Can’t think of a better way to spend a night than getting high and watching your oldest fave
I don’t often do political posts that’s actually written by me, but I’ve got to say something. The TikTok ban is absolutely terrifying. It’s censorship. I’ve seen people comparing the fall of American TikTok to the death of Vine; they’re not the same. The government didn’t ban Vine. It eventually shut down. We’d be distraught if TikTok did shut down, but it’s not like it’s actually shutting down. It’s a ban! The government is censoring us as citizens and it’s all about control. Twitter is hell and Facebook doesn’t fact check. The. Government. Is. Trying. To. Censor. Us.
I personally didn’t like TikTok much. I never used it but its platform made a huge impact on others. We got YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels because of that. We got access to unbiased news on TikTok because it was the news that was left off (or the true version) of what was on the shady news channels. This ban is dystopian and I truly fear for the country I live in.

Daniel Penny is being paraded by Trump and Vance to signal to white supremacists that racial killing is MAGA approved.

also, i cannot BELIEVE they got the ceo assassin the same day daniel penny gets acquitted after he CHOKED JORDAN NEELY TO DEATH ON A TRAIN. all these right wing fuckers (ben shapiro, matt walsh, tim pool, etc) complaining about how the 'left is celebrating the murder of a CEO' while they celebrated the deaths of george floyd, jordan neely, and summer taylor is beyond hypocritical. I guess it's fine when the murderer is killing black homeless people and BLM protestors, whatever.
the irony is palpable.
Banana Bread Brownies
This was an interesting read. Surprisingly nonpreachy given the subject; and well worth the time.
“People were just smaller back then”
Nope. Fat people have always been here, aren’t going anywhere, and have always been beautiful and worthy of respect.
GUYS!!!
FRANCE HAS REACHED THE REQUIRED NUMBER OF SIGNATURES ON THE CITIZEN'S INITIATIVE AGAINST CONVERSION THERAPY IN THE EU!!
ONE COUNTRY DOWN, SIX TO GO!!
We also need still quite a few signatures in order to reach the one million required.
As to date, the six other countries with the most signatures are:
Spain - 38.72%
Finland - 30.31%
Ireland - 24.86%
Netherlands - 24.15%
Germany - 23.54%
Belgium - 23.09%
So yeah, still a long way to go, but we ARE slowly getting closer. Don't stop now! Don't let this stay within the community, either, if you have any friends or family who are open to queer rights, get them to sign, too!
Thinking about mirror neurons and how there is a specific part of the brain for processing music. That our brains hold music as so fundamental to our functioning as language itself. How some of the most bond forming activities that we perform as a species are call and response. The transcendental experience of being in a sea of people repeating a tune in near perfect synchronicity.
Micro evolution like this is so interesting to see
Gerstner Postdoctoral Fellow Daniel Hooper (@danielmhooper) studies the genetics of color evolution in Australian finches at the Museum. He recently published a study on the genetics of color variation in Long-tailed Finches and shares his findings on why some of these finches have red beaks, while others have yellow or orange beaks. This research, recently published in Current Biology, was all catch and release.

Life of a cat
Will I ever need to know this? No. Am I still reblogging it bc it’s interesting? Yes.
The shape of a fish's caudal tail can tell you a lot about how fast the fish moves! A rounded tail is the slowest and a lunate tail is the fastest! The lunate tail has the most optimal ratio of high thrust and low draw, making it the fastest.
