I Would KILL To Read TSH From Bunny’s POV. It Would Make For The Perfect Greek Tragedy And A Killer

I would KILL to read TSH from Bunny’s POV. It would make for the perfect Greek tragedy and a killer thriller. Imagine reading his descent into insanity and paranoia. Imagine Italy from his perspective; his secret, almost sinful confessions to Julian; his pillow talks with Marion. I want to feel Henry’s betrayal and Bunny’s unease. I would eat that shit UP

My small analysis about The Secret History, and the way it seems to fall in the absurdism:

Through the whole book, we have these little details, characters and else that break the classic (and very structured) rules of writing. In literature, it is known that every character and every interaction is forced to have a weight on the narrative, however, in the book we find characters that are there or things that happen just because. The person following Bunny and Henry on their trip, or the character that lied about seeing something the day of Bunny's murder.

Now, this is only in the way the book is structured, however, if we look closely, we find the perfect example of why this falls in the absurdism. You see, Camus was a firm believer that things don't have to happen for a reason, that nothing matters because at the end, we all are going to die, and that it doesn't matter what we do.

Henry (and I would say Camilla and maybe even Francis) follows this idea after the bacchanal. It is the result of the bacchanal.

The murder, which is a mere concept that fall in the category of terror by humans, is an act of destruction, one of the worst transgressions (if not considered the worse one). Death is only allowed if it happens because of some sort of destiny, divinity or deity, death is a transgression for humans, the thin line. When they murdered the farmer, they crossed this line, clearly, the main strenght in this, is Henry.

When he's the main responsable of this death, he crossed the line. And then, he got away with it. So, this bringed in him the idea that, actually, nothing matters. Nothing matters because he alredy killed someone, and nothing changed. He still got up, got to study, got to live as he wants.

He described that he often felt like life was meaningless and bland, but after killing someone, he noticed that life is actually meaningless, yet, this as well means he could do whatever he wished.

That's why he could kill Bunny, that's why he decided he wanted to be closer to Camilla, play around with poisoning. Henry realized that if life was empty on its own, he could do as he pleased, because there's nothing stopping him.

The Secret History set in the modern day and everything is the same except Francis has no less than four strawberry ice vapes on his person at all times

I have a theory about what Henry whispered in Camilla's ear before he killed himself.

Among other things, in the first lesson with Julian, he recounts a story about Tiberius:

Think, for example of Tiberius, the ugly stepson, trying to live up to the command of his stepfather Augustus. Think of the tremendous, impossible strain he must have undergone, following in the footsteps of a saviour, a god. The people hated him. No matter how hard he tried he was never good enough, could never be rid of the hateful self, and finally the floodgates broke. He was swept away on his perversions and he died, old and mad, lost in the pleasure gardens of Capri: not even happy there, as one might hope, but miserable. Before he died he wrote a letter home to the Senate. "May all the Gods and Goddesses visit me with more utter destruction than I feel I am daily suffering."

And that is what I think he whispered to Camilla, seeing as the story of Tiberius kind of mirrors Henry's.

“Is somebody gonna match my freak?” Is basically the dynamic of the Greek class, no?

i love every character in the secret history. they're all freaks. they're all alcoholics. they're snobs. they deserve nothing but the worst. i adore them. i want to study them as if i were a mad ornithologist and they were rare, cantankerous, bastard birds.

Really powerful to me that truly Richard is closer to every Greek student besides Camilla despite his fixation on her—and in the end, the thing he has most in common with her is that they both were in love with Henry

why you’re wrong about quitting shifting

so, you’re ready to give up on reality shifting? let me get this straight—you’re throwing in the towel because it’s “too hard” or because you haven’t succeeded yet? honestly, that’s not a reflection of the practice; it’s a reflection of your mindset. i’m not here to sugarcoat it for you. this whole “i can’t shift” narrative is not only false—it’s lazy. let’s dismantle this flawed thinking piece by piece.

1. “i can’t shift.” wrong. you haven’t shifted yet. stop acting like you’re hardwired to fail because you’re not. stop convincing yourself that it’s impossible when it’s more likely you just haven’t given it the time and effort it deserves. imagine trying to start a fire with two sticks. most people wouldn’t get a spark on the first try. does that mean fire is a myth or that they’re incapable? no—it means they need better technique, more patience, and consistent effort. shifting is your fire. just because you haven’t seen the flames yet doesn’t mean they’re not coming. every moment you’ve spent trying has been building heat; quitting now ensures you’ll never see the light.

2. your impatience is not proof of impossibility. let’s be real: you’re expecting results on your timeline, and when it doesn’t happen, you declare shifting a failure. that’s not logic—that’s entitlement. imagine planting a tree and stomping on the roots because it didn’t grow tall overnight. that’s essentially what you’re doing. you have no idea how close you might be to success because you’re too focused on the absence of instant gratification.

3. you’re underestimating your brain. your mind is adaptable, but it needs consistency to form new pathways. reality shifting involves rewiring your entire perception of existence—it’s not something you’ll master just by wishing for it. the tools—meditation, affirmations, visualization—aren’t magic tricks; they’re exercises for your subconscious. if you quit now, you’re not only rejecting shifting but also your brain’s potential to grow.

4. your perspective on “failure” is flawed. let’s get one thing straight: failure isn’t the lack of success; it’s the decision to stop trying. every attempt you’ve made so far has laid the groundwork for future breakthroughs. you think those hours scripting or visualizing are wasted? they’re not. every time you try, you’re training your mind to align with your desired reality. quitting means throwing all that progress away.

5. you’re putting shifting on a pedestal. you’re treating it like some mystical, unattainable miracle instead of what it really is: a practice. people have been shifting, lucid dreaming, astral projecting, and training their minds for centuries. the only difference is that they stuck with it. if they can do it, why not you? what makes you the exception? the truth is, you’re not.

here’s the thing: the act of giving up is far more definitive than the idea that you “can’t shift.” quitting guarantees failure, while continuing guarantees possibility. do you really want to shut the door on that possibility just because it didn’t happen on your schedule?

the bottom line is this: shifting is as much about discipline as it is about desire. your current mindset isn’t just dismissing the practice; it’s dismissing your own potential. so, stop wallowing in disappointment and start recognizing that you’re not stuck—you’re learning. if you can’t handle that reality, then maybe shifting isn’t the problem.
