Wonderful sunset
The above photo is German athlete Luz Long and American athlete Jesse Owens at the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin, Germany–who formed an unlikely friendship that continued beyond the Olympics.
In Long’s final letter to Owens, written soon before Long died during the invasion of Italy, he wrote (as found on Letters of Note):
I am here, Jesse, where it seems there is only the dry sand and the wet blood. I do not fear so much for myself, my friend Jesse, I fear for my woman who is home, and my young son Karl, who has never really known his father. My heart tells me, if I be honest with you, that this is the last letter I shall ever write. If it is so, I ask you something. It is a something so very important to me. It is you go to Germany when this war done, someday find my Karl, and tell him about his father. Tell him, Jesse, what times were like when we not separated by war. I am saying—tell him how things can be between men on this earth.
Years later, Jesse Owens became friends with and served as the best man to Luz’s son Karl in his wedding.
Damn.

Ready for Zenit and Lubitel photo shoot
1 roll of Ilford Pan F Plus 35mm with 36 exposure and 3 rolls of Ilford Pan F Plus 120 to have 36 exposure as well.
Really excited to see the comparison of the two systems 🤗
Preparing to compare my 35mm and medium format camera using Ilford Pan F Plus film. I will buy 2 more rolls of the 120 so I have 36 exposure with both camera
My first ever medium format camera, Lubitel 166B! For years I have used only 35mm camera; Nikon FM, Nikkorex F, Sigma SA7n, Yashica J and Zenit twins 122 and 12XL. All of which are awesome cameras, by the way. I'm super excited to start using this camera for better quality pictures that "pop" and are a bigger field of view. I just need to decide which 120 film to use...any suggestions?
Well done my beautiful precious daughter 😘

This is the most unique Dr Grabow Omega I have ever seen! Dr Grabow Omega is probably my most favorite pipe, next to a genuine calabash pipe. I have several of them...they are very fancy, not too expensive, easy to clean and maintain and they perform very well! This Dr Grabow Omega, has the most unique carving I have ever seen. Carvings on the rim of the bowl and even on the shank just below the metal tenon. Because of it's beautiful uniqueness, I don't smoke it too often.
Relaxing with Dunhill My Mixture 965 in my Dr. Grabow Omega after a long day at work. A wonderful English blend, very well balanced and enjoyable.
The Last of The Breed
Vandoren has discontinued production of their classic Austrian and German clarinet reeds. It's a real shame because I have used these reeds exclusively since 1996.
I have these sealed boxes of #5 reeds. I will keep them as collectors item, seeing as how they are no longer being produced. I will try the Peter Leuthner Professional #5 suggested by Wenzel Fuchs or the Pilgerstorfer Concerto #4 suggested by Andreas Ottensamer.

I bought this mouthpiece more than 20 years ago. New/old stock from A&G Music in Oakland. Made of silverite, it has tarnished to dark grey over the year's. I used Weiman silver polish to clean it up and looking nice again. Silverite is interesting stuff to work with. Now I need to get another tenor saxophone soon...
My Moresky soprano clarinet and clarinet d'amore. Thankful to have them both 🥰
