this feels really odd to ask but but what do you think the hunting dogs' thoughts are about death? specifically if they die and how? cause I feel like all of them share a variation of "I will go down guns blazing and with glory"
fukuchi definitely feels it and I feel like jouno as well. they've both had rough and violent lives so I feel like they've always thought death was just right around the corner.
I don't know about the rest of them though. teruko I feel shares the thought but not as intense as the other two, and I dont know about tecchou and tachihara.
anyway. it's a neat thought to me :3
ohhh i’ve been thinking of the best way to answer this for DAYS. this analysis will be long so ill put it under a readmore.
overall, it is shown that they can die. i assume due to their abilities and bodily enhancements that they do not die of injuries very easily. it makes me wonder how disease hits them? partially mechanical bodies may not respond to illness as well as natural bodies would? or maybe the opposite and they can heal more so internally? anyways here's my thoughts on how each hunting dog perceives dying!!
i see fukuchi as fairly self-preserving up until the end. he can't die in battle because he needs to make sure the decay of angels plot carries out.
remember that he was warned of this at nine years old. he had to spend his life preparing for this. he likely grew very wary of living recklessly and became great at fighting very fast and young; i assume that's why he went through dojos to fight as a child.
under no circumstances could he die until the world was safe.
i imagine he put on a selfless face and was willing to take serious harm in order to protect the peace, but i highly doubt he was ever willing to sacrifice his life until his plan worked out.
here we see his thought process and how things need to fall into place. his participation was essential because in no other situation would fukuzawa be the one able to get access to the one order. if fukuchi had died beforehand, the war would play out as the amenogozen warning claimed.
he had to leave the world to fukuzawa, the man he could trust most before facing his own demise.
of course, at this point in the series he has been killed since that was the final goal of his plan. a noble death for a fantastic hero.
im actually a little conflicted on his perception of death. i believe jouno is willing to sacrifice his life if absolutely necessary but is probably more self-preserving than the others. i believe he likely uses his confident and slightly arrogant attitude to hide this self-preserving mindset. someone who comes off as intimidating or nonchalant during battle is more likely to throw off the enemy whereas appearing nervous or angry will make them seem vulnerable. i believe jouno also sees himself as very strategic and able to get out of situations easily if needed. he's a quick thinker from what we've seen thus far.
lets look at when he confronted fukuchi.
he starts off very confidently accepting the offer. we know this is a facade but him immediately trying to throw fukuchi off guard seems so show he's pretty confident in his next move.
but when this doesn't work, he immediately tries to flee. this is fairly unique for a fight in bsd, many characters will often fight until they either get what they wish or they're too injured to move. despite jouno having an ability that could dodge fukuchi's, he still chose to try and escape instead of continuing to fight. this is a very normal human reaction to have but not one you see as often.
and at a disturbance, he begins to panic and needs to ground himself by reassuring himself instead of fighting back. he's not willing to put his life on the line to stop a global terrorism and his own escape is seen as a victory, which i see as him being more self-preserving. this all took place before the sword was set on fire, so it wasn't as if he had that threat to escape yet.
however, there's a chance he just didn't know how to fight the amenogozen; but his ability was definitely one of the best to fight against fukuchi with.
still, he's smart and made sure to plan adequately in case he was injured in the battle against fukuchi. he wants to keep himself safe, but he's still smart enough to take precaution.
i think jouno has probably been through a lot in his life and wants to spend a while living happily, making him more afraid to die than the others. this is even shown when he took teruko being angry as a threat while fukuchi laughed over it.
(as a small note, fukuchi's line in the anime was "haha. it seems our gremlin is angry today" which makes more sense in this context).
so tldr i think jouno would only go down if absolutely necessary and otherwise is fairly self-prioritizing.
i believe tecchou would sacrifice himself if it brings justice.
however, he seems to see himself as one responsible for judgement, so i imagine he gives every single fight his all.
regardless of him acting as judgement, it's been shown that tecchou is willing to die if he fails at his work.
here he promises that if he were to fail he would commit seppuku (killing oneself via slicing through your stomach--an honourable death for a samurai fighter (which lines up with irl tetchou coming from samurai lineage)), which is an incredibly agonizing way to die. regardless, he is fully willing to do it if it is for peace. this shows a confidence in death and commitment to his sense of justice to an extreme manner.
and when he found himself in a situation where he was in the wrong, he immediately admitted defeat and asked his opponent to kill him.
he admits defeat, says his wrongs and is willing to accept the consequences.
he even jumps to the harsh conclusion that he isn't worthy of his title as a hunting dog. the stark white in his eyes show that his mind isn't corrupted and that he is doing what he believes is proper justice. incredibly noble.
luckily he was spared-and likely learned a lot about justice not always being as black and white as things appear.
overall, tecchou is a very noble fighter and is willing to put his life on the line for justice. he doesn't seem to fear death and will embrace it if he feels it is earned or deserved.
i have less to say about tachihara than the others. i see him as the type that will go down over what's right and that's shown during his fight with fukuchi.
he isn't willing to fear death or beg for forgiveness. he will go down if it is worthy.
we also see that he keeps a argumentative spirit towards the enemy despite the circumstances. he will put down his opponent even in the moment of death, he just has the confidence to.
this panel also shows that he's more willing to die than to be defeated. he doesn't want to harm anyone and be controlled so he tries to kill himself first.
overall, he's a strong fighter who isn't afraid to sacrifice his life for what he believes in. his orders make him who he is, and if the orders are to win he either will or he will die trying.
(of course that last part doesn't really count when he was posing as a mafioso because he couldn't blow his cover by easily surviving everything).
much like tachihara, teruko seems to be very willing to put herself on the line to keep people safe. this is shown almost immediately in her introduction.
if ordered, she is willing to die. she's incredibly dedicated to her job and would go down if it saves people.
she's willing to go to drastic measures to keep herself alive as well, destroying her eardrum and continuing to try and fight sigma despite being under the directed resonance guns (which were made to destroy people like her). she didn't run, and she did absolutely everything she could have done in order to win.
she seems to also pride herself in fighting and being hurt in battle, likely to show her resilience and ability to do whatever it takes if it saves people.
she even goes on to call the hunting dogs "society's servants" and refers to the enhancement surgeries as "searing order into their own bodies."
this immense dedication makes me strongly believe that she would have no problem sacrificing herself if it is for the best. she killed fukuchi despite really caring for him, so i can see her being willing to put herself into that situation as well.
tysm for the question!!!!! this was super fun to read through the scenes again and try to piece together a logical guess on them all.

So one of the most common problems people have with DC is that they won’t let their characters stay dead, it makes something that’s supposed to be a big thing that will permanently change other characters and the world around them feel like a pointless footnote. The obvious solution is to let them stay dead, however I would like to offer another option that is specifically geared toward the Robins.
They die but they don’t stay dead, it happens over and over again, their loved ones are stuck watching them suffer and die again and again only to come back and have the cycle repeat. No matter what they do death always finds them.
They lose sight of what life actually means because their own seems to mean nothing, they start struggling to understand things that use to make so much sense, like why people fight so hard to survive or why death scares so many, because they know they’ll never get to actually be dead.
The public starts to view them as demons or gods or something, because they’ve seen Redhood be stabbed through the heart, they’ve seen Nightwing fall and break himself on the concrete, they’ve seen Signal overload his powers and burn from the inside out, they’ve seen Red Robin’s head be crushed by block of stone, they’ve seen Robin choke and spit up blood before falling still because he was dosed with poison, they’ve seen Batgirls throat be slit, they’ve seen the birds die in dozens of horrific ways and they’ve seen the affect it has on the bats, but the birds come back, again and again, but every time they come back they look sadder, like less came back.
The birds don’t view themselves as the gods the public does, they view themselves as servants, servants of Gotham, of the people, of justice and vengeance, they can only pray that when their job is done they will be able to rest.

Mama Shaw comparing Lukard’s compatibility to Rattie and Rowen, Owen defending his boyfriend’s honor with “he’s funny”, Letty being the only one in the crew who’s acceptable, the crew being absolutely hopeless, Mama Shaw nagging about her kids needing more training, Deckard being the only one of his siblings who’s still sharp, Owen whining, Owen and Hattie protecting their lovable yet vulnerable partners, THE REALIZATION THAT THE SHAW SIBS HAVE GONE SOFT BECAUSE OF THE TORETTO CREW AND THEIR PARTNERS!!!
Asdfghjkl I love this so much! Thank you Omni! 💞💞💞
Hello again Omni! And happy Friday! I got an idea: what if Mama Shaw tagged along on a Nobody mission? Imagine: her critiquing everything her kids do, complaining about the team, and judging her children's partners.
Hello again friend! Sorry for the later response, I had to plan out some lesson plans with my teaching group
This is such a fun idea!! Mama Shaw would be her kids' ultimate critic!

Narrowing her eyes, Queenie Shaw watched from above as Toretto's crew worked to take down the small army of goons that were trying to keep them from their chosen target
The man was an international hacker who had fled the country when he stole top secret information
Mixed in the crowd, she could see her three children all fighting
Owen looked far too gleeful as he kept goons away from his little boyfriend, Pearce. Owen fought off the men and women with abandon as Pearce tried to throw a punch or two at the people who rarely got through Owen's guard
Meanwhile, Hattie was off in the corner, protecting Ramsey as she had a hacking battle with their target. She seemed full immersed in her computer battle while Hattie never once left her side
But it was Deckard and Luke at the center of the fighting that caught Queenie's eye
The two men worked off each other spectacularly
Back to back, they protected each other and traded weapons when needed. It was almost as if they were reading each other's minds as they went through enemy after enemy
Queenie was immensely proud of her children, but they would need improvements. They had all seemed to become a bit sloppy when fighting
She would need to have have train properly with a master she chose
Viewing the crew they were fighting alongside of, Queenie could see why they were getting sloppy
None or Toretto's crew knew how to fight. Even though Ortiz had obvious training, it was a mix of different arts. Maybe she could convince the younger woman to join her children's training
But the rest of the crew was hopeless in Queenie's eyes
Why her children even stuck with the crew was beyond her comprehension
Shaking her head, Queenie left them to their fight. She needed a strong cuppa
---
"Mum, we don't need more training!" Owen whined
They were back at Nowhere, sitting across their mother in a room she had commandeered. None of Nobody's agents had gone against the Shaw matriarch
"With what I saw today, you need it." She said firmly
Deckard sighed
He thought they were past their mother managing them
"We're fine mum." He tried to convince her
"You are still on top of your game, Dex, but your siblings need a refresher. And you know they won't learn if you're not there."
"Oi!" Hattie hissed. "My fighting skills are perfectly fine!"
"Trust me, you need more." Queenie sniffed and then pointed her cup at both Owen and Hattie. "And we need to discuss your partners."
"What?" Owen's voice dropped dangerously
"Don't you start." Queenie warned. "Hatts, your Ramsey is a smart tart, but she needs to learn how to protect herself while hacking. You can do it, so can she. And Oh. Why are you with that bloke? Hes more bark than bite!"
"He's funny." Owen mumbled, not wanting to admit anything about Roman's fighting style
"Jokes aren't going to save his hide in a fight. You should be with someone who can have you back, like Hobbs has Dex's."
Deckard glanced over at Owen and could visibly see his little brother's anger boiling over
Sighing once again, Deckard stood to make more tea
They would need it

I hope you enjoyed friend!
The Outsiders (1983)
Ah hello Omni! I have a request! Can we have the Shaw siblings and the subtle (or not so subtle) aftermaths and effects of their childhood trauma (and adulthood trauma). Thank you! 😘
I've been biting at the bit to write this one up friend!! I have so many ideas for it, just bear with me!
Warning: implied child abuse, flashbacks pertaining images of child abuse

Deckard kept his breath even and his eyes closed as he listened to his own heartbeat on the monitor next to him. He could feel his skin itching close to the needle stuck in the back of his hand, but knew better than to scratch at it
He purposely ignored the way his ribs screamed in pain every time he moved even slightly. Or how his foot was raised up on several pillows and a thick cast wrapped around his ankle
It had been a stupid mistake. He didn't see a grenade coming towards him in time and had been thrown off a small ledge. He was lucky to not be struck by any depris
But not lucky enough not to get hurt
With his eyes closed and mind elsewhere, Deckard didn't hear the heavy footsteps coming closer and closer to his room until the door banged open and made Deckard's eyes fly open
"What the fuck did you think you were doing?" Luke Hobbs growled at him. He barred his teeth in anger and stormed up to Deckard
Before the Brit had any time to respond, Luke continued
"I turn my back for one second and you can't even keep yourself from doing the most stupid shit I've ever seen!" Luke shouted, standing over Deckard. "The next time I yell 'grenade' you fucking listen to me, Shaw! Do you understand?"
Deckard stared up at him, face blank as he nodded his head the slightest amount
"See that you don't, princess." Luke barked at him before storming out of the room and slamming the door shut
Deckard could only stare after him
While Luke probably didn't notice the heart monitor going crazy, Deckard most certainly did and tried to calm himself down before any nurse could come rushing in
Blood rushed in Deckard's ears as he tried to take calming breathes but they came shaking and brought a small sob from his lips. His hands shook more than he remembered them doing so in a decade and didn't stop no matter what he did
While the nurses only heard Luke's shouted words, all Deckard heard was his father's words
Closing his eyes, Deckard could feel tears falling down his cheeks
---
Roman could sleep through almost anything. Including the loud thunderstorm that was rolling through Miami that night. He was firmly wrapped around Owen, his chest covering the Brit's back. Face shoved securely in Owen's hair, Roman slept like a baby
Before being violently woken up by Owen sitting up straight
Roman jerked harshly and flung his arms out as a loud crash of thunder shook the walls and made Owen jump even harder
As the rolling thunder trailed off, Roman could hear Owen's heavy breathing in the dark
"Oh? You ok?" Roman whispered and moved closer, but didn't dare put his hand on the other man, no matter how much he wanted to comfort him. He knew better than startle him
"Y-yeah." Came Owen's shaky reply
Frowning, Roman watching him, but couldn't see much in the darkness. Owen's breathing wasn't calming down as quickly as he'd like
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong."
"Owen..."
Owen shook his head
"Thunder reminds me when one of my units got bombed when I was in the military." He whispered
Roman felt his heart shatter
"I'm so sorry, Oh."
Owen nodded and took a shaky breath
"Can we sleep?"
"Yeah."
Settling back down, Roman lifted his arm as Owen snuggled into his chest and shoved his head beneath Roman's chin. Holding him close, Roman rubbed Owen's back in comfort
But Owen was stiff as he kept his eyes open, lost in thought
He didn't tell Roman that the thunder also sounded like the gun his father used to own and would point at him as a child

Closing the door, Hattie carefully juggled the boxes of pizza and breadsticks as she went back into her apartment
She smiled as she saw Ramsey cracking open two beers and placing them on the coffee table. The TV was ready to go with their choice of movie that night, Little Shop of Horrors
"You said this place was good?" Ramsey asked as Hattie started to place the boxes down
"Best place on this side of London." Hattie flashed her a smile, not looking where she put the boxes
Suddenly, there was a thud as one of the beer bottles went crashing to the floor and spilling everywhere
"Oh shit!" Ramsey yelped as beer splashed all over her feet. "Where are your paper towels?"
As she looked over at Hattie, she found her as pale as a ghost and frozen to the spot
"Hatts?" Ramsey called out gently, but she didn't move
Hattie's eyes were stuck on the fallen beer that was still gushing out the contents. Standing, Ramsey moved closer to Hattie and saw her hands shaking
"Hattie? What's wrong?"
"N-nothing!" Hattie blurted and jerked in place. "Let me clean this up."
"Ok, but-" before Ramsey could continue, Hattie had bolted off and towards the kitchen. Ramsey frowned after her
Hattie nearly collided with the kitchen counter as her breath came short and ragged. Frantically, she looked down at her hands and saw the small scarring on the back of them
She could clearly hear her father screaming at her and demanding she be punished. She could practically feel the latex gloves he would shove onto her hands and force her to wear for an hour or more. She could remember the burning and itching sensation that ran up her arms as she was forced to sit in the puddle of beer she had knocked over by accident
"Hattie?"
"Coming!" Hattie yelled back, hoping her voice wasn't shaking. Grabbing the paper towel, Hattie went back into the living room
---
Leaning against a wall, Deckard kept his eyes narrowed as he watched a nurse walk up to Owen and brandishing a needle
Deckard flexed his arm without thinking and could feel the soreness from where he had already been stuck by a needle
He and his siblings had been sent out by Mr. Nobody to track down an international criminal, but had ended up being ambushed. The guy had sent a canister at them, leaving them in a cloud of unidentified gas
Now, they needed to know if they had been poisoned
Meaning they needed to have their blood drawn
Which Deckard could see that both Owen and Hattie were about to refuse
Hattie was sitting next to Owen, his hand tightly squeezing hers as they both kept their eyes on the nurse
Deckard wanted to tell them that nothing was going to happen, but he knew they wouldn't believe him. Not when he had said the same thing years ago and had been wrong
He knew exactly what was going through their minds when they saw a needle
They were questioning whether they would be forced to sleep if the needed touched them
Deckard had been nine when their mother had first brought home her needles. She had shown them to her children, stating that if they misbehaved while she had an important meeting, she'd make sure they were quiet
Owen, the poor rowdy six year old, had found out the hard way
The needles were filled with strong sedatives that had left Owen unconscious for almost a day
Deckard was sure their mother had killed him
But he had woken up, shaking and sobbing
It wasn't the last time their mother would use tranquilizers on them when they misbehaved. The last time being only half a year ago when Hattie had accidentally screwed up a job their mother had been pulling
Pushing himself off the wall, Deckard dragged a chair up next to Owen and sat on his other side
"Just let 'em take your blood, and we'll get out of here." Deckard said quietly, looking between his siblings
Neither looked remotely comforted

Hey everyone! To practice my art skills (and create content) I've decided to open some free commission slots!
There will be 3 slots available every month that will be (hopefully) fulfilled by the end of every month.
The Rules:
This is a Fast & Furious fandom exclusive deal.
This is a one commission per-person deal. You can't take up more than one slot.
Since this is free, I get to decide if/when the piece is done. Trying to do 3 full-lineart full-colored pieces would be super exhausting. I'm going to let my energy and inspiration take the lead.
This will generally be a 1st-come-1st serve basis, but if someone requests something that squicks me out, I'm not going to do it.
There will be a 2-character max for these. Ideally I could do more, but I'm worried I'll quickly get burned out. If you *desperately* want more than 2, we'd probably have to start talking about actual paid commissions.
As of right now, my commission slots for July are open. So feel free to message me with your requests/ideas.
I look forward to hearing from you!
