see what was wrong. You had given her time to come to you and explain the reason for how she was acting, but she wouldnât budge. And the longer it went on, the quieter Jackie became. It almost seemed like she was avoiding you, but she wouldnât do that to her girlfriend. You were positive that you just needed to assure her that you would both do fine with long distance.Â
You drove over to the Taylorâs house and found an unfamiliar truck parked where you usually do. Walking up to the house, you could hear the sounds of voices through the open windows. You knock on the front door, expecting Jackie or either of her parents to open it up. You were certainly not expecting the door to open and have you face-to-face with Jeff Sadecki.
He groaned, speaking as he retreated further into your girlfriend's house. âJackie, can you not have your friends come visit when weâre on a date?â Pfff, a date? Jackieâs parents are probably trying to set them up again. That poor, delusional asshole, you thought. Jackie bounced cheerfully to the door until she saw you standing there. Her face quickly changed, and she hurriedly pushed you outside, closing the door behind you both.
You always thought Jackieâs parents suspected you and her, but you never thought theyâd go this far. "Wow, your parents have hit a new low. I mean, setting you up on a date with Jeff Sadecki? Jesus.â You laughed for a second, until you realized Jackie wasnât laughing with you. Actually, she had the most sympathetic look on her face that sheâs ever directed at you. Immediate concern filled your body. âWhat? Whatâs wrong?â
âY/n. My parents didnât set this up; I did.â Your face dropped instantly. âJax, what? Whatâre you talking about?â She tried to hold your hands when she explained herself to you, but you immediately shook yourself out of her grasp. âY/n⊠I canât do this. I canât be that way. Itâs not natural.â You didnât believe the words that she was saying. Two weeks ago, she was happily in love with you, telling you and every one of her teammates as much. And now, this?Â
âJackie, woah, where is this coming from? You felt your throat start to close up. Jackie was slowly trying to move you further from the door, afraid that her parents or Jeff would hear you.
âPlease donât make this more difficult for me than it already is. I donât want to hurt you; I just can't be like that with you anymore.â She was trying not to make her words sound as harsh as they were, and she was failing horrendously at it. The more she spoke, the more you teared up. Seeing that seemed to send her into even more of a panic as she continued talking. âI donât like women. Iâm meant to be with someone like Jeff. It just makes sense.â She tried to rationalize.
She was about to say more when you heard Jeffâs voice call from inside. âBabe! Get back in here; youâre gonna miss the highlights of my game!â She tried not to look too unhappy before she returned her gaze to you. You could see her face falter when she looked at you, standing on her doorstep crying because of what she did. Whatever sliver of her that felt bad for her actions was swiftly hidden away as she opened her front door once again. She looked at you with a stoic face and sad eyes when she said her last words to you. âGoodbye Y/n.â
Tears cascaded down your cheeks on the drive home. It felt like you were living in a fucking nightmare. It certainly didnât feel real. Some part of you couldnât blame her, you had known the pressure her parents put on her. She always seemed like she carried the world on her shoulders, but those were expectations she put on herself. Upon getting home, you immediately ran upstairs and fell into your bed.
You were only home for a few minutes when you got a call on your landline. You wanted to ignore it, but a part of you hoped that it was Jackie calling to tell you it was all a bad joke and she was sorry. You quickly answered. âHello? Jackie?â Your tone was hopeful, bordering on desperate. âUh, no?â A different voice fills your ears.
âOh hi, Shauna.â You couldn't hide the disappointment that laced through your voice when you realized that Jackie wasnât going to call. âI was just calling to see if you were home already, but I didnât expect you to be home this soon. What happened at Jackieâsââ The mention of Jackie's name made you breakdown. âShauna,⊠she left me.â The other end of the line went quiet before Shauna recovered from her surprise. âShe what? No. She wouldn't.â Her voice sounded distant, and she sounded as confused as you felt. âShe did. She dumped me for Jeff fucking Sadecki.âÂ
The fact that anyone would view Jeff as an upgrade was comical to Shauna, but she had to stifle her laugh when she heard you speak again. âIs it really that big of an issue for her to love me?â All the emotion was drained from your voice. It made Shauna uncomfortable to hear you like that. âHold on, Iâm coming over.â
Shauna made it to your house in record time. You both just sat in her car as you explained everything through sniffles. For a while, she was waiting for Jackie to pop out and say it was a prank, but no such relief came. She brought no words of comfort for you, Shauna was never good at pep talks. In fact, she would say that the only thing she was good at was brooding. However, she never left you to handle your sadness alone.
If it werenât for Shauna showing up for you that summer, you werenât sure how you would have fared. She had become your rock and did everything with you. You were close enough while you were dating her best friend, but this just felt different. There was not a thing youâd do that she wasnât asking to accompany you with. Good thing too; she would always spot when Jackie and Jeff were nearby before you could see the pair.Â
Sheâd saved you a lot of grief for the rest of the summer before you finally got peace when Jackie left for college. No more worrying about bumping into her at your favorite Deli that sheâd loved. No possibility of running into her while she was on a date with Jeff. It was a start for everything to become easier for you. A couple weeks had passed, and you were finally feeling okay. You had even begun to forget the reason for your new-found friendship with Shauna.
It was at a coffee shop, about a week before Shauna was to leave for Brown, that it happened. You sat together on the patio of the cafĂ©, laughing at something that Mari had told her earlier. Shaunaâs mother had gotten her a brand new flip phone to go away to college with. She left it on the table after showcasing it to you. All of a sudden, the little thing lights up and rings. You look down and see her name plainly displayed on the screen. Everything came back to you then. You were reminded of the girl who made all of this happen. Shauna looked at the phone, saw the name that flashed on the tiny screen, and excused herself. She was not nearly far enough that you couldnât hear her whisper yelling at Jackie. Discussing Jackieâs latest argument with Jeff and deflecting every time Jackie asked who Shauna was with, that she had to whisper.Â
Beyond the reminder of Jackie that day, you had the daunting realization that you couldnât continue your friendship with Shauna. It was wrong of you to take away and monopolize the time of your ex-girlfriend's best friend. Moreover, realizing youâd have to coexist alongside Jackie still being in Shaunaâs life and possibly encountering her in one way or another was enough to make your decision final. After Shauna went to University, youâd stop talking to her.
When Shauna left, she had given you her mailbox number and the number of her new phone, so you could call and write to her often. She left with a smile and yelled at you to promise that youâd call before the end of her first week at Brown. You just smiled at her as her mother drove her away, waving goodbye to her until the old station wagon disappeared from view.Â
Â
The years drifted by quickly as you tried to forget all about Jackie Taylor and the rest of your old friends in Wiskayok. You were glad to have gone to a college far enough from your hometown, it made it easier to stay there and disappear from everyone. You had tried dating afterwards, but everything seemed so dull in comparison. The feeling of having her love you was something indescribable. To have a random person fill the place that you always thought would belong to Jackie just didnât feel right. You told yourself you enjoyed the solitude. Convinced yourself that it was your own choice rather than a decision made without your blessings.
You were intent on keeping it that way too, trying not to remember any people from home. But thatâs when you got the call. âHey Y/n, it's Misty, Misty Quigley from high school.â Youâre not sure you ever gave Misty your number, so you wonder how she has it now. "Yeah, hi Misty, I remember. Howâve you been?â You say unenthused; you didnât actually care to know. âDoing good; Iâm an attendant at a nursing home. So Iâm living the dream! But⊠Iâd be doing better if you came to the reunion this year.âÂ
The words were like a punch to the face. âMisty noââ Sheâs quick to cut you off. âCome on, Y/n, nobody has seen or heard from you in years; some people probably think youâre dead at this point.â She was practically begging over the phone. âAnd I am fine to keep it that way, happy even.â You attempt to shut it down again. âY/nâŠplease. The girls miss you.â That tugged on your heart a little. âMisty, really, I canâtââ She cuts you off yet again with her best argument all evening. âJackie wonât be there.â
You were well aware that Jackie never misses the opportunity to go to the reunions, and thus you avoided going at all costs. Itâs only when Misty sighs and tells you that Jackie cannot attend this year because of some furniture convention in Philadelphia that Jeff was dragging her to that you begrudgingly agreed to go. You hadnât kept up with your old friends and teammates, just to avoid ever running into Jackie. You rationalized that itâd be nice to see them again with no fear of running into her. And this opportunity probably wonât come again for another 25 years, so you figured you might as well. So you reply to the Facebook invitation that youâll be attending and prepared yourself.
The day of the reunion approached faster and faster until you found yourself sitting in your car in the parking lot of your old high school, fidgeting with your dress shirt. Practically doing all that you could to stall actually going inside. The whole place reminded you of Jackie. It made you nearly sick to your stomach. All the hurt caused by her leaving you, which despite it all, was still fresh in your mind. The longer you sat, the more anxious you became. Finally, looking down at your phone and seeing the time prompted you to reach for the door handle and get out.Â
Walking through the doors of Wiskayok High, you had expected it to look different, to have been updated at all in the 25 years since your graduation. But no, it's still the same ratty old hallway in the same broken-down school that you remembered. It brought a slight sense of comfort, knowing that you could likely still navigate your way through the entire high school campus without issue.
Approaching the big, blue and yellow decorated doors, the only thing that separated you from people you hadnât seen in 20+ years, you felt nauseous. You had to keep telling yourself that Jackie wasnât here to keep your anxiety at bay. So, with a deep breath, you pushed open the large metal doors. It was decorated as well as a high school gym could be, you supposed. A lot of lights strung up with blue and yellow balloons set on each table.Â
Right as you enter, you see Misty standing by the photographer and his props. The sound of the closing door can barely be heard over the music playing throughout the gymnasium; however, she could still sense it and turn to see you. The sight brings a large smile to her face as she runs over to lead you to the table with all the other girls.Â
As you approach a large round table, you could start to make out the familiar faces of your old friends. Their conversation dies down when Natalie notices you, getting up to greet you. âHoly shitâŠwhen Misty told us you were coming, we all just thought she was full of it.â You laugh nervously. You still feel tense from being around people you used to know so well but now felt like strangers. âWell, here I am.âÂ
You turn around. âTai, congratulations on the campaign.â Taissa smiles at you before speaking. âThank you, Y/n⊠You look great.â She says it so genuinely. You'd guess that when people haven't seen you in years, they can only assume the worst.
Before you could respond, youâre wrapped in a hug by Shauna, much unlike the moody teen you once knew. âHey Shipman.â You said as you wrapped your arms around her. You embrace her for a moment before she pulls away and punches you in the arm. Now thatâs more like the Shauna Shipman you knew. âYou stopped responding to me! Donât ever do that again; Iâve missed seeing you. I really thought that I would never hear from you again.âÂ
As you gently hold the spot where Shauna laid into your arm, you try to explain yourself. "Shauna, come on, you know I couldnât keep in touch after everything with...â You gestured to an empty space next to Shauna that, when you were younger, would always be filled by Jackie. Her demeanor changed, and the others went quiet around you as well.Â
âYou know it never sat right with me, what she did.â She defends. âI know, but she needed you. I wasnât going to get in the way of that.â She looks at you with sad brown eyes. âYou still needed me too.â You shrug. âI wasnât going to ask you to choose me over your best friend.â Shauna opens her mouth to respond before Taissa grabs you by the shoulders and guides you to sit in one of the chairs. âYou guys can talk later; we need to hear about whatâs been going on in the past 20 years.â
The tension melted away quickly, and you felt as if you'd picked up right where you left off with them. Everyone tells you about what theyâve been up to. Youâre most surprised that Shauna has a daughter now. She hit you again when you told her that she never struck you as the nurturing type. It felt so light and perfect, you knew something had to go wrong.
The metal doors have been opening and closing all night, with people going in and out of the gym. So, of course, you paid it no mind when the metal clicked open and shut once more. You were far too intrigued to hear about Natalieâs latest rehab stint to notice the approaching figure until it was too late.
âHi guys!â A cheery voice breaks through the crowd. You felt like a deer caught in headlights. You didnât need to look at her to know who it was. You were frozen, all you could hear were some nervous greetings from around the table. By the tense tone in the girls' voices, it seemed they wanted to be swallowed by the ground just as much as you did.Â
You watched her gaze flit to every person before landing on you. âHi Y/n.â Her smile shone as brightly as you remember it. If you hadnât known her like you did, you wouldâve assumed she was being fake with you. âHey Jackie.â Your voice low as you tried to avoid her eyes and take a sip of your drink. Shauna laid her hand on your arm and squeezed reassuringly; the action was not lost on Jackie. You watched her eyes focus on the action, her face hiding a barely contained scowl now. She was about to speak again when Misty spoke up.
You thank every higher power in the sky, as it made Jackie face Misty instead of you. Her green eyes felt like they were burning into your skin the longer she stared. âYou said you werenât coming. The convention?â Misty looked like she felt guilty for putting you in this position. You wouldâve thought it was a trap, but you knew Jackie. "Oh, didnât you get my email? Last week, Jeff decided that he wanted to go alone. So I emailed you, saying that I would be attending after all.âÂ
Jackie was never great at lying. It may not have been obvious to the others, but to you and Shauna, you could read Jackie like a book. You turned to Shauna with a suspicious look, and her face mirrored your own. Misty gave her a confused look. âYou didnât email me.â Jackie feigned surprise. "Oh, silly me, I mustâve written it up but never sent it.â She turned to the table with a âwhat can you doâ expression and a shrug as she moved to sit down. She took the open chair directly across from you. God, itâd be hard to avoid eye contact with her now.
"So, Y/n I haven't heard from you in ages; are you married?â Jackie never had tact when she wanted something, but the sheer audacity to ask stunned you. Everyone else seemed to have the same sentiment as you because the girls all avoided eye contact. Shauna tried to scold Jackie, but that only encouraged her to persist further with you. To cease the girls bickering, you gave her an answer. âUh, no, Jackie. Iâm not.â She tried to push a small smile from her face when she responded. âOh, really? Thatâs too bad.âÂ
At that, Taissa pushed herself from the table, stating that she was going to go get a plate of something to eat. Natalie and Misty both followed her, seeming to find the encounter too awkward to bear. âSo, why arenât you on Facebook?â Jackie continued to pry.Â
âI am; I just have a few people blocked.â You didnât leave anything up for interpretation with your tone. Shauna laughed beside you. She seemed to have read the hint immediately, while Jackie was still catching up. You knew, however, exactly when she figured it out because she instantly pouted. The slight against her did nothing to dissuade her efforts, though. She was as persistent as ever; you could give her that much.
"So, to be clear, youâre not dating anyone? Right?â That was the last straw. You got up from the table, stating that you were going to find the food Tai was referring to. As you left the table, you could hear Shauna chastise Jackie quietly. You couldnât make out much, but you did hear the distinct sound of Jackie complaining before you were out of earshot. âWhat Shauna? Itâs not like I could check on her Facebook.â
You stayed by the buffet table for a few minutes, making idle chatter with whoever recognized you. Anything to avoid being stuck with Jackie at the table. However, it didn't take long for her to grow bored and go searching for you. She appeared out of nowhere; it almost startled you. It was as if one second you were alone, and the next she was beside you, already opening her mouth to yap.
âCrazy bumping into you. Now that I have you here, you never answered that question back there.â You rolled your eyes and did your best to ignore her. "Oh, come on, Y/n. You never come to these; I just wanna catch up!â You had about had it. Turning to face her completely, you drop the niceties.
âCut the shit Jackie, you and I both know youâre lying. Why are you really here?â Jackie stands there a little stunned; youâd never snapped like that at her while you were dating. "I, uh⊠well, I saw that you responded to the Facebook invite and that you were coming. And I just wanted to see you and maybe talk to you.â You donât have the energy for her right now. âThereâs nothing to talk about, Jackie. I donât want explanations or apologies. Just leave me alone.â You turned and walked back to the table where Shauna was seated alone.Â
You sighed as you sat down next to her, with your head in your hands. Shauna leaned over and rubbed your back. She was doing her best to give you some semblance of comfort. She knew this was a lot for you; she didnât have to say it. It was painfully obvious and awkward enough to send your other three friends running to interact with literally anyone else. When you brought your head back up, you could see Jackie staring at the two of you. She looked so insecure as she stood right where you left her. Shifting uncomfortably on her feet, she looked like a kicked puppy. You laid your head in your hands again and groaned.Â
âI donât know what to do, Shauna; she wonât stop with me.â Your voice came out muffled from your hands. You could hear Shauna sigh next to you, and her hand dropped from your back. "Yeah, she was never great with the word âno'.â She laughed. You huffed out a small laugh as well.Â
You heard a click of heels on the gym floor coming at you and looked up. You saw Jackie marching over to the table with renewed vigor. She stood directly at your side and placed her hands on her hips when she addressed you. âY/n I really think we should talk about what happened.â She said it in the exact tone that she would always do when you were teenagers. The same tone that got you to straighten up and do exactly what she said.Â
You were getting so frustrated with her. Youâd just wanted a moment of peace away from her, and she couldnât seem to respect that. Fuck it. You stood, turned to Shauna, and offered her your hand. âYou wanna dance?â A look of surprise crossed her face, but upon seeing your expression of determination, she smiled and delicately placed her hand in yours. âIâd love to.â She rose from her seat, and you led her to the dance floor, leaving Jackie with a look of utter shock as you brushed past her.
You enjoyed your time with Shauna, laughing together as you moved around the dance floor. Every now and then, when you spun her, youâd get a look behind her at the table. The table where youâd see Jackie sitting alone, miserably gazing at you and her best friend dancing. Jackie was downing her drinks quickly. Sheâd kept pouring herself more drinks from the punch bowl to drown her sorrows. The punch bowl that sat in the middle of the table, the one that Natalie had definitely spiked earlier in the night. You tried to not let the image of Jackie sitting sad and alone because of your actions burn itself into your brain.
âI know what youâre doing.â Shaunaâs voice made you shift your gaze away from Jackie. âHuh?â You attempted to play dumb. She rolled her eyes. âIf youâre trying to get a reaction out of her, youâre doing a good job.â You straightened up, and Shauna gave you a look like she knew sheâd nailed exactly what you were up to. âI think that Jackie brought this onto herself.â You deflected. Shauna shrugged before smirking at you. "Oh, she definitely did.â She leaned in closer and whispered in your ear. âBut next time, let me know, and I can help you drive her up a wall.â You canât fight the grin that took over your face. You spun her again as you spoke. "Well, she always did seem to get a little jealous when it came to us, Shippy.â
An hour had passed while you continued to dance with Shauna until a brash voice broke you both apart. âSorry to interrupt you, lovebirds.â You and Shauna turned to Nat, with a visibly drunk Jackie being dragged behind her. ââLovebirds?ââ Jackie questioned with a pout. âJesus.â You muttered as they got closer.Â
Nat all but tossed Jackie into Shauna, and Jackie instantly melted into the form of her best friend. âSheâs a mess. She needs to go home.â Jackie attempted to mumble something in protest, but it was muffled with her face in Shauna's shoulder. Natalie looked at Shauna expectantly. "Oh, I didnât drive here; Callie dropped me off. And she hasnât answered any of my texts, so I think sheâs asleep.â Then both Shauna and Nat looked to you.
"Oh, come on.â You immediately protested. âIâm sorry, Y/n. You drove here and you barely had anything to drink; itâs the safest option.â Shauna being against you for this argument felt like a small betrayal to you. Shauna was right, and you didn't necessarily want anything bad to happen to anyone on their ride home. But that didn't mean you should have to be the one to take her home. âNo, you know how I feel about her.â Jackie lifted her head and body from Shauna to complain. âHey, Iâm right here.â Natalie halfheartedly pushed her back into Shauna, and Jackie fell right back into her place on Shauna.
âNo Shauna.â You tried to say it in a tone that left no room for debate, but of course Shauna persisted. âY/n please? Iâll even go too. Youâd actually be doing me a favor since I need a ride.â You were about to object further; tell her âno wayâ when you looked at Jackie. She hadnât stopped staring since she was brought over. Her eyes were so sad, and her leaning up against Shauna like she had no legs of her own made her look utterly helpless. You couldnât fight the soft spot you still had for her, and when you looked at Shauna, it just solidified it more. You knew you werenât going to be on the winning side of this argument. âFine⊠FINE. Iâll do it.â Shauna, who youâre sure wouldâve reached out and squeezed your hand if it hadnât been holding Jackieâs form upright, mouthed a thank you.Â
You gathered your things and led Shauna, who was still supporting her best friend, to your car. As soon as you went to unlock the back door for Shauna to slide Jackie into, Jackie found enough drunken athleticism to slide over to the passenger's side door. You looked warily at Shauna, who halfheartedly tried to bring Jackie to the backseat. As soon as Jackie started whining about how she didnât want to sit in the back, Shauna conceded and got into your back seat instead. You rolled your eyes. You really didnât want to be stuck up front with Jackie, but it seemed you had no choice. You took a deep breath before getting into your seat and pulling out of the parking spot.
The ride was quiet; for the most part, you and Shauna occasionally spoke and reminisced about things you did together that last summer before college. You almost forgot about Jackie sitting silently in the passenger's seat, or you would have if she wasnât staring at you and Shauna as you spoke fondly about times that didnât include her. You were about to turn to head towards Jackieâs house when Shauna spoke up.
âY/n, I hate to do this to you, but is there any way you can drop me off first?â You gave her a look in the rear view mirror that said, âAre you kidding me?â Shauna looked at you sympathetically. You knew she didnât want to do this to you on purpose. âI know, Iâm sorry. I just need to make sure Callieâs alright; I havenât left her alone this long since before her dad left.â You roll your eyes but adjust to head towards Shaunaâs house.Â
When you pulled up to Shaunaâs house, you could see there was a light on upstairs. Shauna sighs and mutters something under her breath about Callie being up at this hour and not texting her back. She scooted over and wrapped her arms around Jackie from behind the seat. "Night, Jax, see you soon.â She then got out and walked over to your door, then waited outside it for a moment with an expectant look on her face. âArenât you going to walk me to the door?â You smiled at the sentiment and got out, leaving the car door open, before you walked Shauna up to her porch. She enveloped you in a hug before you could utter a word of farewell.Â
She pulled back before speaking. âYou are not allowed to not talk to me for more than a week, ever again. You hear me?â You laughed. âIâm serious, Y/n.â Shauna continued. âI promise I'll keep in touch, Shauna.â You said, genuinely. âYou better.â She leaves you with a lingering kiss on your cheek before heading inside. When you turned to walk back to your car, you saw that Jackie watched the entire interaction. She had such a sad look on her face when you walked back, you felt like you were caught doing something that you weren't supposed to.
After you got back into the car, there was only a beat of silence before Jackie spoke up. âSo youâre not, like⊠in love with Shauna now, right?â There was a hesitance in her voice; all her insecurity was laced into that one question. âWhat? Jackie, that'sââ You tried, but she cut you off. âCause I hope she likes my sloppy seconds.â She had rolled down the window to scream the sentiment out towards Shaunaâs house, as if Shauna would hear her behind the closed door. You hastily pulled her back in, scrambling a little. You were very aware of how much noise Jackie was making at such a late hour; however, Jackie wasnât while she was in her drunken state. âJesus Jackie, shhhh. Whatâs wrong with you?â Jackie sat back in the passenger's seat with a pout and folded her arms. âI just donât appreciate the way sheâs been acting with you.âÂ
âYou donât get to feel any way about how anyone acts with me. You lost that right a long time ago. Now letâs just go home, please.â Jackie lays her head back against the headrest and closes her eyes as she protests. âNoooooo.â How did you used to put up with her whining daily? This was exhausting. "No, seriously, Jackie. We have to go; itâs late, and I want to go to bed.â She continued drunkenly complaining. âI donât wannaaaa.â You were desperate to not be alone with her anymore, so you tried to say something that would make her relent.
âJackie, please, you have to go home. Jeff will be worried about you.â She shook her head against the window, practically falling asleep in your passenger's seat. You sighed. Of course, she was being stubborn with you. Twenty-five years of not talking, and she still acted the same. âWhat do you mean? Yes, he will.â You wouldnât know; you donât know how Jeff is, but it hurt more the longer that you stayed around Jackie, and you just needed to get away from her. She only laughed humorlessly at your comment as she slumped further into the seat. âNuh-uh⊠Me and Jeff arenât together anymore.âÂ
The confession hit you like a ton of bricks, so much so that it left you speechless for a moment. âWhat? Are you serious?â She nodded, her eyes still closed. âMhmm.â You had a million things that you wanted to askâhow, whyâbut the only thing that left your mouth was, âDo the others know?âÂ
Only at this did her eyes slowly open, and she just stared vacantly down the dark street. âNope.â Popping the âpâ when she said it. âWhy?â She still refused to make eye contact with you when she answered. âThe girls would just yell at me⊠Tell me that I hurt you for nothing. And I did; I know that. I don't have to have them tell me that I ruined the only good thing Iâve ever had when I left you.â You sat in silence for a beat, looking down at the steering wheel, as you tried desperately to process all that she said.Â
You turned back to face her when she continued speaking, finding her already looking at you for the first time during the whole conversation. âIâm sorry, by the way. For what I did. I really wish I was a better person for you; you deserved it.â Her eyes were illuminated by the glow of the street lights, showing that she was tearing up.
A younger version of yourself would have hopped over the center console to hug her the second you saw her anywhere close to crying. The most that the current you could muster was to break the intense eye contact and utter a half-hearted "Yeah, well⊠we canât change the past.â There was a pause in conversation; the air was tense now that Jackie had aired out all her dirty laundry. Her voice was low as she resumed speaking. âI wish I wasnât afraid of what wouldâve happened with us. Maybe Iâd be happy now. We probably wouldâve had a good life.â You put the car in drive, as you replied. âYeah, maybe.â
You drive to Jackieâs childhood home, having memorized its path from every corner of Wiskayok. You wanted to ask so much more, but debated whether it would upset her. Jackie, who seemed almost sober now, is slumped against the passenger door, looking out the window. She spoke, but you were too lost in thought to hear it. âIâm sorry, what was that?â She sighed. âI said, I know you. You obviously want to ask something. Go ahead; it wonât make me sad.â Her bluntness caught you by surprise, but then again, what about her didnât nowadays?Â
âWell, how long has it been?â You donât need to say what the question was pertaining to for Jackie to know what you meant. Itâs a bittersweet feeling to know that, despite everything, she could still read you and know what you were thinking so well. She took a deep breath before she answered. âAlmost a year now. It's why I wasnât going to come this year; I couldn't face anyone. Not when I havenât worked up the courage to tell them.â You nodded along as you continued driving. âWas there a reason?â She hesitated and turned to face you before she answered.
âYeah, I just never could get over you. I still haven't, and I donât think I ever will.â She said it so candidly that you were hoping you didnât hear her correctly. You wanted to ignore the mixed feelings bubbling into your stomach, because now all of what she said the whole night was more than just high school nostalgia. More than simple âWhat ifâ scenarios, and more than hints for you to read into. That was an admission, and you were so upset that that realization happened this late in her life. Now she had you thinking that you actually could have been happy together this whole time. You were so caught up that you almost flew past Jackieâs house.
You donât say anything as you break and put the car in park. You kept looking at the steering wheel while Jackie tried desperately to meet your eyes, silently pleading for you to say something. All that you could think was that it was all for nothing. You were mostly afraid it was still the alcohol talking. You didn't want to get your hopes up for something that was only going to be true for as long as the booze was in her system.
âI think you should leave.â Jackieâs face dropped at your reaction, and almost immediately tears started to roll down her cheeks. âWhat? Y/n, no.â You still avoided her eyes. âPlease, this isn't a conversation I want to have after youâve been drinking. Itâs best that you go inside.â At that, she braced herself in your car. âIâve sobered up; please, can we talk about this?â She begged.
âJackie, you have to get out of the car.â It took the last shred of your will to try to turn her away one more time. Jackieâs voice was hoarse as she yelled back at you. "No, I canât. I canât leave because if I get out, then Iâll never see you again, and itâs all my fault.â She was beyond being consoled by words. She was sobbing so much, you felt awful for upsetting her. Up until that point, you were doing your best not to get sucked in, but how could you deny her?Â
âOkay, okay.â You relented. You got out of the car, and for a moment, Jackie had a look of panic on her face, seeming ready to chase after you if you left her. You got to the passengerâs door, and as soon as you opened the door, Jackie grabbed onto you and held you in a hug. You mustered up the calmest voice that you could when you spoke next. âIâm sorry.â She sobbed into your shoulder, mumbling, âPlease donât leave.â over and over.
âPlease, can you stay tonight? Can we just go inside and pretend that I didnât mess it all up?â She sniffled into your shirt. You nodded, slowly rubbing her back while you tried to soothe her. When you were younger, youâd dreamt about this scenario and getting to tell Jackie âno.â But that didnât happen. Truth be told, you donât think it took more than a second of thought. "Yeah, we can do that, Jax.â
Once she had calmed down, you gradually began to let her go while whispering gently for her to go inside. She grabs your hand as she guides you through a house that was once so familiar to you. Jackie had moved and changed some things around, but it still looked relatively the same.
She pulled you toward her old childhood bedroom. Something about it felt so different. But not much was changed aside from her replacing the pink carpeting with a gray color. It felt almost like a betrayal to change something that was once so sacred to you both. An escape from her parents, a place where you could kiss her safely. It all felt foreign, even if it was the same room you had snuck into countless times just to fall asleep together. Jackie had always hated sleeping alone. You guessed that never changed based on the situation you found yourself in now.
Your musings were interrupted by Jackie tapping your arm. You turned and found Jackie with an embarrassed look on her face. She faced away and showed that she was struggling to fully unzip her dress from the evening. You rolled your eyes as she held her hair up with one hand, assuring it wouldnât be in the way. Gently holding her shoulder with one hand, you slowly pulled the zipper down with the other. As her dress was being undone, more and more of her back was being exposed to you. It was intimate; she knew it. She could still read you like the back of her hand, so she knew exactly what she was doing.
Once the dress was fully unzipped, your hand slowly dropped from her shoulder, softly tracing Jackieâs skin in its descent. She turned and looked right into your eyes. She didnât break eye contact with you when she reached up and looped her arms around your neck. As if it were second nature, you placed your hands on her waist. âIâve really missed you.â She spoke in a whispered tone, as if there were any other people around to hear you. The only time her eyes left yours was to glance at your lips. Her intentions were obvious, and you were never that strong-willed when it came to denying Jackie something that she wanted.
You found yourself leaning in before you could give it a second thought. The urge to fall right back into place with Jackie was too difficult to deny. Jackie notices the action and moves to meet you in the middle. Once you were only an inch from each other's lips, you felt Jackie pull you the rest of the way into her. Her lips pressed roughly against yours, trying to convey every emotion she still felt for you.
Her hands move from your neck to thread into your hair. The grip you had on her waist tightened, and you brought her body closer to you. Jackie let out a small moan at the contact. After years of not hearing it, the noise sounded heavenly. It only spurred you on further. You backed her up against the nearest wall, and Jackie made a small sound when she hit it. Her dress was slipping further and further down her body as you kept going. The noises Jackie was making, the way she'd occasionally ground her hips into you, searching for friction. You knew where this was heading, and as lovely as that idea was, you knew you needed to stop. Everything in you wanted to continue, but you knew you had to separate to avoid taking it further too quickly. You pulled away, leaving a few chaste kisses on her lips to avoid seeing her pout.
When you both pulled apart, she was panting heavily. Once Jackie caught her breath, her face broke out into the largest smile. She always used to smile like that after kissing you when you were younger. You had to admit that it made you happy to see that you still had that effect on her. Jackie disappeared into her bathroom to get into her pajamas. It was at this point that you became painfully aware that you were still in your clothes from the reunion. You tried to adjust your clothing to be able to sleep in it.
Jackie came out of the bathroom while you were attempting to make your clothes as comfortable as possible. âHold on!â She disappeared from the room with a smile on her face. You could hear her footsteps retreat, some fumbling sounds from the hallway, and her footsteps returning. She came back with a box in her hands. After she placed it on the floor and opened it up, you could see that it was full of your old clothes.
âYou kept all these?â You said in astonishment as you sifted through all the clothes she stole from you years ago. She suddenly seemed bashful, watching you go through your old sports apparel and flannels. âIâuh, yeah, itâs always good to have some extra clothes lying around.â After finding a shirt and sweats that you found suitable for the night, you looked at Jackie. She nervously fiddled with her fingers before she continued speaking. âThey actually still smelled like you for a long time after... everything. And it was nice, you know, to have some reminders of you still here. But just so you know, this is just a loan. I want those clothes back.â You smiled at her, getting up to give her a hug before you went to change.Â
After you got into your old clothes that still miraculously fit very well, you crawled into her bed. Jackie hit the lights and walked over to the other side of the bed. You felt all the nostalgia hit you as you laid down on the soft sheets while Jackie climbed in as well. Her sheets and pillows smelled like her; it's comforting but brings a pit to your stomach at the same time. Laying in bed next to the love of your life for the first time in twenty-five years will do that to you, you guessed.
You laid flat on your back as Jackie curled into your side. She maneuvered your arm to hold her, effectively trapping herself against you. You both lay in the quiet of the dark room; the only light in the room was shining in from the streetlight outside. Jackie gingerly played with your fingers as you both sat in fulfilled silence. After a few minutes, Jackie turned her head to face to lay on your chest and held your torso.Â
She was barely awake when she whispered to you. âPromise me that youâll still be here when I wake up.â Her voice was muffled from her face being pressed against your chest. She said it so delicately, pleading with you. You were so caught up in the fondness of the moment that you took a beat to answer. After not immediately receiving an answer, Jackie opened her eyes and looked up at you. The sleepy expression on her face was wiped away, and you could see just how scared she was of never seeing you again. You'd do anything to never see her afraid like that again.
âI promise.â She took you in once more before leaning in and gently kissing you. It was innocent and lazy, kissing you just because she missed doing it. As if she were making up for lost time. Your heart thumped with an unearned feeling of domesticity.Â
It only took a moment for Jackie to detach from you. She rolled to face away from you but scooched herself back to be flush against you. You took the hint and wrapped your arm around her waist. You could feel the grin that Jackie had on her face without even seeing it. She then placed her hand over yours and laced her fingers in between yours. No more than a minute or two later, Jackie fully relaxed into you. Her breathing slowly evened out as she fell asleep, still keeping a tight grip on you.Â
Tomorrow, youâd plague yourself with the questions of what this meant for you and Jackie going forward. As for tonight, you just missed the feeling of holding her while you slept, and youâre not prepared to continue on without experiencing it every night. The rhythmic sound of her breathing and the smell of her conditioner brought a comfort to you that you had long forgotten.Â
Summary: You were Jackieâs best friend in college, but youâve drifted apart a bit since sheâs moved in with her boyfriend-turned-fiance Jeff. Youâve been in love with her for the longest time, but when she calls you still agree to be one of her bridesmaids. Sure hope no one has any second thoughts.Â
A/N: Jackieshauna fight still happens but Shauna never slept with Jeff. Also assume the wedding planning stuff happens between scenes.
You still remember your and Jackieâs first meeting vividly. Not because it was love at first sight or anything, but because you entered your new dorm room for the first time to the sound of your roommate violently sobbing into her pillows. You stood in the doorway wide-eyed and glanced back at your mother who seemed just as surprised as you. You quietly shut the door and came back a few hours later and pretended that it had never happened when Jackie had excitedly introduced herself to you.
Much of your first semester was spent in a similar way. You had a lot of sympathy for Jackie as she cried so hard about her ex-best friend youâd thought for the longest time that she had died. You had a little less sympathy when you found out they had just gotten in a fight, but you still spent a lot of time comforting her. Her and Shauna had eventually made up after they had both gone home for winter break, but you and Jackieâs bond had already been cemented. You and Jackie were practically inseparable for all of undergrad, and you got fairly close to Shauna for that reason.Â
You and Jackie had a lot of moments where you were sure that you were about to kiss, but sheâd always pull away at the last minute and laugh about how drunk the two of you were. Youâd nod along unconvincingly and avoid her for a few days afterwards. You couldnât remember at what point you had fallen in love with Jackie. Maybe you always were and just didnât know it. Not that it mattered all that much, you would never tell her. Not when she had him. You didnât want to ruin that for her, even if it meant stifling all of your feelings. You had a desperate need to get some space between the two of you, in the hope that distance would help your feelings fade.
That had been a big reason why you and Shauna decided to get a place together after Jackie moved in with her long-time boyfriend Jeff. You had both decided by chance to go to the same school to get your Masterâs degree and decided to live together to save money. Jackie was both over-the-moon that her two favorite people were living in the same place, and jealous that you were doing it without her. When she drunkenly admitted it one night you looked at her curiously. âWouldnât Jeff be one of your favorite people?â You asked. âOh,â She murmured, as if she had forgotten about him. âYeah, him too of course.â
âŠ
You were sitting at the kitchen table across from Shauna, the both of you working on separate assignments as the phone rang. Shauna looks up at you to see if you are going to answer it but rolls her eyes as you pretend not to hear the phone. You watch as she gets up to answer the phone, and stand up quickly as she says âOh, Hey Jackie.â She gives you a smug grin as she holds the phone closer to her ear so you canât hear what sheâs saying.
You watch her as she talks to Jackie for a moment before she gestures at you to walk over and holds the phone between the two of you. âAlright, Jackie. Weâre both here now.â
âHey,â Jackie says excitedly. âGuess what?â She asks.
You and Shauna share an amused look and you groan exaggeratedly. âYou could always just tell me?â You plead.Â
âYou drive a hard bargain, L/N.â She teases, âBut here it is. Jeff proposed!â You stiffen in shock. Shauna looks at you sympathetically and reaches over to gently squeeze your hand. You wouldnât say that you and Shauna were close friends, but thereâs a certain amount of familiarity that comes from being Jackie-and-Shauna and Jackie-and-Y/N thatâs bonded the two of you together. Shaunaâs shockingly perceptive when it doesnât come to things that involve her and Jackie, so it didnât surprise you that she was the first one to realize that you were in love with Jackie.
You cleared your throat quietly, trying to keep your voice from cracking. You were a little surprised that they had gotten engaged, given that you had met the man a total of ten times throughout the entirety of undergrad, but you congratulated Jackie nonetheless. âThanks,â Jackie says, in that special way of hers where you can tell even over the phone how hard sheâs smiling.
âI want the both of you to be a part of my wedding.â She says, then hesitates.
âI also wanted to talk about my maid of honor.â She says slowly, a little uncertainty clear in her voice.
âYou mean you wanted to talk to Shauna about being your maid of honor?â You say teasingly. âI get it, Jackie, really. Youâve been planning on Shauna being by your side since you were children. It doesnât hurt my feelings.â
âBesides,â You say, grinning smugly at Shauna. âQuality over quantity, after all.â Shauna scoffs and hits you on the shoulder. Fuck, that hurt. You try not to let on how hard she hit you for the sake of your own pride, but she seems to realize anyway. Sorry, Shauna mouths apologetically. You wave her off and snatch the phone from her to say goodbye to Jackie. Shauna promises to get you the details later and you go back to your assignments. You stare off into space for a while before you manage to shake yourself out of it.
She was never yours to lose, after all.
âŠ
You and Shauna drive down separately on the account of you refusing to ride in her deathtrap of a car, and her being offended on her carâs behalf. You're staying at Shaunaâs house for the duration of the wedding as Jackie claimed that âyou really didnât want to have to stay with her parents.â From the little Jackie has talked about them you think sheâs probably right. Jeffâs car pulls up Shaunaâs street about 15 minutes after yours. Jackie, predictably, still refuses to get her license.Â
Jackie throws the door open before the car even stops and starts running down the driveway towards you. Your eyes widen and you scramble to set your coffee down and brace your knees before she practically mows you over in a hug. You stumble back a few steps and she buries her head in your chest. You hold her tightly against you and breathe in the familiar scent of her shampoo. You can distantly hear Jeffâs car driving off in the background.
After a few long minutes she pulls back a little and looks around curiously. âWhereâs Shauna?â She asks, âI thought you left at the same time?â You grin wryly at her.
âWe did,â You confirm, âYou know Shauna and the speed limit, though.â She laughs brightly. She steps back and rests her hands on your shoulders to look you over thoroughly.Â
âYouâve gotten your hair cut shorter,â She accuses, running her fingers through the ends.Â
âI did. Iâm surprised you noticed though, itâs only an inch or two shorter than I normally get it cut.â You say.
She looks at you seriously for a moment before softly admitting, âI always notice things about you.â She slides her hands down your shoulders to envelop you once again. You lean back against your car and hold her in silence until Shaunaâs car pulls down the driveway.
âŠ
âIâm a little confused,â You say slowly, looking over the bridal magazines Jackie has strewn across the table. âThereâs not nearly enough pink and green in here?â Jackie glares at you as Shauna snickers behind you.Â
âYeah.â Shauna says playfully, âI donât feel like this is really you, Jax.â
âShut up,â Jackie whines pitifully, âIt was one time!â You and Shauna share an amused glance over her shoulder as Jackie crosses her arms and pouts at the both of you.
You roll your eyes and hold your hands up placatingly. âI like it if you like it, Jackie.â You say, âYou should have whatever you want in your wedding.â Jackie sighs dramatically and flops backwards against the couch.
âShauna said the exact same thing,â She accuses. âNeither of you are any help.â
âI could have an opinion on the cake,â You offer. Shauna perks up and nods.Â
Jackie pulls a pillow over her face and screams into it.
âŠ
You slipped away early to go to bed, letting Shauna and Jackie stay up to talk details about the wedding. You werenât as excited about it as Jackie deserved, anyways. You wake up to the soft sound of the latch catching as someone gently shuts the door behind them. âShauna?â You murmer a little deliriously.
You hear a quiet laugh as someone sits on the bed next to you. âNot quite.â Jackie says. You glance up at her all bleary eyes and messy hair. She smiles softly at you, looking surprisingly charmed. She runs her fingers through your hair to straighten it out.Â
âWhat are you doing here?â You ask.
âJust wanted to see you, I guess.â Jackie says, letting her hand drop as you sit up and scoot backwards against the headboard. âI feel like we havenât seriously talked in a while,â Jackie admits, looking sad.
âWhat should we talk about, Jackie?â
She sighs quietly. âI donât know, Y/N. I just feel like youâve been pulling away from me lately and I donât know why.â
You look down, avoiding eye contact. âIâve just been busy. Pinky promise.â You say, holding your pinky out playfully.
She reaches forward and links her pinky with yours. âA pinky promise? You must be really serious.â
You talk for a while about what's been going on in your lives before she suddenly grabs your hands excitedly. âY/N!â She admonishes playfully, âHe was totally flirting with you.â Your face falls and you start fiddling with her fingers anxiously. She tenses a bit as she watches you. âWhatâs wrong?â
âI⊠Iâm gay, Jackie.â You say, âI thought you knew that.â She tilts her head in confusion, an unreadable expression on her face.
âSince when?â She asks.
You laugh disbelievingly. âThe entire time, Jackie. You met my ex-girlfriend several times.â At her continued confusion you add âBeth, remember?â
Her eyebrows furrow in thought. âYou were dating Beth?â She mutters under her breath. âYou guys didnât act any differently than me and Shauna do, though. I thought you were trying to replace me as your best friend.â You snicker at her and she gently smacks her hand against your shoulder in admonishment.
âDonât make fun of me!â She whines, before looking at you seriously. âHow did you know you were gay?â Jackie asks.
âI donât know,â You say thoughtfully. âI kind of always knew, I guess? One day I just realized that other girls actually care about boys and donât just pretend to.â You laugh quietly and add, âI used to pick random boys to crush on. I thought everyone did it.âÂ
Jackie stiffens so imperceptibly that you donât even notice. She smiles stiffly and says âIâm glad you told me. Even if you apparently forgot.â
âI thought you knew!â You defend weakly.
âSure,â She draws out playfully. âI know how you can make it up to me,â She says, lying back against the bed and tugging on your hand. You shift down the bed and lie on your side facing her.
âI want to sleep in here with you tonight. Like we used to.â She says, flipping over to lie facing away from you. Tentatively you lie your hand over her and pull her closer. She settles happily in your arms.
âYouâre marrying Jeff in a few days, donât you want to be spending time with him instead?â You ask softly against her ear.
She hums dismissively and laces your fingers together, pulling your arm tighter around her. âIâm spending the rest of my life with him,â She says unenthusiastically, âHeâll be fine for a few days.â
âYou donât seem that excited about it.â You say carefully. She doesnât answer immediately, and for a while you think she fell asleep. âHeâs Jeff.â She says finally, as if that ends the conversation. You decide youâll let her, and drift gently off to sleep.
âŠ
Itâs the day before the wedding and you're getting dinner with Jackie, her parents, Jeff, Shauna, and some of her other bridesmaids. You knew one of them from college, but the other youâve never met before. You think sheâs one of her friends from her soccer team, but youâre not sure. You hadnât really had the chance to find out one way or another. The Taylors have a way of making everything in Jackieâs life about them. They havenât stopped talking long enough for anyone else to make an attempt at conversation
You smile politely, trying not to let on that you're dying inside. âDonât you think you should have made us dinner, dear?â Mrs Taylor interjects snidely, âImagine how embarrassing it would be for poor Jeff if he had a wife that couldnât cook.â Jackie stiffens as the smile falls off her face. You hold your drink with a white knuckled grip and turn to speak to her. âYouâre probably right,â Jackie says, catching your gaze and subtly shaking her head. Youâll let it go for her sake, but you're still pretty tense.
Suddenly you feel Jackieâs foot at your ankle, creeping up your leg. You take a sip of your drink to hide your reaction, stifling a smile around your straw. You nudge her back gently and stop paying attention to the conversation for a while as you play footsie under the table.Â
You're shocked suddenly when Shauna elbows you under the table. âWhat?â You ask her sharply. Mrs Taylor gives you a condescending look.Â
âI asked if you were bringing a date to the wedding, Y/N?â She asks.Â
âOh, uhm no. Iâm not.â You answer.Â
She shares a knowing look with her husband and murmurs âSee, I told you she was one of thoseâŠâ quietly enough that she thinks you canât hear her. You scoff quietly, shifting uncomfortably in your seat.
âOne of what, mom?â Jackie asks sharply, smiling tensely. Mrs Taylor visibly startles.
âOh, just⊠One of those feminist types that donât want a man.â She lies unconvincingly, the shock of being called out obvious. Jackie grins dangerously at her, like a shark thatâs smelled blood in the water.
You canât look away from her. Have her teeth always looked this sharp? You wonder. Youâve never been on the other side of this Jackie, and you hope you never will be. Still, itâs one of your favorite versions of her. This is Jackie defending someone that she loves, even though she rarely defends herself.
âReally?â She asks softly, âIt sounded like you were implying something else.â Shauna lifts her drink to her mouth to hide her grin, watching intently. Seems that sheâs been waiting for the Taylorâs to get whatâs coming to them for a while. Jeff looks between the two of them looking confused, but ultimately decides itâs none of his business as he returns to eating his dinner.
Mr Taylor lays a hand on Mrs Taylors arm and smiles stiffly at Jackie. âIâm sure,â He starts, âThat your mother wasnât trying to apply anything untoward, Jackie.â Jackie relaxes back in her seat, obviously content with her parents backing down. She turns to look at her mother.Â
âCould you pass the water pitcher?â She asks sweetly, as if nothing had happened.
You catch her arm outside the restaurant later as she goes to leave with Jeff. âCould I talk to you real quick?â You ask. She looks back at Jeff who shrugs and walks over to lean against his car. âI just wanted to say thank you. For earlier.â You say.
âOh, with my parents? It was nothing.â She says.
âIt wasnât nothing, Jackie. I know how much your parents' approval means to you.â You admit. âIt really meant a lot to me that youâd risk it to stick up for me.â
âOf course Iâd stick up for you,â She says obviously, as if the idea of acting otherwise never even crossed her mind. âYou're myâŠâ She trails off unsurely. She worries her lip between her teeth for a second before continuing quietly. âYouâre my Y/N.â
âYour Y/N?â You ask playfully.
âYep,â She confirms, popping the p. Jeff sighs audibly behind you. She glances back at him before saying âIâd better get going, then. Iâll see you tomorrow.â
âIâll look for the prettiest girl in white there,â You whisper conspiratorially. She looks down to hide her blush, but you know her far too well. She turns to walk away before quickly stepping back towards you. You stand there frozen as she stands on the tips of her toes and gently presses a kiss against your cheek, before hurrying back to Jeff.
You watch as she turns and gets in the car, making eye contact with you until Jeff finally turns out of the parking lot. You watch the car go down the street and out of view. Then you just stare at nothing. One more day. You think. One more day until itâs over. One more day until you lose her forever.
âŠ
You glance over at the clock curiously. The corners of your lips quirk up, but you try hard to suppress a smile. Jackieâs never been the most punctual of people, You think, But I never thought sheâd be late to her own wedding.
You imagine the look on her face if you said that to her. Fashionably Late, Y/N. Sheâd chide. Besides, Iâm worth the wait arenât I? You can practically see the smug little grin sheâd be wearing. You're lost in thought for a moment until you notice Shauna motioning to you out of the corner of your eye.
Your eyes snap to her and she motions you towards her. You step out of line with the other bridesmaids and walk after her curiously. When youâre both out of view she leans against the wall and pinches the bridge of her nose between two fingers, sighing exhaustedly. âJackie wants you,â She says.
âWant me for what?â You ask. What could she possibly need you for five minutes past the time she was supposed to walk down the aisle? You wonder.
âWhy donât you go ask her? Iâm not the messenger, Y/Nâ She says. You hold your hands up placatingly before walking off to Jackieâs room. You knock three times on the door but she doesnât answer. You hesitate for a second, glancing back at Shauna who waves dismissively at you. You slowly open the door and see Jackie in her wedding dress crying on the window seat.
The sight stops you in your tracks. You hadnât seen Jackieâs wedding dress as she insisted on it being a surprise. âYouâre a vision,â You breathe out in awe. You canât take your eyes off of her. Youâve always thought she was the most beautiful woman youâd ever seen but this⊠This was something else entirely.
She huffs a laugh as she looks up at you through teary eyes. âI probably look like a mess,â She says dismissively.
âI donât think you could ever look like a mess,â You admit as you sit next to her. She watches you for a long moment as she tries to discern whether you're telling the truth or not. She leans forward quickly and kisses you desperately. You're frozen with shock and she seems to take this the wrong way as she pulls back and starts babbling apologies.Â
You lay a calming hand on her shoulder, and lean down to kiss her again. âNo, I was just surprised. WhatâŠâ You hesitate. âWhat about Jeff, Jackie?â You startle as she starts crying even harder.
"I don't want to marry Jeff!" Jackie sobs out. You groan loudly and she looks up at you through tears.Â
"Hey, hey no it's okay," You console as you wrap your arms around her. "You couldn't have made this decision while we were still in the car, though?"Â
She laughs wetly as she buries her head in your neck. "Do you think you can run in your wedding dress?" You ask.Â
She pulls away to look at you wide eyed. "No. Not without falling." You hum in acknowledgement and shift Jackie in your arms to get a better grip on her.Â
"We'd better get going then. Your dad is still waiting down the hall to walk you down the aisle." You say.Â
She looks shocked. "You're coming with me?" She asks quietly. You laugh softly.Â
"You can't drive, Jackie. Were you planning on being a walk away bride?" You tease. She blushes, turning her face away. You stand up with Jackie still in your arms and she screeches in shock as she grabs onto you.Â
You start walking her towards the door when Shauna storms in, obviously hearing Jackie. She looks at the both of you confused. "Jackie forgot her running shoes," You say wryly.Â
Shauna's face lights up and she grins. "You're leaving Jeff at the altar?" She asks Jackie.Â
Jackie pulls her engagement ring off and holds it out for Shauna. "Will you tell him for me?" She asks softly.Â
Shauna nods and reaches forward to grab the ring. "It's my duty as maid of honor. Of course I will." Shauna says, amused.Â
You start walking hurriedly towards the exit when you hear Shauna mutter "And my pleasure," as she gleefully marches off towards the ceremony.Â
You set Jackie back on her feet as you reach your car and unlock the doors. You start the car just in time as Jackie's parents come storming out of the church screaming at her to get back. She looks at you wide eyed and you raise an eyebrow in question.Â
"Drive!" She yells gleefully. You pull out fast enough to squeal the tires as you zoom down the road and away. She leans back against the seat and laughs hysterically, her once perfectly pinned hair wild and unkempt. You sneak a glance at her out of the corner of your eye, shaking your head softly with a grin on your face.
âŠ
3 Months Later
You climb up the bed and settle on top of Jackie, burying your head in her neck.Â
"God," Jackie says, shifting under you to get comfortable. "I'm exhausted."
You barely resist the urge to laugh, settling instead on the most charming smile you can muster. You donât think it works all that well.
"What's so funny?" Jackie says, pouting at you.Â
You reach for her arm and press a gentle kiss against her hand . She grins softly at you and links your fingers together. "I just think that it's a little funny," You start, holding your thumb and your index finger barely apart. "That you're so exhausted, whenâŠ" You press another kiss to her hand.
"When⊠What?" She asks softly, smiling so hard that it looks like it hurts. You tighten your grip on her hand.Â
"When you didn't really do anything." You whisper playfully. She scoffs and pushes weakly at your shoulders to get you off of her.Â
"I did things," She whines, pouting pitifully at you.Â
"Yeah?" You tease. She nods seriously.
"It's hard being the main event. You wouldn't understand."
"You're right," You say. "I guess I don't understand the difficulty of lying on your back and looking pretty."
She blushes and tugs gently on your hair in warning. "My talents are always under-appreciated." She agrees playfully.Â
You huff a laugh into her neck and settle your full weight on top of her. She fakes a pained groan, but presses a kiss into your hairline anyway.
"O'course, princess. Whatever you say, beautiful." You murmur sleepily.
Bruce is a father at heart, underneath all the layers of pain and lies is a soft man. He can't show it, it's weakness. He wants to be strong for all his babies that have been through so much.
He believes everyone deserves a break, except for him. He believes that hiding your emotions in unhealthy and stupid, but not when he does it. And since it's been so long, so long, since his last crack in the facade he thinks he's okay. Convincing people for so long, he managed to convince himself. Bruce thinks he really is okay, even with the constant paranoia and jolts of pain in his body. Ther was no denying he was aging, his body was no longer as fast as it was used to, but that's fine!
It's fine.
He is fine.
And he's a fine Dad! Sure he's not the best when it comes to communicating...and he may not be the most understanding Dad, but no knes perfect. Parenting comes with challenges, especially when it comes to his kids. But he loves them all!
He thinks he's doing well, and he has. Dick has become a good young man, a cop. Jason's is...more himself, he's reaching out more. Cass has picked up hobbies, made friends, plus her ballet is amazing! Duke makes the Manor more lively, especially with his parents getting better. And Damian...wants to be a doctor.
His kids are moving on with their lives, his youngest deciding to move away from crime fighting as a whole. Sure, Bruce will miss him when patrols get cold but he couldn't be more proud. Of all of them
But deep into night's, especially where its the quiet ones when every light is off and eyes shut, his head starts to hurt. He feels his shoulders drop and his chest tighten. The guilt crashes on to him like some inevitable curse.
If he is a good dad, then why wasn't he one before?
He opens up a box with shaky hands and prays no one is watching him. His fingers linger over the pictures scattered inside, he was a good dad.
But not to you, not to his first.
The child's eyes became dimer and dimer as they aged in the photos, and it was all his fault. At some point, they're just a blur in the background. There was something so...pitiful with the way he just stared at the polaroids. Trying, and failing, to remember your voice.
He didn't have a breaking point, not until you left.
That's why when he hears a name too close to yours his shoulders tense, more than they already are, and his throught goes dry. When someone runs by, their hair the same shade as yours, no one can make him smile for the rest of the day. Not Selina, not Alfred, no one.
And when he looks into a mirror after a bad fight, all he can see is his baby. Sometimes, looking at Damians resting face, he'll get choked up.
How would he react? How would the rest of them react
When the pictures, drawings, cards, when they all reach an end and his face is sticky with tears, he'll curse himself until he sleeps. He'll have nightmares of your angered words, the night you left, the night where the letters stopped.
It was too late.
request for @aestheticllylosers my power just went out the other day at my house so i was wondering if i could have batfamily, plus maybe Selina Kyle trying to entertain a scared little bat baby (age three) through a blackout and storm. very flufflyâŠ. _____________
The whole family was gathered in the living room preparing ways to entertain themselves in an attempt to drown out the storm, sadly living with tech geniuses and a billionaire father does not help keep the power on, in fact youâve all been sitting in the dark for about an hour whilst Alfred went around lighting candles, that being said their attempts of having fun during a thunderstorm only did the bare minimum when it came to distracting you and due to the loud crashes outside you had your head buried in your dadâs chest for half of it anyways so you couldnât even pay attention to it.Â
Your family were at a loss, they didnât know how to make this situation any more comfortable for you, even your mother Selina attempted to take you upstairs and distract you with your toys but you ran down the stairs screaming as soon as you saw a flash of lightning outside your window. Bruce was thinking about calling Diana to see if she could tell you an old story about the Gods because you always enjoyed those but given the situation the cell towers were down so he had no way of getting through to her, but he figured he could help you all on his own, almost on his own, your brothers were also in panic mode trying to find ways to calm their little sister down.Â
Dick attempted books, cooking and even some old board games he found in his room but nothing seemed to keep your attention for too long before you were back whimpering in your dadâs arms. Tim thought hide and seek was a good idea but it was ruled out because he joked about the manor ghosts finding you first and you started bawling your eyes out, Damian attempted to fight the lightning as a way to make you laugh but he slipped in the mud outside and that made you think that the lightning was attacking people so that took a whole 2 hour conversation from your dad to try to explain to you that lightning canât push people over and Damian is just clumsy, he scoffed at that but a pointed look from his father got him to play along with the story. Jason, well he tried but ultimately gave up and tagged Alfred in, itâs not that he didnât want you to feel safe itâs just he had one idea since the fighting lightning joke was taken by the demon spawn as he likes to call him, heâs also came to the conclusion that Damian can read his mind when in actuality he just found the piece of paper that Jason used to write his two ideas down with.
____________
âwhat are we gonna do?â Dick asked looking around the kitchen at all the baffled faces of his family, Selina was laying with you in the other room trying to put you down for a nap but from the sound of your little cries it wasnât working.
âwell we could-â ânoâ Jason said cutting Damian off âtt you didnât even let me say it Toddâ âwe already know itâs sh*t stop wasting timeâ âJasonâ Bruce said in a warning tone, âthereâs a generator in the cave if we go down there and get it working we can put a movie on for y/n to help herâ Bruce said and looked up to everyone staring at him in disbelief,âwait so your telling me we could have had power this WHOLE TIMEâ Tim yelled , Bruce sighed, âI just wanted to spend time with you all, your sister has been asking for you and with your jobs you hardly get to see her, I just thought that if i forced us all together with no technology to distract you that youâd end up enjoying it a bitâ when he finished talking Alfred smiled to himself, when the storm alert first hit the news his master told him to turn the generator off and tell everyone to come home, he knew Bruce missed them but would never admit it out loud so he just went along with it, the truth is he needed this time with his family just as much as the rest of them and secretly didnât want the generator on but if it helped miss y/n he was open to trying. âwow, I didnât think iâd ever hear you admit to wanting us here out loud, like iâve heard you say it in so many dreams but real life? iâm shockedâ Jason said jokingly â you know thatâs all you needed to say right? keep it offâ Dick said smiling âbut-â Tim tried to object but got a warning nudge from Damian who would never admit it but this has been one of the best days of his life.
____________
Once they got back into the living room Selina looked up at Alfred and the two smiled knowingly at each other, and you slowly lifted your head up to look at your family walking back in âthe storms calmed down sweetie do you want to try play a game again?â your mother asked you and you tilted your head to look up at her and then to your dad again âokwayâ you said sniffling as you crawled off your momâs lap and down to the floor with your brothers.
Bruce sat with Selina and put his arm around her pulling her close to him and watched his kids actually get along to play a game of monopoly, and slyly wished for more storms in the future.

Most fucked up thing i ever drew...
can you please write about tmasc nat and tfem r having their first time and it's all so sweet and giggly? Thank you!!!
you and nat both smile cheesily at each other as you lie him down, and you lick your lips nervously, staring into his blue-green eyes and getting lost in them.
your face is so red. you can practically feel it burning up. "are you...is this okay?" you ask, your thumb swiping over his naked shoulder to comfort your nerves.
he nods and stifles a giggle that makes you frown. "it's okay. you can touch more than just my shoulder, don't be so scared."
you lean down and nip his cheek, trailing tiny kisses down to his neck as you grumble. "don't act like you're not just as nervous." you lean back up to look at him, his face flushed from your kisses. your face gets serious, and you feel the sudden urge to spill the three words you've been meaning to tell him for weeks now. "i...should i...?"
looking down with a shy smile, you nod to your hard cock, which aches to feel nat's insides. he whispers a small "yes," and you kiss him for a long while, both of you getting lost in the feeling of each other. each time you mean to pull away, you can't. it's like you're being pulled back to his lips, both by his hands and because of the trance you're in.
nat moans when he feels your cock twitch on his stomach, and he's suddenly aware of the warm, wet mess you've made. he moves his hands from your back to his stomach where you're subtly grinding your cock against, and he grabs it. he grins into your lips as you whine, and he leans his head back against the pillow to watch how your face scrunches as he slowly strokes.
"pretty cock." he mumbles to himself, but you catch it and blush. to mess with him, you flick his t-dick and take in his whimper with a grin.
"you have a nice one yourself."
you grab his hand by the wrist and bring it to your mouth, locking eyes with him as you clean your pre-cum from it, eyes fluttering shut as you taste yourself.
after, you kiss him a few more times before moving him around, getting him in place and comfortable before lining up your cock with his hole.
"ready?" you ask, gently stroking yourself and bumping your tip with his enlarged clit.
he bites his lip and lets out a shaky "yes, 'm ready." his hands move to grip the bedsheets in anticipation.
"are you sure?" you ask again, wanting to make sure he's absolutely sure. once he nods and reassures you that, yes, he is ready, you grip your cock and slowly rub your tip around his entrance, eyes locked in on his face for any sign of discomfort.
nat's mouth opens in a silent moan as you sink in, his eyes fluttering shut the more he feels you inside of him. "oh, god, fuck." he lets out, trapping his left leg around your waist. "feels...s'good."
"yeah?" you pant, finding it hard to keep your own cool as nat clenches around you. once you're inside far enough, you set both hands by his head and lean down to give him kisses the more you sink in, letting him get adjusted.
his right leg follows his left and wraps around your waist to push you all the way in, and you let out a pathetic groan as you basically collapse on top of him.
"god, i love you." you babble, whimpering into his neck as you move your hips.
nat's hands claw at your back and he feels his entire body burst into flames at your confession. he tries to open his mouth to say "i love you, too" but the way you snap your hips into his has his brain all mushy.
I don't know if you write for Jackie but she's so pookie so Imma send it
Imagine like, loser!Jackie having the biggest crush on the reader and just being a mess trying to be confident around them to impress them, but just failing at that (reader is obviously endeared with this type of behaviour from Jackie)

housewife jackie with a butch reader thoughts?
loves dressing up for you... ive said this in probably every housewife jackie thought but it's true!! even if it's just her grabbing your shirt to put on for a lazy afternoon, she loves watching your eyes light up in recognition and when you compliment how good she looks ^^ likes the simple act of dressing up for a date. likes how you guys end up matching sometimes even when it wasn't planned. loves helping you get dressed, she's always got a gummy smile on her face as she buttons your shirt or ties your tie or smooths out your jacket that she steals at the end of the night.
jackie who loves when you get in touch with your feminine side in your own way :( you help her get in touch with her masculine side and it's just a great bonding experience đ
she's a.....i dont even know what texter. not a double texter, not a triple texter, but a hundred texter. literally sends you so many texts throughout the day of random things like what she's doing or how much she misses you or selfies of her hand with new rings on it cause she's shopping đ you love it. it can get annoying when ur at work and keep getting out ur phone every 5 seconds because she's such a fast responder (only for you), but she makes you smile so much.
running your hands through jackie's hair as you give her a hot bath, taking care of her after she took care of you. gently scrubbing her body and massaging her legs because she was on her feet all day (so were you, but this is your girl! she deserves it more.
shy!butch!reader who appreciates when jackie talks for them in public :) always walking into shops first so you're not the center of attention, always being the one to ask questions to the clerk, always holding your hand and gently telling you to lead the way, or even leading it for you. butch with anxiety who always needs to talk with jackie before a phone call, going over what to say, and jackie who reassures you that it's gonna be fine, and even offers to write down prompts or something in case you forget what to say :(
possessive!jackie and butch who's awkward with affection :) she's always tugging you closer in public. she's the femme who hugs you from behind and places kisses on your ear in checkout lanes... she loves how you tense up and flush when she grabs your hand, loves how you can barely make eye contact with her when she's close to your face and kisses you, loves how you're so awkward when trying to show her how much you love her but you can't get the words out because she's so pretty and you just don't know what to say. it's worse in public because she thinks everyone wants you... she needs your eyes on HERS, and will use her finger to move your chin so you're facing her instead of left (ur just nervous đ). she's always playin' footsie under tables and reaching across said table to rub your arm as you guys eat together. i think her favorite thing is when she verbally gets possessive and says some shit that makes you snort or choke on your food/drink.

Jenna is squirming in the car, screaming at her friend to drive faster so she can eat.Â
âIâve been on set since 6 fucking AM! Itâs been 10 hours and Iâm hungry! I skipped breakfast for this damn shit! What the hell do you mean you canât get a burrito right now? All I want is a damn burrito and youâre telling me that we have to pick up Y/N, our friend, and first buy the book you wanted because itâs closer? CLOSER?â She screams, gripping her knuckles that were already white enough.
Jacob, one of Jennaâs friends laughs hard, a little threatened but not enough to be stopped. âItâll only take 15 minutes at most! Itâs more convenient, the bookstore is along the way and closer to our location, then we can just buy any burrito you want aft-âÂ
âCLOSER? YOU KNOW WHATâS CLOSER?â Jenna throws her arms up in dramatic effect, huffing, âMe going insane! My sanity is at 10% right now, and if I donât get my burrito this instant, Iâm going to crash this car and fucking run to the nearest place that has a burrito. DONâT touch me!â She yells, smacking her friend's arm away because she cannot think properly at this moment.
âIâm STARVING, and Iâm a woman who needs food to survive in this film ECONOMY! Canât you drive any faster?-"
Jenna suddenly hears your voice outside from the slightly opened car window. She peeks her eyes out, her hands holding the glass. She suddenly sees you, looking sweet, happy, and perfectly sane as you come out of your driveway. âHi, Jenna!â You exclaim, completely unaware that she was just ballistic for a burrito 5 seconds ago.
Her frustrated demeanor melts off suddenly, a goofy grin on her face as she sees just how happy you are. She brings her hand up, waving. âHi!â
She just forgot how hungry she was and the person she just was less than a minute ago. Why was she so upset that she had to wait longer so Jacob could pick you up? She stopped feeling the need to bang her head on the nearest wall.Â
âJacob was telling me that you had a long time on set, something about how I had to save him because you were going crazy, so I got you some snacks.â You pull out a bag filled with goodies from your pantry.
The man that was driving stuttered as Jenna slowly turned to him, âI did not say it like that.â
âOh yeah?â You ask, grabbing your phone and swiping and squinting. âIt says here, âPlease save me from this woman, sheâs acting like a toddler that just shit her pants. SOS, crying crying emoji..â Um, oh and here. âThis girl is so dramatic, complaining about not getting her burrito, she's wailing in the back seat. Please save her.â Donât lie to me.â You state with a grin as Jenna munches on chips.
He rolls his eyes, grumbling.Â
Jenna interrupts, âOkay, Jacob, you traitor.â
âYou cannot be talking, slapping my arm away when I try to calm you down but Y/N being some sort of angel and making you all cuddly.â
The fuming brunette slowly turns back to normal as you slither your arm around hers, laying your head on her shoulder. âGlad to know you love me. How was filming without me?â
Jenna sniffs, letting you ruffle her hair, âOne of the directors was trying to show us how the scene should play out, the popcorn in the microwave caught on fire.â
You nod, awkwardly as you look around. âWas it your popcorn?â You guess.
She huffs and sinks into you, âYes, and now I'm starving."
-
Aliyah is losing her mind. First, her father was fixing the doorbell, and now it seems to be ringing on its own. Now, her older sister wonât cooperate as she tries to steady Jennaâs legs that are in the air. The brunette shrieks, causing Aliyah to pull away and make her tumble.
Aliyah groans, âThis is the thirteenth time already! Let me make this clear, you asked me to help you do this random one handed handstand, but you wonât let me even touch you so I can get you into the right pose? Youâre so weird.âÂ
Jenna shrugs, her head on the floor as she hangs upside down from the couch. âI am letting you touch me!â
âNo you arenât! You start shrieking and then falling face flat when I do! How the hell are we going to make this work if you wonât cooperate?â
The two siblings hear some shuffling as you crawl through the dog door, fitting yourself in. They blink, staring at you as you wiggle yourself through and throw a hand in the air, showing that you brought food. âBurritos!â
âY/N! What are you doing? Go through the back door you doofus! You couldâve just knocked!â
You finally manage to squirm your way in as you stand up, brushing some leaves off of you and throwing them into the trash. You flip your hair, crawling through doggy doors were one of your talents. You signal her Jenna to hear you out as you put up a finger, âFirst of all, I was ringing the doorbell like, five thousand times, then I knocked, and no one was answering! Iâm not letting the food get cold.â You pause, looking at Jenna who is currently staring at you upside down and hanging from the couch. âWhat on earth are you doing?â
âTrying to do a one handed handstand.âÂ
âOh, wait. Oh! I know how to do that!â Happily, you hand her sister the bag with burritos and tacos, before collapsing to the floor.
There was awkward silence as Jenna and Aliyah stared at each other, âUm..â
Jenna always knew you as the silly girl across the block. Even after 5 years of friendship, she thinks youâve just gotten sillier.
âThat wasnât it, I havenât done it in a year. Hold on.â You position yourself, slowly doing a handstand. Jenna can see your shirt slowly rising up and showing your stomach as you keep yourself steady. You lift an arm off and hang it up. âDid I do it?â
Jenna giggles and flops down the couch. âYeah. I think so.â She crawls behind you and picks up your body that was upside down.
âHey!â
-
âOkay, slow and steady..â You say softly, squinting and holding Jennaâs legs, making sure she was in the right position. âAliyah, try steadying her while she puts one arm up.â
âNo way, nope.â She argues, eating her taco, âShe literally kept shrieking when I tried to and starting kicking and squirming.â
âSheâs not shrieking right now?â
âWell youâre just different I guess, youâre her best friend, so..â
You raise your eyebrows, a smile tugging on your lips as you tickle Jenna and make her fall on you. âYou just love me, donât you!?â You giggle, hugging her as she squeals and nuzzles against you.

It was late in the evening as you got changed into pajamas and flopped onto your bed. Nights like this always felt better, where you would switch on a show, read a book, or call friends. You decide to check some emails, looking over some asking for you to star in movies, replying to companies that want you as their ambassador, you click out of the tab.Â
A small ding sounds on your phone as you see that Emma had texted you.Â

Fans say that theyâve picked up on the actressâs behavior, scooting away from castmates whoâve gotten too close during interviews and only staying close to one or two close ones. Not that sheâs uncomfortable, taken from the way she seems unfazed most times. But, it is noticed that she seems like a bundle of happiness with individuals. A clip right here shows her with a fellow castmate, Y/N L/N, both starred in the famous series, Wednesday. It is caught on how Ortega was silently making sure that her friend was okay during an interview that had turned a little more uncomfortable for the other girl, squeezing her hand and clinging onto her. It seemed to have worked, for how the girl began to relax. What a friendship they have!
The tiny moments of comfort and physical touch occur in other interviews too, as well as cute Instagram comments on each other's posts that come off as playful flirting. Some comments are pasted here.
Jenna Ortega commenting on Y/Nâs post of a photoshoot press for Wednesday last year in September:
jennaortega: Thatâs my girl
Another one on a post of the girl just doing an Instagram photo dump this year in March:
jennaortega: if you squint closely you can see me doing the dishes for my wife in the third photo

You smile, looking away from your laptop as you kick your feet. You do feel like Jenna had a soft spot for you, she always hugged you first, tried picking you up, falling asleep with each other on set. But she was just your best friend, you would all say to interviewers.
The door slightly creaks as you turn, smiling. âHey baby, I think you should see this.â
Jenna flops on the bed with you, letting you cuddle her as she kisses you and reads your screen, a goofy grin on her face.
âI guess they caught on that we might be more than friends. I mean, it's not a lie that we are best friends, girlfriends is just a small little detail."
âCute and absolute.â
