Toxic people who are in denial love associating themselves with people who make them feel comfortable with their dysfunctional ways. Thats why I have the most respect for those who acknowledged their toxic behaviour and recovered/ changed. Not only are they mentally aware of the problem and value their future more than the discomfort of change, but they don't want to be a source of pain for others either.
